Nora Fayad Rauhouse

Overview

Nora Fayad Rauhouse was arrested during an anti-Israel encampment protest in 2024. She has yelled “We are Hamas!” at another anti-Israel rally, spread incitement and expressed support for a terrorist. Rauhouse has also promoted hatred of Zionists, called for Israel’s destruction and engaged in anti-Israel activism.

Rauhouse is a supporter [00:01:00] of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Rauhouse’s anti-Israel activism took place during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war, called called “Swords of Iron,” after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings. The atrocities were executed on October 7, 2023, and left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.

As of February 2025, Rauhouse was a member [00:00:27] of the “CUNY 8,” a group of outside agitators arrested for their unlawful activism in support of an anti-Israel encampment at the City College of New York (CCNY), part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system.

For more information, check Canary Mission’s campaign "Outside Agitators Arrested at CCNY Encampment."

As of May 2024, Rauhouse’s website said she was “a fearless UX Designer with a background in the coffee industry and video editing….,” while her since-deleted LinkedIn profile said in April 2024 that she had “a passion for creating accessible human experiences in both digital and beverage form.”

As of April 2024, Rauhouse’s LinkedIn said she graduated from General Assembly (GA) in UXUI Design in December 2022.

Also as of April 2024, Rauhouse’s LinkedIn said she was located in New York, New York.

Arrested in 2024

On April 30, 2024, Rauhouse was arrested for participating in CUNY’s anti-Israel encampment, “following a clash between protesters and police.”

The New York Post (NYP) reported that Rauhouse was “charged with burglary in the third degree and other related charges.”

In a video posted on Instagram on February 10, 2024, Rauhouse appeared [00:00:01] alongside other CUNY 8 members, giving an interview about her participation in the CUNY encampment.

In the interview, Rauhouse said [00:00:02]: “I am currently facing felony charges.”

The CUNY 8 refers to a group of eight individuals arrested during an unlawful protest on April 30, 2024, for their involvement in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at the City College of New York (CCNY). CCNY is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Law enforcement officers also sustained injuries during the protest.

None of the CUNY 8 were CCNY students. They, along with other protestors, were charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass, tampering with physical evidence and possession of burglar’s tools. In addition, the arrestees were charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree for causing upward of $3 million in both damage to CCNY property and additional security measures the school was forced to put into place after the protest.

The other arrestees from the protest accepted plea bargains, while the CUNY 8 pleaded not guilty and decided to take their case to trial. The defendants face up to seven years in prison.

The CCNY encampment was one of about 140 anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and used anti-Semitic language in their activism.

Yelling “We Are Hamas!” at an Anti-Israel Rally

On April 17, 2024, during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists, Rauhouse appeared [00:00:02] on an Instagram video beating a pan on a security fence and screaming: “We are Hamas!” Rauhouse was reportedly protesting at Columbia University (Columbia) in New York, New York.

When a bystander said: “...You’re what? You’re Hamas?” Rauhouse replied [00:00:08]: “Yes! We’re all Hamas, pig!” while continuing to beat the pan on the metal fence.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation.

Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, approximately 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.

A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

For more information on the October 7, 2023 terror attacks, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization founded in 1987 that is dedicated to destroying Israel and killing Jews. Since 2001, Hamas has launched thousands of rockets at Israel and on October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 200 hostages, including children and the elderly.

Incitement

On February 11, 2024, Rauhouse posted on Facebook: “Free Palestine. Intifada is the only solution. Don’t forget a pig [police officer] is a pig no matter what they’re wearing or doing ❤️…”

The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.

Rauhouse’s post included two photos of her at an anti-Israel protest. One of the photos showed her in a verbal confrontation with a police officer.

Support for a Terrorist

On April 11, 2024, Rauhouse shared on Facebook Reels a video of scenes from pro-Palestinian rallies and events. She wrote: “Share! Boost! Here everyday until our demands our [sic] met!”

Among the images on Rauhouse’s reel was a sign from pro-terror organization Samidoun that said [00:00:08]: “Freedom for Ahmad Sa’adat.”

Ahmad Sa’adat is the Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). He is currently serving in an Israeli prison for terror activities, including his role in the 2001 assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi. Under Sa’adat’s leadership, the PFLP perpetrated many suicide bombings against Israeli civilians during the second intifada.

Calling for Israel’s Destruction

As of May 2024, Rauhouse’s Instagram bio said: “...from the river to the sea…”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.

On February 11, 2024, Rauhouse posted on Facebook a photo of an Israeli flag being set on fire.

Rauhouse posted a photo in the same post that showed the words: “F**K ISRAEL” graffitied on the floor alongside what appeared to be the remaining ashes of the burned Israeli flag.

Anti-Israel Activism (BDS)

As of May 2024, Rauhouse’s Instagram bio also included the link to a spreadsheet that listed multiple resources for anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian activism.

Among the resources was a “BDS at CUNY [City University of New York] toolkit,” “STOP GAZA GENOCIDE: Take Action Now! (Public Toolkit),” “Tactics to secure your smartphone before joining a protest - Amnesty International” and “Scaffolded Anti-Racist Resources.”

On October 30, 2023, Rauhouse wrote on Facebook that she was “Hosting a teach in” in Brooklyn, New York, on November 6, 2023. The event was titled: “From the River to the Sea…,” and would include a discussion on “...what we can do to help end the genocide.”

On October 16, 2023, during Israel’s war against Hamas, Rauhouse promoted on Facebook a fundraising event she was co-hosting that would take place in Queens, New York, on October 19, 2023. The event was titled: “From the River to the Sea…” The flyer promoting the event said: “proceeds going to UNRWA.”

The United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) was created after Israel’s 1948 War of Independence to provide for the humanitarian needs of “Palestinian refugees,” which UNRWA defines as descendants of these displaced individuals worldwide. In late 2022, this number was close to 6 million.

Using its mandate, UNRWA has hired Hamas members as teachers in its schools and provided arms to the terror group. At least 42 UNRWA staff participated in the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack on Israel, with an estimated 10% of UNRWA’s Gaza staff having affiliation with Hamas or Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ). UNRWA staff kept hostages for Hamas in their homes, stored Hamas weapons in its facilities and provided electricity for Hamas’s data operations in Gaza tunnels from UNRWA headquarters.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
