Niyat Esaias

Overview

Niyat Esaias is a medical student who expressed support for Hamas terrorism during Israel’s war against Hamas in late 2023.

The incident occurred following a series of Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.

The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Support for Hamas Terrorism against Israeli Civilians

On December 21, 2023, the Washington Free Beacon published a screenshot of an undated Instagram Stories that Esias published [image 8] during Israel’s war against Hamas.

Esaias wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Is it fair to label individuals or groups as terrorists when they are fighting against oppression? Should Black South Africans who used violence to end apartheid be labeled as terrorists? Should Haitians who fought and won against their oppressors be labeled as terrorists?”

Esaias concluded her Instagram Stories post, writing: “Should have black enslaved folks who fought back against the ‘slave masters’ be labeled as terrorists? Call Palestinians what you want in the moment but without a doubt history will always show that they are the oppressed battling against their oppressors #freepalestine.”

The same post that Esaias shared included a chart published during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against Hamas in May 2021. The chart was titled: “The Human Cost Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
