Overview
Muayad Shahin has spread anti-Semitism, promoted incitement and called for the destruction of Israel. Shahin has spread hatred of Zionists and Israel, and denied the Jewish connection to Israel.In 2021, Shahin expressed solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh, a graduate student at the University of Southern California (USC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator who tweeted her desire to “kill every motherf**king Zionist.”
Shahin was affiliated with the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).
On May 24, 2021, Shahin posted [slide 5] on Instagram that he had “gotten a job as a researcher at the #2 hospital system in the world.” Shahin’s post included a photo of himself wearing an ID card with the Cleveland Clinic logo on it. Cleveland Clinic was ranked second on Newsweek’s World's Best Hospitals 2021 list.
On May 27, 2021, Shahin tweeted that he “just applied to med school.”
On October 18, 2021, Shahin tweeted that he “JUST GOT INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL” and that he was “GOING TO BE A DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!”
In April 2022, Shahin featured [slide 10] in an Instagram photo posted by the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UC College of Medicine) of “accepted students for the Class of 2026.”
As of August 2023, Shahin used the handle “@powderpuffpali” on Twitter. As of January 2022, Shahin used the handle “ibnfilastinn” and screen name “mumu” on Twitter. As of January 2022, he used the handle “muayadddd” on Instagram.
As of June 2021, Shahin used the handle “@levantinehabibi” and username “م 𓂆
” on Twitter. Earlier in June 2021, Shahin used the Twitter handles “@dabkeDILF” and “@hummushubby.”
As of August 2023, Shahin’s LinkedIn said he was located in the greater Cleveland area.

Also on May 29, 2021, Shahin tweeted “literally yes” in response to a tweet that said “So what should Israeli Jews do? Go back to Europe?”
On the same date, Shahin tweeted: “yall are weirdly obsessed with what isr*elis will do when Palestine is liberated. i truly dont think yall understand how many of them have dual citizenship elsewhere in Europe and the US…”
Shahin continued in response to his tweet: “we didnt ask u to come here so why should we concern ourselves with what you do after we take our land back?

On May 26, 2021, Shahin tweeted defending Palestinians “referring to zi*nists as ‘yahood’ [Jews].” Shahin wrote in another tweet: “...At the end of the day, all of their oppressors in the IOF are indeed Jewish and I don’t think calling them that is a slur lol.”
“IOF” stands for Israeli Occupation Forces, a derogatory name used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army in place of its official name, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
In 2019, the Washington Post reported that 85 percent of Israeli Druze men serve in the army. Israeli Arabs are exempt from Israel’s mandatory military draft, but in 2021 over a thousand Israeli Arabs were voluntarily serving in the IDF, including those from Muslim, Christian and Bedouin communities.
Shahin retweeted a May 21, 2021 tweet that said: “FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
ISRAELI FORCES HAVE RAIDED AL-AQSA TODAY!” The tweet included a video of clashes on the Temple Mount.
After a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was reached on May 21, 2021, Palestinian rioters at Al Aqsa threw stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli police officers outside the mosque.
On May 26, 2021, Shahin tweeted: “glory to each and every Palestinian martyr.” Shahin’s tweet was in reference to another tweet that condemned praise for Palestinian terrorism.

On June 20, 2021, Shahin tweeted: “weird how people expect Palestinians to be okay with our own genocide.”
On June 18, 2021, Shahin tweeted that Palestinians were facing “medical apartheid” in reference to coronavirus vaccines.
All Israel's citizens, including Arabs, were provided equal and free access to a coronavirus vaccine.
In June 2021, after Israel delivered 100,000 vaccine doses as part of a deal to transfer 1.4 million vaccines to the PA, the PA canceled the agreement, claiming the vaccines were too close to their expiration dates. Israel then used the rejected doses to vaccinate Israeli children and transferred 700,000 doses to South Korea in another deal.

In October 2021, Mashayekh was listed as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator for USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering (Viterbi). In May 2021, she tweeted: “I want to f**king kill every motherf**king Zionist.” She also tweeted: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews]]
.”
Mashayekh has also spread violent hatred of Israeli Jews, called for the destruction of Israel and America, expressed support for Hamas and glorified terrorists.
Mashayekh was condemned after Canary Mission exposed her anti-Semitic tweets.

Spreading Anti-Semitism
On May 29, 2021, Shahin tweeted: “asking Palestinians to live peacefully with isr*elis is like asking Jews to live peacefully with Nazis”The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Promoting Incitement
Shahin retweeted a May 9, 2021 tweet that claimed: “#BREAKING Israeli police storm #AlAqsa compound in the early hours of Monday with heavy tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets firing at worshippers in the complex and inside Mosque spaces…”In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
Shahin wrote on the same Instagram post: “...I no longer will tolerate both-siders…Isr*el’s existence is violent settler colonialism. Free Palestine until it’s backwards. And we mean that…”
On May 16, 2021, Shahin posted photos from an anti-Israel protest on Instagram and wrote in a comment below the post: “...FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA BABY.”

Denying Jewish Connection to Israel
