Rachel Birney

Overview

Rachel Birney is a PhD candidate who ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. The November 2023 incident reportedly occurred on the University of Southern California (USC) campus. 

Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women and children, during a series of terror attacks and war crimes on October 7, 2023, that left about 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.  

Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”


In November 2023, Birney was filmed on the USC campus ripping down posters that were put up to raise awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. 

When confronted by the individual recording the incident on camera, Birney laughed [00:00:08], claimed Israel was committing “genocide,” then walked away with a bunch of the torn-down posters in her hands.

USC reportedly sent out a message saying: “We are looking into this…”

As of November 2023, Birney was listed online as a Ph.D. student in physics and a teaching assistant at USC, which is in Los Angeles, California.

As of the same date, Birney’s since-deleted LinkedIn profile said she graduated from Wesleyan University (Wesleyan) with a bachelor’s degree in physics in 2023.
