Overview
Mark Shields has spread anti-Semitism and promoted anti-Jewish and anti-Israel conspiracy theories on Twitter. Shields has also expressed support for the terror group Hamas and demonized Israel on Twitter.Shields has identified as a Hebrew Israelite, also known as the Black Hebrew Israelites, who are groups of Black Americans who believe they are the descendants of the ancient biblical Hebrews.
In March 2020, Shields indicated on Twitter that he worked as a healthcare worker who worked at California Post Acute Care, a certified nursing home facility, where he was "authorized to provide emergency and technical assistance and/or make damage assessments and render patient treatment at the facility."
In August 2019, Shields indicated on Twitter that he worked at a “chicken plant in Mississippi.”
In December 2019, Shields indicated on Twitter that he was located in California.
Anti-Semitism
On February 16, 2020, Shields said [00:08:32] in a video posted on Periscope: “Why they got these goddamn Jews over there? I don’t give a f**k, it’s my scope, I can say what the f**k I wanna say. These fake a** Jews that they give a billion dollars a year to, that actually, I should say… they… They’re giving America an ultimatum.”Shields continued [00:08:51]: “Either you supply me, or we tell the world on how we helped supply the slave trade, on how we made your country the way it is, how we killed hundreds of thousands of African men, women and children to do this.”
On October 10, 2019, Shields tweeted: “Far as Jews are concerned every knowledge came from Kemmet land of the black man the meaning.you stoleinformation you killed whole civilizations to hide it along with your devils the Europeans. Kemet is an ancient name for Egypt.

On December 23, 2019, Shields tweeted: “But the crazy part is every Jew called in sick on the date of 911.” Shields’s tweet referred to a conspiracy theory that 4,000 Jews who worked at the World Trade Center did not come to work on the day of the 9/11 terror attacks, because they had reportedly been warned to stay away by Israeli secret services, which were allegedly responsible for the attack.On October 13, 2019, Shields tweeted: “All news source all newspapers all media and music are owned by the Jews .Do you really think the jews would give us real information. Because the European and the Jews are a made-up people. They steal cultures steal minds of people and kill them. Everything is a illusion..”
On October 8, 2019, Shields tweeted: “Hitler also said that soon as the Africans that was stolen from Africa realize there are gods this system is over .”
Shields’s tweet referred to the claim that Hitler said African Americans were the real Jews, a hoax which was exposed by the fact-checking website, Snopes.com. The site reported that the claim was promoted “in defense of Hitler to bolster the argument that he was actually not racist.”

Demonizing Israel
On October 10, 2019, Shields tweeted: “Well let me be honest Israel is an abomination. Their ethnic cleansing doesn’t start there. They stole a whole concept of A religion and included in their self. You are fake Europeans.”Shields’s tweet featured a graphic posted in 2010 on a since-defunct blog that demonized Israel’s operation Cast Lead, with a caption that read: “THIS IS NOT WAR, THIS IS GENOCIDE.”
Israel commenced Operation Cast Lead (OCL)in 2008-09 in order to stop Hamas rocket fire from Gaza targeting Israeli civilians. In 2010, Hamas admitted that nearly 700 of the Palestinian casualties in OCL were combatants.
