Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

Demonizing Israel

Syed retweeted a May 19, 2021 tweet that featured a meme with a caption that read: “The world needs to stop Israel’s genocidal, bloodthirsty regime.”

On May 14, 2021, Syed tweeted: “the way zionists keep talking about ‘tHe MeDiA iS pOrTrAyInG uS wRoNg’ you have the backing of the most powerful nations on earth, perhaps take a second to realize your ‘country’ is just that evil.”

Syed retweeted a May 14, 2021 tweet, that read: “the money the united states sends to israel is money stolen from civilians. instead of providing you with housing, healthcare, food, public transportation, infrastructure, better education, etc, they’re using your tax dollars to fund a murderous ethnostate.”

On May 12, 2021, during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW), Syed tweeted: “the people who lived in Jerusalem 3,000 years ago are the ancestors of those you’re trying to ethnically cleanse the region from.”

The tweet was responding to a tweet by the state of Israel’s official Twitter account, that read: “We have been here for 3,000 years and we're here to stay. Terrorists trying to plunge the region into violence and darkness will never prevail. #IsraelUnderAttack.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On May 11, 2021, Syed tweeted: “from palestinians you’ll get pictures of dead children and from israelis you’ll get videos of young adults cowering from no visible imminent threat.”

On June 10, 2020, Syed tweeted: “stop supporting israeli apartheid ❤️.”

Promoting Incitement

On May 11, 2021, Syed tweeted: “Israel does this every Ramadan, truly evil.”

In April 2021, at the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a series of viral videos circulated on Palestinian social media showing Palestinian youths physically assaulting Jews in Jerusalem. Israeli police and civilians were reportedly attacked by rioters with firecrackers, stones and glass bottles. Amid the escalation, Hamas fired rockets into Israel from Gaza. Israel responded by striking a Hamas weapons manufacturing site, a weapon smuggling tunnel and a military post.

On May 10, 2021, Syed tweeted: “A colonial state’s military storming a Masjid [Mosque] in Ramadan while its full of worshippers. That’s was going on.”

In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.

On June 6, 2016, Syed tweeted in response to a tweet by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wishing Muslims a “Ramadan Kareem [Happy Ramadan],” saying: “Maybe stop bombing Palestine every time it comes around then.”

Support for a Terrorist

Syed retweeted a June 23, 2020 tweet, that read: “Ahmed Erekat, 27, beautiful young man. A son. A brother. Fiancée. My baby cousin. Israeli cowards shot him multiple times, left him to bleed for 1.5 hours and blamed him for his death. Tonight was his sister’s wedding, his was next month. We failed to protect him. I am so sorry.”

Ahmad Erekat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat; Ahmed Erakat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured. The incident was captured on video.

Support for BDS

On May 29, 2021, Syed tweeted: “is paulas choice bds safe?”

On May 25, 2021, Syed tweeted: “talking about the BDS movement like it’s some sort of psychological warfare as if i wouldn’t boycott things for much much less at stake get a grip.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
