Mohammad Mustafa
Mohammad Mustafa was arrested during an anti-Israel rally in April 2024. He has called for Israel's destruction, expressed support for Hamas terrorism and spread hatred of Israelis and Zionists.
Mustafa led multiple anti-Israel protests after Hamas's October 7, 2023, terror attacks, which included mass murder, torture, rape and kidnappings and left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead.
Mustafa is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In 2021, Mustafa was active with the anti-Israel group American Muslims for Palestine (AMP).
As of April 2025, Mustafa's LinkedIn profile said he was the founder and executive chair of Palestine Diaspora Movement (PDM), a "nonprofit grassroots organization dedicated to the liberation of Palestine."
As of the same date, PDM offered "Resistance 101: Palestinian resistance for beginners" online course, which expressed support for terrorism, promoted martyrdom and called for Israel's destruction.
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
As of April 2025, Mustafa's LinkedIn said he was studying for a bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics and economics at Ohio State University (OSU), slated to graduate in 2026. OSU is located in Columbus, Ohio.
As of the same date, Mustafa's LinkedIn said he worked part-time as a logistics coordinator at TKE Distribution in Vandalia, Ohio.
On April 29, 2024, Mustafa posted on Instagram: "On April 25th, after being...arrested...by OSUPD [Ohio State University Police Department]..."
On April 25, 2024, The Columbus Dispatch reported that 36 activists were arrested and charged "with criminal trespassing" during an anti-Israel encampment protest at OSU.
WOSU reported that protesters called on the "university to end funding to companies that support Israel." During the protest, activists chanted: "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Zionists have got to go!" and "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
Nearly 200 anti-Israel college encampments were set up in North America in spring 2024. Activists harassed Jews with antisemitic slurs, expressed [slide 5] support [00:02:45] for Hamas terrorism and called [00:04:45] for Israel's destruction. They blocked Jews from campus facilities and limited access to those with special wristbands or who said they were not a Zionist.
As of April 2025, Mustafa's LinkedIn About section said that Palestine Diaspora Movement (PDM), the organization he had founded, was "rooted in the principle of liberation, champions the Palestinian right of return..."
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
Also as of April 2025, PDM's class 5 of "Resistance 101: Palestinian resistance for beginners" online course was titled: "Justice will rise, Zionism will fall!"
On October 27, 2022, Mustafa wrote on Facebook: "We will return. We will bring liberation. We will end the [Israeli] colonial rule. We will tear down the [Israeli] apartheid regime. We will lift the siege on Gaza. We will free Palestine."
Israel and Egypt implemented a UN-approved [pp. 39–41] joint blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets. Hamas went around the blockade by smuggling weaponry through tunnels under the Philadelphi corridor separating Gaza from Egypt.
On October 7, 2023, Mustafa wrote on Threads: "Palestinian resistance tear down ‘Israeli Apartheid’ fence at East Gaza boarder [sic]. This is history..."
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
Israel’s security barrier, 97 percent of which is a low chain-link barrier, was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks. The concrete portions of the fence were built in response to Palestinian sniper attacks.
Mustafa's post included a video that showed a bulldozer tearing down a section of the Israel-Gaza border fence, while Hamas terrorists invaded Israel.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.
For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
On October 8, 2023, Mustafa wrote on Instagram: "Palestinian resistance is justified..." and shared a graphic that read: "...Palestinians possess the unyielding right to resist—today tomorrow, and always. This is their land, and they stand unshaken in their fight for it..."
On October 10, 2023, Mustafa wrote on Instagram: "Palestinians don’t need criticism on the intensity of their resistance [sic]...#StopGazaGenocide."
Mustafa's post included a video, in which he said [00:00:25] while addressing celebrities who criticized Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023: "What did you guys think resistance looked like?"
As of April 2025, Palestine Diaspora Movement (PDM), Mustafa's organization, offered "Resistance 101: Palestinian resistance for beginners" online course on its website.
The course invited attendees to "learn the truth behind Palestinian resistance and the significance of martyrdom...If we won’t support our resistance, who will?"
The course's "Lesson 2 - Martyrdom" said: "Martyrdom is a cornerstone of Palestinian resistance...It represents the ultimate act of bravery, honor, and personal sacrifice in the fight for Palestinian liberation, deeply intertwined with Islam."
On October 7, 2023, Mustafa posted on Threads in Arabic and English: "مين صاحب الأرض ومين المحتل؟ [Who owns the land and who is the occupier?] / Israeli colonial settlers rush to the airport fleeing Palestinian liberation resistance."
Mustafa's post included a video showing Israelis running for shelter at the Ben-Gurion international airport during an air raid siren.
One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to claim [00:06:46] that Jews, particularly Ashkenazi Jews, do not descend from the ancient Israelites. This claim alleges that Jews are white Europeans who lack a connection to the Land of Israel.
On December 7, 2023, Mustafa wrote on Facebook: "'Innocent Israelis' again the very presence of illegal Israeli settlers is a crime in itself. They’re not innocent."
The watermelon has been appropriated by anti-Israel activists as a symbol of Palestinian "resistance" to "Israeli occupation," as it shares the Pan-Arab colors. It gained popularity following the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023.
On May 17, 2024, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, Mustafa shared on Instagram a video of him leading an anti-Israel rally.
At the rally, Mustafa spoke [00:00:08] in a megaphone: "Zionists are unhinged in their violence! They will use any means necessary to achieve their ethnostate!"
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
