Mocking Anti-Semitic Violence

On December 29, 2021, Manning tweeted in response to a New York Post tweet about an attack perpetrated upon two Jewish college students: “awe the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] didn’t protect you in Brooklyn?🙄

On December 26, 2021, two Jewish college students, Blake Zavadsky and Ilan Kaganovich, were reportedly assaulted by two men outside a Foot Locker in Brooklyn, New York. Zavadsky, who was wearing an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) sweatshirt, waspunched in the face by one of the assailants, who called Zavadsky and Kaganovich “dirty Jews.”

On January 1, 2022, Manning tweeted: “his rights to wear settler apartheid military propaganda? Lmao [laughing my a** off] he’s wearing an Israeli Defense Forces shirt, but can’t even defend himself.”

Manning’s tweet was in response to a tweet that said: “He was literally beaten up for wearing a hoodie, this violates his literal rights and is f**king disgusting.”

Supporting Hamas

On May 29, 2021, Manning tweeted: “Your opinion about Hamas does not matter. Hamas is a democratically elected resistance and defense against military occupation and apartheid… ”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

On May 28, 2021, following Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW) against terrorist factions in Gaza, Manning tweeted: “Hamas is a democratically elected resistance and defense against military occupation and apartheid and Zionists will call Palestinians violent regardless of its existence, pass it on.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

Violent Hatred of Israel

On October 18, 2021, Manning tweeted: “lmao [laughing my a** off] get f**ked by a rock loser.” Manning’s tweet included a graphic of a rock in a cocked slingshot.

Manning’s tweet was in response to an IDF tweet with a graphic that said: “Rock throwing has resulted in the deaths of many IDF soldiers and civilians.”

Although romanticized as a form of “popular resistance,” rock throwing remains a deadly form of violence

On June 2, 2021, Manning tweeted to Jeremy Ben-Ami, the president of J Street, a photo of a cake, with the words “I hope you get choked this year!” written on it.

Manning was responding to a tweet by Ben Ami that praised Israeli politicians “who put aside differences” to form a unity government. Manning wrote in the same tweet with the image of the cake: “no. a settler colony is a settler colony.”

On May 20, 2021, during OGW, Manning tweeted: “peace will come when the genocidal apartheid state of israel is eradicated and extinct.”

Manning’s tweet was in response to a May 19, 2021 tweet that said: “‘Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.’ - Golda Meir.”

On May 17, 2021, Manning tweeted: “tearing down Israel and all colonial forces will be a collective responsibility. hopefully we live to see it.”

Hatred of Zionists

On October 28, 2021, Manning tweeted: “Speaking as an Indigenous North American, it’s revolting having Z-words [Zionists] try to use Indigenous dialogue and rhetoric not understanding Indigenous dialogue stands antithetical to the violent settler-state of Israel. As if they can just ‘manifest’ Indigeneity for themselves.”

One way anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is by denying [00:17:45] Jewish history, with the aim of delegitimizing restored Jewish sovereignty, attacking Israel’s legitimacy and portraying Jews as foreign to the Land of Israel.

In a response to his tweet, Manning added: “Zionists are all ‘connection to land’ and ‘self-determination’ until Israel burns hundreds of acres of centuries-old Olive trees and uses their military to silence Palestinians. You can’t co-opt Indigenous rhetoric and be a boot-licking lily-white shill for a settler state.”

On July 13, 2021, Manning tweeted: “zionists deserve to get bullied more.”

On June 5, 2021, Manning tweeted: “the only place zionists are indigenous to is hell, reclaim that land♥️.”

On May 31, 2021, Manning tweeted: “‘where the israelis supposed to go?’ you’re settlers, settle in Europe lol.”

One way that anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is to claim [00:06:46] that Israeli Jews, particularly Ashkenazi Jews, do not descend from the ancient Israelites. This claim alleges that Israeli Jews are white Europeans who lack a connection to the Land of Israel.

On May 30, 2021, Manning responded to a tweet from pro-Israel advoate, Shoshanna Keats Jaskoll, that said: “ZioNazi. Baby Killer. NaziB**ch. Occupier. Ethnic Cleaner. Genocider. Zionist Scum / These are just some of the names I’ve been called on Twitter over the past few weeks. With only 14M Jews in the world we won't win the Instafada but we will win the war.”

Manning tweeted in response: “✍🏻Zionazi, Zionist scum, Occupier✍🏻any others i should call zionists?”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On May 28, 2021, Manning tweeted: “‘white women try to absolve their war crimes through their femininity.’ zionists are a pathetic bunch.”

On May 22, 2021, Manning tweeted a video from a violent Within Our Lifetime (WOL) rally where two Israeli Jews, Snir Dayan and Amit Skornik, were attacked by a mob of anti-Israel protesters, including WOL activists Saadah Masoud and Salem Seleiman.

In the tweet, Manning wrote: “israeli flag holder threw the first punch. of course zionists would be the greatest at playing victims, the apartheid state they support has been doing it for seventy years.”

On May 15, 2021, Manning tweeted at pro-Israel activist Hen Mazzig: “israeli f*gs really believe that they can’t be white supremacists.”

On May 13, 2021, Manning tweeted: “the only acceptable bullying is bullying zionists, politicians, and also normal folks to speak out for Palestine. #freepalastine 🇵🇸

Demonizing Israel

On November 10, 2021, Manning tweeted: “They flee like cowards. That’s all the Israeli state will come to represent in history books. Colonial occupation and cowardice.”

On September 6, 2021, Manning tweeted: “The only way Indigenous people should look at Israel is just the same as any settler colony, with disgust.”

On May 13, 2021, during OGW, Manning tweeted: “lmao i keep on seeing videos of idf soldiers crying and s**t save those tears in this glass and gtfo [get the f**k out] occupier.” The tweet included a photo of a woman holding a glass with the words “Warcriminal Tears” written over it.

On May 10, 2021, during a global COVID-19 epidemic, Manning tweeted: “Your zionist state is actively refusing to vaccinate Palestinians during a global pandemic as a purposeful tool of removal and death. Go rot.”

All Israel's citizens, including Arabs, were provided equal and free access to a coronavirus vaccine.

Under the Oslo Accords [p. 5], the Palestinian Authority (PA) is responsible for providing health services to Palestinians under its jurisdiction. In December 2020, PA officials reportedly contacted Israel’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) department to request the vaccine, which Israel agreed to provide.
