Nasim Asgari, expressed support for Hamas

Nasim Asgari has expressed support for terrorists and denied Hamas terrorist war crimes. She has also spread hatred of Zionists and Israel on social media.

Asgari published her social media posts during Israel’s war against Hamas, called “Swords of Iron.” Israel launched the war after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The terror attacks left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.

As of September 2024, Asgari’s personal website said she was “currently exploring textiles, writing music & completing her second poetry collection.” Asgari’s Facebook said she was a “Multidisciplinary Artist | Poetry | Songwriting | Visual Art | Textiles | Instillation [sic] | Performance.”

Also as of September 2024, Asgari’s personal website said she was located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Support for Terrorists (PFLP, Hamas)

On October 15, 2023, Asgari posted on Instagram a photo of terrorist Leila Khaled holding a firearm. In the post, Asgari wrote: “#FreePalestine #LongLivePalestine.”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.

On December 3, 2023, Asgari posted on X: “Hamas definitely the good guys. 🤍🫂.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

On April 20, 2024, Asgari posted on X: “even in death they will fear you. tell me why they fear martyrdom so much?! GLORY TO THE MARTYRS.”

Asgari reposted on X a May 29, 2024 post that said: “never question how the oppressed resist.” The post included a photo of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Among anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for terrorism and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

Yahya (Yehiya) Sinwar masterminded the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel and has been a Hamas terrorist leader since 2017. In 2015, the U.S. government designated him as a terrorist. Israel sentenced him to four life sentences, including for his role in abducting and murdering two Israeli soldiers in 1989. While Sinwar was in prison, Israeli doctors performed life-saving surgery on him for a brain tumor. In 2011, he was released in an exchange of 1,027 terrorists for an Israeli soldier kidnapped by Hamas.

Denying Hamas Terrorist War Crimes

In a March 11, 2024, X post, Asgari referred to the investigations into the violent sexual crimes committed by Hamas on October 7, 2023, as “imaginary investigations.”

Denial of the Hamas war crimes of October 7, 2023, among anti-Israel activists has been likened to Holocaust denial among neo-Nazis.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas raped women next to the bodies of dead friends. Some were raped and then shot in the head. Others, including young girls, were raped and murdered or mutilated in other ways.

Israeli officials opened an unprecedented investigation into the widespread sexual assault. Forensic analysis of corpses showed evidence of torture and rape. Hamas terrorists said they were given explicit orders to carry out the atrocities, including chopping off legs and raping the corpses of murdered victims.

A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

Hatred of Zionists

On December 25, 2023, Asgari posted on X: “f**k every zionist & every supporter of ‘israel’. hell waits for you.”

On February 13, 2024, Asgari posted on X: “the most depraved people. curse every zionist.”

On April 10, 2024, Asgari posted on X: “imagine if @YorkUPresident wasn’t a useless careless zionist.”

Hatred of Israel

On December 7, 2023, Asgari posted on X: “‘ISRAEL’ IS A TERRORIST STATE /
ZIONISM IS A DEATH CULT IS RACISM IS WHITE SUPREMACY IS A KILLING IDEOLOGY.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 other countries have adopted the definition as well.

On December 6, 2023, Asgari posted on X: “...i’m curious how @EquityYorkU is approaching conversations about Israel’s textbook genocide, colonialism, apartheid & occupation…”
