Nesreen Mustafa
Overview
Nesreen Mustafa has spread incitement, equated Israel with Nazi Germany and promoted hatred of Israel on TwitterMustafa is also a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In 2018 and 2019, Mustafa indicated on Twitter that she worked “with kids” in an elementary school. As of June 2020, her Twitter said she was located in California.
Also as of June 2020, Mustafa’s LinkedIn page said she was a Customer Service Representative at City Best Insurance, Inc, in Fontana, California, from “Dec 2019 - Present.”
As of the same date, Mustafa used the alias Nesreen نسرين on Twitter and the handle nesso_21 as well as on Instagram. Mustafa has maintained a second Instagram account. where sheused the alias “clock_strikes12 .”
Spreading Incitement
On October 1, 2015, at the beginning of the “Knife Intifada,” Mustafa tweeted: “A picture is worth a thousand words! #PalestineFlag #Palestine #AlAqsa.” The tweet featured a graphic depicting the United Nations holding back the Palestinians, while Israel attacked the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.In October 2015, there was an upsurge in violence across Israel incited by Palestinian political and religious leaders. The wave of stabbings, known as the “Knife Intifada,” was characterized by young Palestinians throughout the country stabbing and attempting to stab Israeli civilians. The attacks were incited by Palestinian leaders propagating the libel that Israel intended to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
Equating Israel with Nazi Germany
On August 4, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Mustafa tweeted: “How is this not a halacoust!!? #FreeGaza #FreePalestine ‘Israeli official calls for concentration camps in Gaza http://www.worldbulletin.net/palestine/141870/israeli-official-calls-for-concentration-camps-in-gaza …’”Mustafa’s tweet linked to an article from “World Bulletin News” that misquoted an Israeli cabinet minister and claimed that he called for placing Palestinians in “concentration camps.”
Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
On July 29, 2014, Mustafa tweeted: “#FreeGaza #FreePalestine #holocaust.”
Mustafa’s tweet featured a graphic of a Holocaust survivor showing the number tatooed to his arm, with a caption that read: “Back when I studied the Holocaust in school, I remember thinking, ‘how did Hitler get over 6 million people to follow along blindly and not fight back?’ Then I realized, I’m watching my fellow Americans take the same path.”
On February 23, 2013, Mustafa tweeted: “It shocks me how easily people can kill others. It happened between the Jews & Germans, it's been happening between the Jews & the…”
Spreading Hatred of Israel
On May 2, 2020, Mustafa tweeted: “A customer came in today asked where I was from & I said Palestine & he goes.. ‘I support you guys. You guys are the good guys. & everyone is making you out to be the bad ones. I don’t support fake Jews and murderous Isr*el.’ With so much passion & confidence I wanted to hug him!”On August 11, 2014, during Israel’s OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “If someone is defending themseleves I know a few will die, but not an entire population! That's mass murder, that's genocide! #FreeGaza.”
On August 5, 2014, during OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “Gaza summary. #FreeGaza #FreePalestine #GazaUnderAttack #iSupportGaza #StandForGaza #ThisIsGenocide #StopTheGenocide.”
Mustafa’s tweet featured a graphic of a “Summary of the Gaza Conflict,” which cited the higher Palestinian death toll, during OPE. The caption read: “Is it Genocide, what is your conscience telling?”
On July 30, 2014, during OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “...& knowledge about the situation. & blaming everything on Hamas. What Israel is doing is a crime against humanity. None of them want peace.”
On July 28, 2014, again during OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “‘Hamas misfire kills ____’I mean really? Some ‘journalist’ we have. Biased, Islamaphobic jacka**es! #FreeGaza #FreePalestine.”
Hamas fired rockets from Shifa Hospital (Shifa) at Israeli population centers during Operation Protective Edge. Hamas misfires also struck Shifa and the nearby al-Shati refugee camp. Hamas cleanup crews then concealed the evidence of the misfires, as was confirmed by Amnesty International and an independent Italian journalist.
On July 27, 2014, during OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “Israel made all sorts of enemies for the US. This made me giggle #FreeGaza #FreePalestine #GazaUnderAttack.”
Mustafa’s tweet featured a photo of a Jesuit priest, John Sheehan, with a quote ascribed to him, that read: “Every time anyone says that Israel is our only friend in the Middle East, I can’t help but think that before Israel, we had no enemies in the Middle East.”
On July 21, 2014, again during Israel’s OPE, Mustafa tweeted: “Ohh yeah Israel wants peace... They never have & never will. #StopTheGenocide #FreeGaza #FreePalestine.”
The tweet featured a graphic with a distorted quote, ascribed to Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, that said: “We must expel the Arabs and take their place.”
Supporting BDS
On August 8, 2014, Mustafa tweeted: “‘Starbucks: We Don't Give Money To Israel http://huff.to/1zYk7Q2 ‘ Is this real? I'm so confused! Dx #StarBucks #BoycottIsrael #FreePalestine.”On August 4, 2014, Mustafa tweeted: “And thank you loorrdd nutella doesn't support Israel I would of been heart broken!!! Lol #LongLiveNutella #LongLivePalestine.”
That same day, Mustafa tweeted: “I just downloaded the Boycott app&went on a barcode scanning rampage.Feeling good I only had a few Israel supporting products in my house!(:.”
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
