Anti-Semitism

On May 23, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Israel issuing the arrest of 500 Palestinian youth in the occupied ‘48 territories *is* a pogrom, these people are nazis and we’re all watching them grow more violent and nefarious day by day. #48UnderAttack #NoHate.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On May 16, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted that “Jews in the diaspora… should be actively condemning Israel tbh [to be honest].”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

The IHRA anti-Semitism definition includes as one possible example: “Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.”

Also on May 16, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “American Jews should actively be speaking out against Israel…”

Defending Hamas

On July 6, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted about Hamas: “...The colonized have a right to resist!

On May 11, 2021, during OGW, Abdellatif tweeted: “I’m sorry but I don’t trust anyone who condemns Hamas or calls them a terrorist organization
1)They aren’t. Who do YOU think is going to defend Palestinians? The PA [Palestinian Authority]?”

Abdellatif replied to her own tweet: “I had to get this tweet out before I went to sleep and everyone can ignore it except canary mission bestie who im sure is keeping track of everything I say. I hate you. And I don’t hate Hamas.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Hamas's founding charter calls for the murder of Jews, while the terror group’s “summer camps” have taught children how to wage war.

Also on May 11, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “I’m actually going to sleep now promise but here’s a quick poem I wrote :
Hamas isn’t a terrorist organization
From the River to the Sea isn’t antisemitic
Israel is an apartheid settler colonial state
Zionists are racist fascists and are morally irredeemable
-Nourhan.”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

On May 14, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Hamas aren’t terrorists and Palestine isn’t a lost cause.”

On May 17, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Hamas is the resistance fighting against the occupation forces. Armed resistance is good actually.”

On May 18, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “...I think there are valid criticisms of Hamas but not when it comes to their armed resistance against the IOF [Israel Occupation Forces]. This is the resistance tf [the f**k] do they want. Also settlers can easily leave.”

Celebrating Terrorists

On July 8, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Glory to our martyr and eternal comrade, Ghassan Kanafani…”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

On March 8, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Happy #InternationalWomensDay to Egyptian and Palestinian women who challenged the whole world in opposition to Israeli violence.” Abdellatif’s tweet included a photo of Dalal Mughrabi.

Dalal Mughrabi, a member of the Fatah faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), participated in the 1978 Coastal Road massacre in Israel. She and other terrorists hijacked a bus in an attack that left 38 Israeli civilians dead, including 13 children.

On February 19, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted a photo of Leila Khaled with text reading: “Based Leila Khaled. Zionists stay being threatened by the power of Palestinian women.”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

On November 24, 2020, Abdellatif tweeted: “TBT to my presentation for my Hemispheric American class when I wore my keffiyeh and decolonize shirt to protest zoom for silencing Leila Khaled and the racist kid in my class decided to never speak to me again. Jokes on you, motherf**ker, I hated you from the beginning.”

Zoom, the digital video conferencing platform, reportedly refused to stream a panel featuring Khaled, citing her “reported affiliation or membership in a U.S. designated foreign terrorist organization, and SFSU’s inability to confirm otherwise” a likely violation of Zoom’s Terms of Service.

On September 24, 2020, YouTube also canceled its broadcast of the Khaled event “approximately 23 minutes in,” reportedly when recorded footage showed Khaled urging the right of occupied peoples to fight their occupiers ‘by any means possible, including weapons.’”

Abdellatif’s tweet included an image of Khaled holding an assault rifle, with text that said: “In honor of Leila Khalid.”

On November 10, 2020, Abdellatif tweeted: “Presenting on Anzaldúa today and repping Palestine and Laila Khalid Bc zoom is a corrupt Zionist organization.”

On September 24, 2020, Abdellatif tweeted: “I can’t boycott zoom bc of classes, but I will use my space to advocate for the voices that @zoom_us is silencing. We’re talking about Leila Khaled today.”

Abdellatif’s tweet said: “I dedicate the first section of this PowerPoint to Palestinian activist and icon, Leila Khaled” and included an image of Khaled with text reading: “Her voice and message are echoed in the following slides about the dangers of orientalism and white supremacy.”

On the same date, Abdellatif tweeted a photo of Khaled reportedly taken at Beirut International Airport,.with an airplane in the background, and wrote: “Leila Khalid is not a terrorist.”

The photo of Khaled had reportedly been associated with Khaled’s participation in the armed kidnapping of civilians and the hijacking of an American passenger plane, eventually forced to land in Damascus, Syria, where the plane was blown up.

Supporting Terrorism

On May 8, 2021, during OGW, Abdellatif tweeted: “Violence from the colonized is anticolonial and necessary for liberation, their violence is the antithesis of the colonizer violence. Intifada is decolonization. Intifada is liberation. Intifada is a rejection of Israeli violence.”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

On May 10, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Solidarity with every stone, with every rocket, with every cane used by Palestinians to defend themselves from the illegal violent and treacherous Zionist entity. Freedom is justified by any means necessary. There is no justice for the martyrs..end Israel.”

On May 11, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “These are freedom rockets this is a sign of freedom and resistance. Gaza is fighting back, all of Palestine is fighting back against Israeli settler occupation! Palestine will be free!♥️🇵🇸

Abdellatif’s tweet included a photo of rockets launched from Gaza and Iron Dome defensive missiles launched to intercept them.

On May 11, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “...Palestinians have a right to resist by any means necessary.”

On the same date, Abdellatif tweeted a video from the reportedly Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency of Palestinians cheering as terrorists launched rockets at Israeli population centers from Gaza.

Abdellatif wrote: “Gaza is letting Tel Aviv know that they won’t back down.
Despite years and years of being besieged they are still fighting-you cannot kill the spirit of revolution. May god protect them. #Gaza #فلسطين_تنتفض [Palestine rises up]”

Abdellatif replied to her own tweet: “‘BUT HAMAS’ what did you expect them to do? Israel turned Gaza into an open air prison. These people are fighting for liberation.”

On May 12, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted describing Hamas rockets as “Palestinian resistance rockets” that were “launched at Sedrot in defense...”

Abdellatif’s tweet included photos of the aftermath of a Hamas rocket attack, which killed a five-year-old Israeli boy and wounded several others.

Abdellatif retweeted a May 24, 2021 tweet that said: “every act of resistance from a palestinian, no matter how ‘violent, is justified and praised.”

Abdellatif retweeted a June 7, 2021 tweet that said “Happy pride” and included a meme, from Memri TV and inserted subtitles that said: “Of course, we do support this LGBT movement. That is, ‘Let’s Go Bomb Tel-Aviv.’”

Promoting Incitement

On May 7, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “... Israel enacted its state violence against defenseless Palestinians WHILE THEY WERE PRAYING and LOCKED THEM IN THE MOSQUE as they brutalized them….”

In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.

Palestinians and anti-Israel activists have historically described visits by Jews to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem as “incursions” during which Jews purportedly “storm” the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, with which they attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.

On May 8, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted referring to clashes at Al Aqsa Mosque: “this is a genocide enacted by an armed military against people who were *praying*. They closed the gates and started shooting. This is a tactical plot. Palestinians can and should have the right to defend themselves through any means necessary.”

On May 9, 2021, Abdellatif retweeted a tweet that claimed: “Israeli settlers getting ready in mobs to storm Al-Aqsa mosque. They really go out of their way to terrorize Palestinians and our holy sites for fun.” The tweet showed photos of Jews at the entrance to the Western Wall plaza.

Abdellatif wrote about the tweet: “Before all the weirdos say ‘this is only a small faction of Israelis they don’t represent all of the population’...pls stop. This type of ethnonationalist violence is *rooted* in zionism since Herzl‘a time. You can’t separate these people from those chanting ‘death to Arabs’.”

Also on May 9, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “... This is the violence Israel is enacting on the Palestinians! Inshallah I quick fall to the Zionist entity! #AlAqsa #AlAqsaUnderAttack #IsraeliAttackonAlAqsa”

Calling for the Destruction of Israel

On May 30, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “‘But what will happen to the Israeli settlers when Palestine is free?’ IDK [I don’t know]. LEAVE.”

Abdellatif then replied to her own tweet: “Like baby, who cares? ‘What will happen to the colonizers once the colony is freed?’ This is the question you are asking and the only answer is : They can go to hell. Or Poland.”

On the same date, Abdellatif tweeted: “Your settlers have dual citizenship to other countries and their Israeli passports allow them access to countries that are allied with your settler state. They’ll be fine…”

Abdellatif’s tweet was in response to another tweet that said if Israel was replaced with Palestine it would not be safe for Israeli Jews.

On May 29, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Inshallah downfall of the illegal settler state and everyone who benefits and supports it soon. Canary mission bestie pls document this one ♥️.”

On the same date, Abdellatif tweeted: “Down with zionism. There can absolutely be no two states, no co-existence with these monsters.”

On May 11, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “inshallah settlers will leave all of Palestine.
We will see a free Palestine in our life times. ♥️🇵🇸

On February 22, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Palestinian : posts thread about a family member that was murdered by the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]
Zionists : BUT THE PALESTINIANS ARE VIOLENT WHEN THEY PROTEST
Y’all are ruthless and disgusting. The lengths you’d go to justifyethnic cleansing is beyond me. Death to Israel.”

On February 12, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “Asking Palestinians to just make peace is ignorant and violent. There cannot be peace untill Palestinians are allowed to return to their rightful land with full autonomy and mobility alongside the downfall of the settler state. Zionists ideas of peace ignore this.”

The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

Abdellatif’s tweet was in response to her own tweet that claimed: “It is easier for Zionists to promote ‘peace’ or ‘solidarity’ because they did not face the negative consequences of creating the Israeli settler colony. Only one side faced violence.”

Spreading Hatred of America

On June 11, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted a photo of an Israeli and an American flag being burned at a protest and wrote: “Inshallah [Allah willing] ♥️.”

This is our revolution-and our demands must center on indigenous liberation from colonialism.”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

On February 19, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted a photo of an Israeli flag and a U.S. flag being burned at a 2017 Al-Quds Day protest in Iran and wrote: “Inshallah [If Allah wills it] death to the settler countries.”

This actions are not new, just becoming more accessible to the public. I’ll say it again : The U.S. military is a terrorist organization.”

On the same date, Abdellatif tweeted: “Wait a minute. So you’re telling me no one is supposed to call Amerikkka a white supremacist settler colonial country except people who live in it?”

The term “Amerikkka” uses the initials of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) as a way to demonize America as “fascist or racist.”

On November 5, 2020, Abdellatif tweeted: “All of them including Amerikkka and Isra*l” in response to a tweet that asked: “Ok, I have a question for you: Who do you hate more, the British or the French?”

On June 7, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “My favorite thing in the world is making zionists uncomfortable in the classroom tbh. Use that discomfort against them.
They don’t deserve an OUNCE of peace.”

On February 28, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted: “It's almost as if we can see that no one colonizes benevolently...you colonize because you are at your core, a diseased person. You don't colonize to educate or because you love the native population. The best example of this is zionists attacking Palestinians who are in academia.”

On January 6, 2021, Abdellatif tweeted about artist Demi Lovato: “Aren’t you a zionist? Literally shut the f**k up.”

Palestinians can't be antisemitic in the same context as anyone else can because they are constantly being told that they deserve to be colonized to make space for Israel that presents itself as the so called Jewish homeland. Zionists stfu.”

Antisemitism refers to hostility, prejudice or discrimination directed against Jews (and not all Semitic people). The term was first used in print in Germany in 1879, as a word to denote Jew-hatred and this has been its common usage since then.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
