May 20, 2021 - Spreading Hatred of Israel at a Protest

On May 20, 2021, During Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW), Othman attended a counterprotest against a pro-Israel rally in Times Square.

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

While debating the pro-Israel demonstraters, Othman shouted [00:00:59]: “...the Israeli flag…is “based on genocide...” In another debate, Othman said [00:02:32]: “...that flag is killing my people” referring to the Israeli flag.

Othman also said [00:02:52]: “There is a genocide on Palestine and these are Israeli Zionists who are killing innocent children…And they are celebrating there, dancing with police around them, as usual, because that’s what the US is good at, sucking up to Israelis…”

Othman continued [00:03:10]: [The U.S. gives] “millions to weapons for Israel! Millions! And what do– do you know what Palestinians have? They have rocks, to protect themselves. That's what they have, and all they [Israelis] can speak about is ‘Hamas, Hamas, Hamas.’”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Anti-Semitism

On July 8, 2014, Othman tweeted: “This is why I don't like you Jews.”

Othman also retweeted a January 27, 2020 tweet that said: “Israel is modern day hitler, f**k you and everyone who still is okay with Israels existence till this day. Y’all are nazis, go burn in the deepest of hell…”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Terror Support

Othman retweeted a June 23, 2020 tweet that said: “... His sister was getting married today. He drove to pick up his mother and sisters from the hairdresser. An Israeli soldier shot him at the checkpoint. Just another tragic story coming out of Palestine, where’s the justice? Rest in peace Ahmed Mustafa Arekat,💔#FreePalestine.”

Ahmad Erekat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat; Ahmed Erakat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured. The incident was captured on video.

Hatred of Israel

Othman retweeted a June 5, 2021 tweet that called Israeli actress Gal Gadot a “war criminal.”

Othman retweeted a January 1, 2020 tweet that said: “Why are all israelis so fu**ing ugly…”

In 2019, Othman retweeted multiple tweets that said: “F**k #Israel.”

On November 19, 2014, Othman posted on Twitter: “...What is ‘Israel’??????😞😞😞’ / A 💩stain in Palestine.’ Basically.”

On July 2, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE) against Hamas, Othman posted on Twitter: “... Israel will get their payback...the Quran says we will win in the end..just wait on it..’ ”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

Hamas fired over 4,564 missiles and rockets at Israeli population centers during Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014.

Anti-Israel Activism

On February 14, 2017, Othman appeared in a photo posted to John Jay SJP’s Instagram account participating in the college’s Center for Student Involvement & Leadership (CSIL) Club Fair.

Othman attended a May 15, 2016 rally organized by NY4PALESTINE titled: “COMMEMORATING AL-NAKBA.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
