Mansour Shouman
Mansour Shouman is a journalist who called for Israel’s destruction as a speaker at the pro-Hamas encampment at UofT in May 2024. He has also expressed support for Hamas terrorists, denied Hamas war crimes and spread anti-Semitism.
On May 19, 2024, Shouman called [00:05:14] for Israel’s destruction as he spoke at a pro-Hamas encampment at UofT.
During his speech, Shouman referred [00:01:23] to the encampment as a “symbol of resistance.” He later said [00:05:14]: “... and now in 2023-2024, the whole world Inshallah [God willing] is gonna destroy this imperialistic and colonial mindset called Zionism.”
In his YouTube post, Shouman wrote: “I visited the University of Toronto Student Encampment on May 19, 2024. I was moved by the passion and purpose of all the students. They are standing up against genocide and apartheid and asking the world to divest from arming and supporting Israel.”
UofT is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Mansour Shouman Called for Israel’s Destruction as a Speaker at the Pro-Hamas Encampment at the University of Toronto (UofT)

On May 2, 2024, activists from the UofT Occupy for Palestine (Occupy UofT) group “stormed down” [00:00:24] the fencing around UofT’s Kings College Circle and set up a pro-Hamas encampment, which they called the “People’s Circle for Palestine.”
That day, Occupy UofT called on “community members to…help us defend our encampment” at an emergency rally in the evening. Protesters chanted [00:02:59] for “intifada” and celebrated “resistance” [00:02:45]. Both terms are calls for terrorism. The activists also chanted [00:01:28; 00:02:21] for Israel’s destruction multiple times.
One speaker, Nabil Jalbout, said [00:09:02]: “...we are not fighting for peace, we are fighting for liberation, because ‘peace’ is a white man's word.” Another speaker, Ahmad Jarrar Hajahmad, claimed [00:05:52]: “All these Israeli and Zionist entities fill all these politicians with money in their pockets…we already know who runs this system…”
Signs displayed at the encampment said: “LONG LIVE THE INTIFADA” and “LIBERATION FOR ALL REQUIRES RESISTANCE FROM ALL.”
On May 4, 2024, anti-Israel protesters at the encampment assaulted a Jewish man, punching him in the stomach as they forcibly took his Israeli flag. The attackers told the man [00:01:02]: “God bless the armed resistance,” and: “Go back to Europe!” They also reportedly called him “a “dirty Jew.”
Protesters “occupied” [00:00:17] the area from May to July 2024, despite UofT’s warning they were trespassing. The group said they would not leave until UofT divested from companies that “sustain Israeli apartheid, occupation and illegal settlement of Palestine” and terminated partnerships with Israeli academic institutions.
Following the October 7, 2023 massacre of nearly 1,200 Israelis, the inverted red triangle - 🔻- became a Hamas symbol. This symbol appeared on large signs at the encampment multiple times. Erin Mackey, one of the primary organizers, is openly pro-Hamas, having used the symbol in her activism. In addition, pro-Hamas marches that began in other parts of the city concluded at the encampment.
On July 3, 2024, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued an injunction at the request of UofT’s Governing Council, requiring students to clear the encampment. Occupy UofT dismantled the encampment and wrote [slides 5-6]: “We are just getting started…come fall, every incoming student will hear our message loud and clear…Whatever institution you have access to and influence over - you need to take this campaign there!” The statement concluded: “Long live the intifada.”
The encampment was one of over 140 pro-Hamas and anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America, and over 20 more globally, in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. The encampments were unofficially known as the “student intifada,” borrowing a term associated with terrorist violence.
Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and shouted anti-Semitic slogans. They occupied campus grounds, in many cases illegally, caused property damage, violently took over buildings, celebrated terrorism and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Activists set up encampments to oppose Israel’s right to wage war against the Hamas terror group following October 7, 2023, when Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 people, including 32 American and 8 Canadian citizens. Hamas also kidnapped 252 people, including 11 Americans and the bodies of 2 murdered Canadians. As of May 26, 2024, 125 hostages remained in Hamas captivity.

On August 6, 2024, during Israel’s war against Hamas, Shouman was listed as a collaborator on an Instagram post honoring Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as the “newly elected leader of the Resistance Movement.” The post included an interview Sinwar gave years earlier with a Hamas logo in the background.
Yahya (Yehiya) Sinwar masterminded the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel and had been a Hamas leader since the 1980s. Sinwar was nicknamed the “Butcher of Khan Younis” after he admitted to killing 12 suspected Palestinian “collaborators,” and in 1989 was sentenced to four life terms in Israeli prison for crimes including the killing of two Israeli soldiers.
In 2011, Sinwar was released by Israel to Gaza following the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal and resumed his leadership role in Hamas. On October 17, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces eliminated Sinwar in Gaza.
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” is a euphemism for nationalistic terror and is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
The post that Shouman shared said: “...Following the peaceful 2018 Great March of Return in Gaza…Yahya Sinwar gave this interview…He is the newly elected leader of the Resistance Movement.”
In May 2018, terror organization Hamas instigated the “March of Return.” Thousands of violent rioters attempted numerous breaches of Israel’s border fence with Gaza, seeking to harm Jews across the border. Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of the fence, some by armed Palestinians. On May 15, 2018, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar admitted the Gaza protests were only a pretext of “peaceful resistance.”
On July 25, 2024, Shouman posted on Instagram a video, in which he commented on Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before a joint session of the U.S. Congress.
In his video, Shouman denied [00:00:56] that Hamas terrorists “killed over 1200 Israelis” on October 7, 2023.
Denial of the Hamas war crimes of October 7, 2023, among anti-Israel activists has been likened to Holocaust denial among neo-Nazis.
On August 1, 2024, Shouman shared on Instagram a post that referred to Netanyahu as “Adolf Netanyahu,” comparing him with the dictator of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler.
The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
On March 30, 2024, Shouman spoke at the “London National Protest for Palestine” in London, England.
During his speech to the protesters, Shouman used a euphemism for Israel, saying [00:01:41] “...with people like you, the Zionist state project will go away Inshallah in 2023 and 2024.”
Mansour Shouman is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Shouman has contributed to various media outlets, including Al Jazeera English, since at least October 2023.
As of August 2024, Shouman’s LinkedIn profile said he had worked as the director for Clearoute in Doha, Qatar since June 2024, and as a self-employed remote journalist reporting on Gaza since October 2023.
Also as of August 2024, Shouman’s Facebook said he had been the director of Middle East and Africa at Humaniti since May 2024.
As of August 2024, Shouman’s LinkedIn said he served as the volunteer “Director, Youth & Communications” for the Muslim Council of Calgary, since January 2016.
As of August 2024, Shouman’s LinkedIn said he had graduated from the Haskayne School of Business, part of the University of Calgary (UCalgary), with a master’s degree in logistics, material and supply chain management in 2017. UCalgary is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Shouman’s LinkedIn also said he was located in the Doha Metropolitan Area, Qatar.
