Noor Aref

Overview

Noor Aref [Noor A. Aref] has spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, equated Israel with Nazi Germany and spread hatred of Israel on social media.

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, Aref was an activist with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Buffalo (UB). 

As of December 2020, Aref’s LinkedIn page said she was a student at the UB School of Social Work, pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work, from “2018 -2020.”

Aref’s LinkedIn page also said she studied Communication at UB from “2012 - 2017.” 

As of June 2018, Aref’s LinkedIn page said she was a student at the University of Buffalo (UB) from “2012-2017.” However, Aref’s Facebook page said she “Studied” at UB from “2014 to present.” 

As of December 2020, Aref’s Facebook page said she worked at Macy’s.

As of April 2021, publicly available online sources indicated Aref was located in Williamsville, NY, which is part of the Buffalo–Niagara FallsMetropolitan Area.

Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories

On October 19, 2015, Aref tweeted: “Really getting tired of the Zionist controlled news.Why do we give Israel all this power carry out a brutal regime?”

On October 5, 2015, in response to a tweet by American politician Jeb Bush that read “Prayers for more Israeli victims of Palestinian terror. Israel has a right to defend itself from these attacks and we should stand with them,” Aref tweeted: “F**k Israel! they're the worst in mankind &continue to terrorize Palestinians Jeb ur just another Zionist puppet 🎭”

Aref’s tweet was written during a wave of terror attacks in Israel.  

In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians.

On July 21, 2014, Aref tweeted: “@ChristineBitar Obama is a Zionist donkey. When will the corruption end?”

On September 21, 2013, Aref tweeted: “The UN is ran by a bunch of Zionists meatheads.”

On the same day, Aref tweeted: “Why do the oppressed continued to become weaker and the oppressors continue to become more evil and stronger? #disfunctionalUN #zionists”

Equating Israel with Nazi Germany

On the same day, Aref tweeted: “@JBucknoff u should be ashamed of yourself for defending a government who is conducting a genocide!!Your punishment is coming soon.”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On October 10, 2015, Aref tweeted: “This makes me so sick to my stomach. 😞😷You should re-evaluate your morals&life if you support the Zionist regime.https://twitter.com/noor_k__/status/652993725833048065 …”

On October 9, 2015, Aref tweeted: “Ok I'm giving you all a fair warning. I'm about to put Israel on blast. The Israeli leaders are all racist to their core.” 

On April 14, 2015, Aref tweeted: “‘@FatimahA98: Israel, where it belongs #Israel https://twitter.com/FatimahA98/status/585983149307535360/photo/1pic.twitter.com/a4LN2c62yg ‘”

On November 18, 2014, Aref tweeted: “There is nothing more irritating than listening to Zionists boast about their ‘birth right’ as if they possess some kind of devinitity.”

On the same day, Aref tweeted: “Dear arrogant #Zionists, Remember you are the one who stole our land! Take your scummy,untouchable, birth right ass** back to Europe.”

On July 21, 2014, during OPE Aref tweeted: “@Remroum:Israel doesn't have a ‘moral army’&it's not acting in ‘self-defense.’It's deliberately targeting civilians in Gaza.That is a fact.”

On July 19, 2014, Aref shared a photo of herself holding a sign that read: “NOT A PENNY NOT A DIME ISRAEL OUT OF PALESTINE.”

On July 17, 2014, Aref tweeted: “All corrupt regimes will fall.. Including #Israel”

On July 12, 2014, Aref tweeted: “@ZNovetskyas Muslims we believe that killing is a sin stop defending Israel they're unjustly murdering Palestinians. It's not self defense.”

On July 11, 2014, Aref tweeted: “@bradkantor1 fyi Israeli didn't kill one single member of Hamas and yet they continue to rain bombs on civilians the majority of them r kids.”

It was reported that 631 Hamas-affiliated operatives were killed in OPE, as well as hundreds of operatives from Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terror groups. 

On July 10, 2014, Aref tweeted: “@clifford5H if the Palestinians were warned how did they die?They don't have fancy shelters to run to. Israel needs to stop the massacre.”

Throughout the summer of 2014 — during Operation Protective Edge (OPE) — Hamas's deployment of human shields was extensively documented and publicized. Hamas encouraged Gazans to act as human shields to frustrate Israeli efforts to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza. 

On July 9, 2014, Aref tweeted: “@janoxmahone Israel demolishing homes, and slaughtering over 100,000 people since 1948 is not ‘defense.’ That's not how you make peace.😒”

On November 28, 2013, Aref tweeted: “@NoorKustiro #Israel is the cancer of the middle east.”

Also on November 28, 2013, Aref tweeted: “@NoorKustiro I know the news headlines boggle my mind. I f**king hate those #Zionist bastards. They can burn slowly in hell.”

Also on that day, Aref tweeted: “Native Americans 💥🔫The pilgrims Palestinians 💥🔫 Isreali Zionists #historyrepeats.”

On June 11, 2013, Aref tweeted a quote from anti-Israel poet Remi Kanazi: “‘@Remroum: #NobodyLikesYouBecause you invaded their village, blew up their children & told the world you were killing terrorists.’#zionists”

SJP Activism

On March 26, 2017, SJP at UB posted a photo on Facebook of Aref posing for a photo with anti-Israel activist Miko Peled. 

In January 2017, Peled said [00:00:06] that the Israeli army was one of the “best trained, best equipped, best fed, terrorist organizations in the world” and claimed: [00:00:16] that “their entire purpose is terrorism.”

On September 26, 2016, Aref tweeted: “Stop in for sjp's first gbm [general board meeting]. Hope to see you there.” The tweet featured a flier for the SJP UB’s “1st General Body Meeting.” 

On April 4, 2015, SJP at UB posted a photo on Facebook of Aref standing in front of the group’s mock apartheid wall, holding a sign that read: “#ISUPPORTPALESTINEBECAUSE… Palestinian children should wake up to the sounds of birds singing not to the sounds of drones dropping bombs.” 

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
