As of May 2025, Marty Alani’s LinkedIn said Alani was pursuing a PhD in biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), slated to graduate in 2028. He was also listed as a PhD candidate at the Whitehead Institute in Cambridge, since 2024.
The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

They blocked Jews from campus facilities and limited access to those with special wristbands or who said they were not a Zionist.
