Whitewashing Terrorism
In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.
On July 1, 2014, the same day audio was released of an emergency call made by Israeli teenagers who were kidnapped by Hamas operatives two weeks earlier, Jarad tweeted: “Tbh starting to doubt if three Israeli soldiers were kidnapped and killed in the first place? How come there's no footage of them?”
In August 2014, Hamas admitted responsibility for the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers at a bus stop on June 12th of that year. The bodies of the abducted boys were found buried in Palestinian-controlled territory on June 30, 2014.
On May 15, 2018, Jarad tweeted: “All my brothers and sisters that were murdered in Palestine unable witness this Ramadan or currently fighting for their liberation will be in every Dua of mine this blessed month.”
On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.
Hatred of Israel
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
On April 28, 2021, Jarad tweeted: “The Israeli State was built on apartheid, persecution, & human rights violations against the Palestinians. World leaders still turn a blind eye to the truth & silence is compliance.”
On May 15, 2018, Jarad tweeted: “Benjamin Netanyahu,” the then-Prime Minister of Israel, in response to a tweet that said: “I just bought a pig lol name suggestions? It’s a boy.”
On July 7, 2015, Jarad tweeted: “Don't just tweet about it, take action and voice your opinion to Snapchat on the Tel Aviv snap story.” In July 2015, the social media platform Snapchat featured photos and videos of Snapchat users in Tel Aviv, aggregating them into Snapchat’s “story” of the day.
Jarad attached screenshotted replies to a Tel Aviv Snapchat Story, one of which stated: “Disappointed to see that there is a Tel Aviv snap story when Israel is in a constant state of conflict and genocide with Palestinians and more intensely with Gaza...”
On July 10, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Jarad tweeted: “Native Americans Slavery Holocaust Rawanda. How long is it gonna take until Palestine is recognized on that list of when we let people die?”
Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
Promoting BDS
She linked to an AJ+ tweet stating: “Gal Gadot has been cast as the next Cleopatra, causing controversy over if the former member of the Israeli Defense Forces is an appropriate choice for the role of an ancient Egyptian queen.”
On June 16, 2020, Jarad tweeted: “Genocide n’ Apartheid with a swirl of illegal occupation #FreePalestine” in response to a tweet that said: “Reply to this tweet with your favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor. I always get the same one and I wanna switch it up.”
The BDS movement has condemned Ben & Jerry’s for its “long-standing contractual relationship with an Israeli franchise” that markets product throughout Israel.
SJP UIC Pushing BDS
Jarad added in the same thread: “Business from UIC to companies that help support the apartheid and crimes against humanity in Palestine by the Zionist Israeli government”
She then stated: “It takes 30 seconds. Every name makes a difference. http://uicdivest.org!!!!!”
In February 2016, SJP UIC united with 23 other student groups to co-sponsor a BDS resolution that proposed “divestment from companies profiting from human rights abuses and violations of international law in Palestine.”
The resolution’s wording was later modified due to efforts to blunt its original anti-Israel focus and called on UIC to divest from “companies actively engaged in human rights violations in Palestine, Syria, China, United States, US-Mexican border, and Chicago.”
On February 15, 2016, the modified resolution passed unanimously.
Later that day, SJP UIC’s press release stated: “While tonight’s divestment vote is an important step in the divestment movement, we recognize that this is just the beginning. We are committed to working towards urging the university to divest wholly from the Israeli occupation....”
In April 2016, SJP UIC celebrated on Facebook the resolution’s passing and suggested it called on “the university to remove all their investments in companies complicit in human rights violations of the Palestinian people and the occupation and colonization of Palestine!”
High School Demonization of Israel
On March 24, 2013, Jarad tweeted: “$3 billion plus of US money funds the Israeli military per year, aiding the oppression of Palestinians. #EndApartheidNow @AMPalestine.”
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
