Nadeen Abuhasan

Overview

Nadeen Abuhasan has demonized Israel, promoted anti-Zionist conspiracy theories and spread anti-Israel propaganda on Twitter.

Abuhasan was affiliated with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Simmons College (Simmons SJP). She was also affiliated with SJP at Northeastern University (NU SJP) and at Boston University (BU SJP).

Abuhasan was affiliated with the Muslim Students Association (MSA) and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Abuhasan is a 2016 graduate of Simmons College, where she majored in Neuroscience and Behavior.

As of April 2019, Abuhasan’s LinkedIn page said she is a User Experience (UX) Designer, Assistant Vice President at State Street in Boston, Massachusetts.

Demonizing Israel

On July 22, 2014, Abuhasan tweeted a photo from an anti-Israel demonstration opposing Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE). The photo featured protesters holding signs that read: Operation Protective Edge is Genocide.” and “IDF=Terrorism.”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014, to stop rocket attacks targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On November 20, 2012, during Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD) Abuhasan tweeted: “#Israel you can't hide, we will charge you with GENOCIDE! #Gaza #BostonProtest.” On the same day, Abuhasan tweeted: “Not another nickel, not another dime...NO MORE $$$$$ for #Israel 's crimes!! #Gaza #BostonProtest.”

OPD was launched to stop Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza on Israeli civilians. From November 14-21, 2012, Palestinian terrorist groups fired more than 1,506 rockets at Israel. The majority of those rockets struck Israel, damaging homes, schools and other civilian areas.

On November 19, 2012, Abuhasan tweeted: “#LiesImTiredOfHearing Israel was forced to respond to the ‘rockets’ of #Gaza to defend itself/citizens.”

On November 18, 2012, Abuhasan tweeted a fabricatedquote, attributed to Albert Einstein, that read: “‘It would be my greatest sadness to see Zionists (Jews) do to Palestinian Arabs much of what Nazis did to Jews.’ #AlbertEinstein #Gaza.”

On the same day, Abuhasan tweeted: “What's happening in #Gaza is not war; Gaza has no army, no airforce, no equipment for defense. This. Is. Not. War. It's genocide!”

On October 13, 2012, Abuhasan tweeted: “Why do we still call the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.. a war? A war has 2 sides...this is a genocide, a slaughter. #Gaza #Palestine.”

Anti-Zionist Conspiracy Theories

On July 23, 2014, Abuhasan promoted on Twitter “International day of Al-Quds... All across North America.” to show support for “the innocent civilian victims of global Zionism…” The poster Abuhasan tweeted called to “Free The Great Al-Aqsa mosque” and “Free Palestine.”

The Iranian government inaugurated “International Quds Day” in 1979 as a global annual protest against Israel’s existence. The protest has historically been a platform for anti-Semitism. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, at the 2009 International Quds Day protest, claimed: “The pretext (Holocaust) for the creation of the Zionist regime (Israel) is false... It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim.”

On July 18, 2014, Abuhasan tweeted: “‘To learn who rules over you just find out who you can't criticize’ - Voltaire #GazaUnderFire #Zionism.” The quote is by neo-Nazi Kevin Alfred Strom and misattributed to Voltaire.

On the same day, Abuhasan tweeted: “Zio media and Zio money control politics. Zio politics protect Zio banks and Zio media covers it all up = Zio matrix of power #zionism.”

Spreading Anti-Israel Propaganda

On October 16, 2015, Abuhasan posted a Facebook status that read: “About time.

‘This is pretty remarkable to see on a mainstream American cable news channel. Yesterday MSNBC showed how much Palestinian land has been lost to Israel from 1947 to the present day.’”

The post included a photo of a misleading series of maps aired by MSNBC.
The Map That Lies,” is a series of maps that presented lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land” purportedly stolen by Israel.
In October 2015, the United States cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.

On November 30, 2012, Abuhasan posted a link to an anti-Israel propaganda video, she tweeted: “Hey people! Time to STOP saying ‘it's too complicated’! #Palestine #JewishVoicePeace
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Y58njT2oXfE# …!”

The misleading video — produced by the anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) —  accused Israel of “Institutionalized discrimination” against non-Jews and ended with a call to join the BDS movement.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

MSA

The MSA was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
