May Touma

May Touma [May Michel Touma] expressed support for Hamas terrorists and spread hatred of Israel in art she made at the pro-Hamas encampment at UofT in 2024.

On May 9, 2024, Touma posted on Instagram a video collage from the UofT encampment, where she stood [00:00:03] next to her pro-Hamas art display. At the top of the display was an inverted red triangle, a symbol of support for Hamas.

The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It first appeared in propaganda videos produced by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during its terror attacks of October 7, 2023. The symbol was used by Hamas to signify one of their Israeli targets.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.

In the same post, Touma wrote: “Long live the student intifada. Proud of the generation and their bravery…🔻…DIVEST. DISCLOSE. FREE PALESTINE…🔻🇵🇸…#artistsforpalestine…#resistance…”

The term “intifada” translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection” and carries the connotation of terrorist violence, including suicide bombings, hijackings, shootings and stabbings.

Touma’s video also featured [00:00:31] a photo of an anti-Israel poster that read: “LONG LIVE THE STUDENT INTIFADA. Reject Normalization. Support the Resistance.”

Proponents of the “anti-normalization” policy seek to police all interactions between Israelis and Palestinians and shut down all conversations and interactions perceived as being ideologically unaligned with their own agenda.

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

Also prominently featured in Touma’s art display were a key and a character known as “Handala,” both of which are symbols supporting a policy known as the “right of return.”

The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
