Arrested At Pro-Hamas Encampment at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn)
On May 10, 2024, Abuasi was arrested [00:00:31] at the pro-Hamas encampment at Penn, called the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment”.As of the same date, NBC 10 Philadelphia reported [00:03:40] that Abuasi, along with other pro-Hamas protestors, was told to leave College Green, the site of the encampment, due to a “violation of trespassing laws.”
As of the same date, The Daily Philadelphian reported that a University spokesperson said: “‘Penn Police, with support from the Philadelphia Police Department, took steps to remove the unauthorized encampment on College Green…protestors were given multiple warnings that they were trespassing and offered the opportunity to voluntarily leave and avoid citation…those who chose to stay did so knowing that they would be arrested and removed.’” The spokesperson added that “approximately 33 individuals were arrested…and cited for defiant trespass.”
On May 7, 2024, Abuasi was featured in a video posted on Instagram speaking to the press at the pro-Hamas encampment at Penn. The text next to the post said: “
FIRST GAZA SOLIDARITY ENCAMPMENT AT PENN PRESS CONFERENCE.”In the video, Abuasi said [00:00:11]: “We, the Gaza Solidarity Encampment, have called you here today…”
On April 25, 2024, anti-Israel activists from Penn, Temple University and Drexel University set up the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" on the Penn campus to protest Israel's war against Hamas.
Close to 200 anti-Israel college encampments were set up in North America in the spring of 2024. The first took place at Columbia University. Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities, used anti-Semitic language in their activism, promoted BDS and protested Israel’s war against Hamas.
Speaking at a Rally in Support of Hamas Terrorist War Crimes
On October 28, 2023, following the massacre of over 1,200 Israeli citizens by the Hamas terror group, Abuasi was a featured speaker [02:18:09] at an anti-Israel rally in Philadelphia where she represented the Philly Palestine Coalition. During her speech, she called for the destruction of Israel. On October 28, 2023, the Philadelphia Palestine Coalition (PPC) held a rally at Philadelphia City Hall calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas terrorists. Hamas committed multiple war crimes against Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023, including the murder of approximately 1,200 Israelis. Israel declared war immediately.
Speakers at the rally led chants supporting terrorism and calling for Israel’s destruction.
One speaker led [00:09:55] the pro-terror chant: “Free free Palestine! Free free Palestine! There is only one solution! Intifada, revolution! There is only one solution! Intifada, revolution!”
Speakers said [00:04:10] that beyond a ceasefire, they wanted “liberation,” meaning “ending the siege on Gaza, ending the occupation and decolonizing Palestine from the River to The Sea.” Rally-goers chanted [00:00:02], in Arabic: “From the River to The Sea, Palestine is Arab!” Both chants are a call for the destruction of Israel.
At the rally, Abuasi said [02:19:30]: “A ceasefire is only the bare minimum. A ceasefire is not liberation. Liberation means ending the siege on Gaza, ending the occupation and decolonizing Palestine from the river to the sea.”
Abuasi continued [02:19:48]: “So this will not be the only time that we’re out on the streets. If anything, the streets are ours and we can take it anytime we want. And we will…We will continue to plan…liberation until liberation comes.”Earlier she had said [02:18:38]: “...the Palestinian cause is for every revolutionary wherever they may be.”
Glorifying Violence
On March 8, 2022, Abuasi posted a photo on Instagram [slide 2] of a necklace in the shape of the map of Israel with a rifle embedded in it. She captioned the post: “On the Palestinian woman within the resistance movement: She has a right to love and be loved.’ -Leila Khaled.”Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.
On January 23, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “...Our armed struggle and resistance is anti-imperialist and part of an internationalist struggle. Palestinians should not have to paint their cause and struggle in a light that is favorable to western imperialists.”
On January 19, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “And to the last pulse in our veins, we shall resist…by any means necessary. #SaveSheikhJarrah.”
In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
On January 1, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “The Zionist entity has absolutely no right to safety or security. It is an occupying power that was installed by imperialist forces via a continuous, prolonged ethnic cleansing. Palestinians have every legal/moral right and duty to engage in armed resistance! Never forget that.”
On the same date, Abuasi wrote on Instagram: “we sitting and observing the armed struggle from a distance, in the west, must not demonize it or brush it off… Palestinians under the entire occupation, in every capacity, have a duty to exercise their international right to resistance; and that includes armed resistance… should Palestinians engage in it, that their right be affirmed and supported… Long live the resistance.”
On December 29, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “... Palestine will not be liberated through chocolates and flowers. Our liberation necessities armed struggle.”
On December 28, 2021, Abuasi tweeted photos of a slingshot being pulled back and wrote: “I’m having too much fun with this. Glory to our rock throwers!”
Although romanticized as a form of “popular resistance,” rock throwing remains a deadly form of violence.
Abuasi’s tweet included [photo 2] text from the article which said: “...regardless of what is mandated by international law, the Palestinians possess a fundamental moral right to resist their ongoing colonisation and oppression through armed resistance and that right must be recognised and supported.”
On September 28, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “Today, September 28th, marks 21 years since the start of the Second #Intifada… Glory to the martyrs. Long live the resistance. Long live the intifada. Until liberation.”
The second intifada (2000-2005) was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.
On August 2, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “Globalize the intifada.”
Anti-Semitism
On January 28, 2020, Abuasi tweeted: “... U.S politics has always been hostage to the Israel lobby & candidates lose elections if they don’t support them.#FreePalestine.”
On September 22, 2020, Abuasi tweeted: “These ‘apolitical’ Israeli Birthright trips are intended to brainwash jews and tell them that the land they’re touring is rightfully theirs & justly acquired while thousands of Palestinians are marginalized/denied the right to return.”
Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
On March 28, 2021, Abuasi tweeted in reference to social media platform Clubhouse: “The amount of counter rooms I’ve made in response to zios like Alex is hilariously tragic
the power we have to piss them off is *chefs kiss*
. ”The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.
On June 6, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “Zio is right up there with cracker and colonizer

” in response to a tweet that said: “Normalize using Zio as a slur.”“Cracker” is a derogatory term used in reference to white people.
Incitement
On April 21, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “My fellow Muslims, as we enter the last ten days of Ramadan, keep cognizant of Laylatul al Qadr and DO more for your Palestinian brothers and sisters defending Al Quds. It is not enough to say Al Aqsa is ‘ours’ as Muslims. Prove it. Defend it.”The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda has led to multiple periods of violence against Israeli civilians.
On April 16, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “500 or more settlers are planning to invade Masjid Al Aqsa under IOF protection. Understand, that settlers work hand in hand with the settler colonial project. The Israeli state is made by the settlers and for the settlers. They enable each other. #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”
The next day, Abuasi continued in another tweet: “Update: they did invade and they bombarded the compound while being guided by the IOF. Separating the settlers from the settler-state is naive and ahistorical. The settlers ARE the state. #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”
“IOF” stands for “Israeli Occupation Forces,” a derogatory name used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army in place of its official name, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
On April 14, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “... The resilience of our people is unmatched. The IOF escalates their aggression annually during Ramadan but our people will continue to resist. #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”
Ramadan is an Islamic holy month during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and are meant to engage in self-reflection, repentance and the giving of charity. Ramadan is frequently marked by increased anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric throughout the Arab world, Palestinian violence in Israel and heightened tensions centered in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Also on April 14, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “...The IOF is and always has been the main aggressor; invading everything they possible can. #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”
Support for Terrorists

” on X. Her X bio also said in Arabic: “وإلى آخر نبض في عروقي، سأقاوم [And until my last breath, I will resist].”On January 17, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “... Everyone stop what you’re doing and read Leila Khaled’s autobiography. Thank you.” Her tweet included a link to Khaled’s autobiography.
On July 12, 2021, Abuasi tweeted about a Clubhouse event she would feature in where she would have a live reading and discussion of Leila Khaled’s autobiography.
On July 8, 2021, Abuasi tweeted promoting a Clubhouse discussion event she would feature in, to commemorate Ghassan Kanafani.
Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.
On June 10, 2021, Abuasi tweeted promoting a Clubhouse event she would feature in with a discussion and reading of the PFLP’s 1969 book titled: “Strategy for the Liberation of Palestine.”
The terrorist organization’s strategy book calls [p.62] for violent “armed struggle” against Israel to achieve the “liberation of Palestine” and the book also lists [p.4] Israel and [p.6] the U.S. among its “enemies.”
Leading Anti-Israel Protests
The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”
Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture. Zionism is a core part of the identity of most Jews.
Abuasi posted photos of herself from the May 15, 2022 protest on Instagram on May 20, 2022 and wrote: “... For us to be liberated, we have to decolonize our way of thinking; our mind. We have to believe we truly can be liberated. And we can. We will. By any means necessary.”
On May 16, 2021, Abuasi organized and led an SJP UD anti-Israel protest that called to “Free Palestine and Support Columbian Protesters.” The flyer for the protest featured a graphic of Palestinians armed with rifles and text that read: “RESISTING COLONIALISM SINCE 1948.”
On May 15, 2021, Abuasi led a protest held in Philadelphia titled: “PHILADELPHIA: #SaveSheikhJarrah” that was co-hosted by anti-Israel groups including Philly BDS and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) in Philadelphia as well as SJP chapters at Temple University and Drexel University in Philadelphia.
Protesters held signs that said: “RESISTANCE IS JUSTIFIED” and “WHEN INJUSTICE BECOMES LAW… RESISTANCNCE (SIC) BECOMES A DUTY!!!” Other signs said “F**K ISRAEL,” claimed that “ZIONISM IS GENOCIDE” and called to “END ZIONISM.”
Abuasi posted a photo of herself on Facebook at the protest and captioned it: “From the river to the sea...

”“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
Calling for Israel to be Dismantled
On February 2, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “...Palestine will not be liberated until the entirety of the Zionist entity is dismantled.”On January 19, 2022, Abuasi tweeted: “Yes. The Isr*eli state must cease to exist. Let’s not beat around the bush.”
On same date, Abuasi tweeted about Israel: “...The state itself. The whole Zionist movement. This isn’t some policy issue that can be fixed with reform. Dismantle and remove the entire state…”
Also on January 19, 2022, Abuasi tweeted that Israel’s existence “is predicated on the very same continuous ethnic cleansing, since ‘48. The state must not exist.”
On June 22, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “Israel is illegitimate. Abolish it.”
On May 31, 2021, Abuasi tweeted: “Make no mistake: It is not free Palestine from East Jerusalem to Area C. It is free Palestine from the river to the sea.”
Hatred of Israel and Zionists
On May 30, 2024, Abuasi posted on X: “In our situation—in Palestine—the only violence that exists is colonial violence…this characterization of our dissent as ‘violent’ is inaccurate and ahistorical. Palestinians in a concentration camp are speaking the only language colonizers seem to understand.”Anti-Israel activists refer to Gaza as a “concentration camp” because of the United Nations-approved [pp. 39–41], Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza. The blockade was implemented in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets.

Solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh
In November 2021, Abuasi tweeted in support of Mashayekh who was [00:11:08] in the middle of a national controversy over anti-Semitism she spread on social media that year.In October 2021, Mashayekh was listed as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator for USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering (Viterbi). In May 2021, she tweeted: “I want to f**king kill every motherf**king Zionist.” She also tweeted: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews]
."Mashayekh has also spread violent hatred of Israeli Jews, called for the destruction of Israel and America, expressed support for Hamas and glorified terrorists.
On November 26, 2021, Abuasi tweeted to USC: “Our expectations were low but holy crap…a student at USC has been the victim of a vile smear campaign as a result of simply being Palestinian and this how you respond? YOUR student was doxxed, blackmailed AND harassed. This is appalling. I 100% stand with @intifadyas.”
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
