Micah Herskind
Overview
Micah Herskind [Micah Richard Herskind] has spread hatred of Israel and expressed support for an anti-Israel student government resolution during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists, in March 2024.Herskind is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. While he was a student at Harvard University (Harvard) Law School (HLS), he supported a March 2024 student government resolution that promoted BDS.
Herskind spread hatred of Israel following a series of Hamas atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when he supported the pro-BDS resolution.
As of April 1, 2024, Herskind’s personal website said Herskind was an “organizer, writer and law student.”
As of April 2024, Herskind’s LinkedIn profile said that he was studying for a JD at HLS, slated to graduate in 2026. He graduated from Princeton University (Princeton) with a bachelor’s degree in race and public policy in 2019.
Harvard is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. However, Herskind’s LinkedIn said he was located in Atlanta, Georgia.
As of April 2024, Herskind used the handle “@micahinATL” on Twitter and the username “#StopCopCity

.” Hatred of Israel during a Hamas War
On November 9, 2023, during Israel’s war against Hamas, Herskin wrote a tweet claiming that U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren was a “genocide accomplice.”Herskind signed an October 22, 2023 statement titled: “An open letter from Princeton faculty and students in solidarity with Gaza.” The letter accused Israel of an “ongoing…assault upon the Gaza Strip,” as well as “targeting…civilians” and engaging in “the unchecked collective punishment…against Palestinians.”
On October 18, 2023, Herskind tweeted: “just completely burning away any good will he had on the left to support a genocide.”
Herskind’s tweet was in response to an October 18, 2023 tweet from U.S. Senator John Fetterman that said: “I will always stand with Israel and look forward to supporting any military, intelligence, or humanitarian aid to get the job done.”
On October 17, 2023, Herskind wrote a tweet accusing Israel of “a vicious attack” on a hospital in Gaza.
On October 17, 2023, the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) fired rockets at Israel from Gaza, one of which misfired and fell on the parking lot of the al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital. Initial media reports blamed Israel. Following the incident, U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib immediately accused the Biden administration of funding Israel’s “genocide” of Palestinian people.
Referring to Gaza as an "open-air prison" is a way to delegitimize the United Nations-approved [pp. 39–41] joint Israeli-Egyptian blockade of the Gaza Strip imposed in 2011 to prevent Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.
Supporting an Anti-Israel Resolution
On March 29, 2024, Herskind reportedly expressed support for a student government resolution at HLS that promoted BDS and accused [p. 2] Israel of “ethnic cleansing” and of conducting a “genocidal campaign in Gaza” during its war against Hamas. The resolution called [p. 2] on the Harvard Management Company (HMC) to “divest completely from weapons manufacturers, firms, academic programs, corporations, and all other institutions that aid the ongoing illegal occupation of Palestine and the genocide of Palestinians.”
Herskind reportedly reacted with a clapping hands emoji when one of the anti-Israel activists wrote in a group chat:“...brats are upset they didn’t get their way,” in response to Jewish students “raising concerns” over the student government resolution.
Also on March 29, 2024, Herskind tweeted in support of the resolution: “the H*rvard Law student gov passed a BDS divestment resolution, and a bunch of zionists tried to get it overturned on procedural grounds, forcing a new vote. Two reps who resigned in protest then tried to un-resign to vote against it. BUT IT STILL JUST PASSED AGAIN LOL.”
Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.
On March 31, 2024, Herskind tweeted: “there was a student government zoom meeting only open to law students about the BDS resolution, and some fellow students leaked the zoom chat to a big doxxing account to dox those of us who commented…anyone involved, please feel free to take a nap in a glue trap.”
On the same date, Herskind tweeted: “like no carceral vibes but I can’t wait to get whichever zionist losers who did this expelled.”
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
