Nisha Toomey
Nisha Toomey [Nisha Geis] was arrested in November 2023 for vandalizing a Jewish-owned business during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. She also expressed support for Hamas terrorism and spread hatred of Israel. Toomey is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On November 14, 2023, Toomey was arrested and charged with “mischief over $5000,” according to records obtained from the Toronto Police Service Hate Crime Unit.
The incident occurred at the Indigo bookstore in Toronto during Israel’s war against Hamas. Israel launched the war after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks. Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds more that day. For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
As of June 2024, Nisha Toomey was affiliated with the anti-Israel campus group at the University of Toronto (UofT), UofT Occupy for Palestine (Occupy UofT).
As of March 2025, Nisha Toomey's LinkedIn profile said she worked full-time as a postdoctoral researcher at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and was located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Also as of March 2025, Nisha Toomey was listed online as a learning coach and dissertation/thesis specialist.
As of the same date, Nisha Toomey's LinkedIn said she received a PhD in social justice education from UofT in 2022.
In November 2023, during Israel's war against the Hamas terror group, 11 anti-Israel agitators were arrested after vandalizing a branch of the Indigo bookstore in Toronto, Ontario. Agitators defaced the building with red paint and plastered posters accusing Indigo's Jewish founder and pro-Israel philanthropist, Heather Reisman, of "funding genocide."
Police charged the suspects with "hate-motivated mischief," "conspiracy to commit an indictable offense" and "criminal harassment," reporting that they “engaged in threatening conduct that caused a person to reasonably fear for their personal safety.”
Indigo Books & Music is a chain with branches across Canada.
As of October 19, 2023, Toomey was listed [no. 763] as a signatory on a pro-Hamas statement titled: “Artists & Academics in Canada: Statement of Solidarity with Palestine.”
The statement said: “We understand that the events of this week did not occur in a vacuum…The whole world understood in the case of Ukraine that resistance to military occupation is justified...The militant reaction from Palestinians in Gaza on October 7, 2023, is a result of decades of cruel and oppressive treatment.”
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.

In 2024, Toomey organized two rounds of a reading group, titled: "Settler colonialism, racial capitalism, land and resistance from 'Canada' to Palestine."
Toomey wrote on her personal website: "Over the winter I joined a wonderful reading group exploring archival liberation in Palestine..." and linked to the group's page, which said, referring to Israelis: "...European settlers adopt nativized names, they speak a resurrected language in place of their European tongues..."
One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to claim [00:06:46] that Jews, particularly Ashkenazi Jews, do not descend from the ancient Israelites. This claim alleges that Jews are white Europeans who lack a connection to the Land of Israel.
The description of the reading group also claimed: "The texts in our syllabus...reveal the relationships between the archive, the land, and the supremacist settler colonial logic that have bloodied our screens since 8th October 2023, and Western hands since the inception of Zionism in 19th century Europe and the founding of the Zionist state in 1948."
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
