Lisa Marie Mendez

Overview

Lisa Marie Mendez [Ella Draven] was condemned by officials at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for expressing violent hatred of Jews. She also expressed violent hatred of Zionists on social media.

As of October 2019, Mendez’s LinkedIn page said she was a student at UCLA from 2014 to 2017. Mendez indicated on Twitter that she received a bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA, in 2017.

Mendez was reportedly a healthcare administrator for UCLA Center for Prehospital Care (CPC) in 2015. She indicated on Facebook that she began employment at CPC in October 2015.

As of October 2019, Mendez used the alias “Ella Draven” on Facebook and on her LinkedIn page and on Instagram. 

Violent Hatred of Jews

In December 2015, Mendez posted explicit anti-Semitic comments on the Facebook page of Jewish actress Mayim Bialik, a UCLA alumna and on the Facebook page of Students Supporting Israel at UCLA (SSI at UCLA). Her comments were condemned by University officials.

Mendez reportedly commented on a December 8, 2015 Facebook post that Bialik wrote, which said: “... I am a Zionist (as if that's a crime!!)...Zionism is the belief that Jewish people deserve an autonomous homeland free from terrorism and threat to our global existence.”

Mendez’s comment reportedly said: “YOU people invades our space and used your bogus gods to justify taking land that was never yours. I don't know how that's different from what's happening in Palestine -- you come into their land, crying persecution and diminished numbers...”

Mendez’s post reportedly continued: “...instead of returning to your own homes in Poland, Germany and Russia, your people chose to invade another culture's homeland, invoking your bulls**t sacred pacts with your gods and massacring an entire culture unless they bend to your will.”

Mendez reportedly also said: “F**king Jews. GTFOH [Get The F**k Out of Here] with all your Zionist bulls**t. Crazy a** f**king troglodyte albino monsters of cultural destruction. F**king Jews. GTFOH with your whiny bulls**t.” 

She also reportedly added: “Give the Palestinians back their land, go back to Poland or whatever freezer-state you're from, and realize that faith does not constitute race.”

Mendez then reportedly wrote on the SSI at UCLA Facebook page: “You're [Jews] the foreigners, locusts who steal resources and oppress people...The United States and the UN facilitated you taking this land from the Palestinians...”

She reportedly continued: “Greedy lifeless pieces of s**t people. Capitalist colonizers who steal and kill from other races to promote your dead ideologies.”

Later, Mendez posted on Facebook: “You people [Jews] are quite funny. Specimens of a sheep culture.” 

On December 13, 2015, Mendez posted on Facebook: “The Jews... white Devils hidden behind a symbol of your faith, whose only desire is capitalization...ITS YOU [Jews] DAMN STUPID F**KING BORED A** SHEEP-PEOPE [sic] that kept this going on and on... And to no avail. You know who cares if I told you people I hate your greedy a**es? NOBODY. At least, nobody that matters…”

Her December 13, 2015, Facebook post continued: “You Jews have the fattest wallets, and they just want you to be still and continue spending your money with them.”

Mendez’s Facebook comments were condemned by UCLA Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Janina Montero, in a letter shared to Facebook by SSI at UCLA on December 16, 2015. The letter was addressed to “the Student Community.

The letter said: “The hurtful and offensive comments displayed ignorance of the history and racial diversity of the Jewish people, insensitivity and a disappointing lack of empathy. Bigotry against the Jewish people or other groups is abhorrent and does not represent the values of UCLA or the beliefs of our community.”

SSI at UCLA’s Facebook post also called on Mendez’s employer, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA/UCLA Health: “to publicly condemn the Mendez rant and remove themselves from any association with her sentiments.”

Kelsey C. Martin, the Interim Dean of the School of Medicine at UCLA, also condemned Mendez’s posts, calling them “reprehensible” and said: “The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the UCLA Health System fully concur and support the outrage and concern..”

Martin also said Mendez’s comments “absolutely does not represent the values of the David Geffen School of Medicine” and noted they display “insensitivity and ignorance of the history and racial diversity of the Jewish people.”

Martin’s condemnation was shared to Facebook on December 18, 2015, by SSI at UCLA.

UCLA spokesperson Ricardo Vazquez, reportedly said that no disciplinary action would be taken against Mendez due to the protection of private speech under the First Amendment.

Violent Hatred of Zionists

On December 11, 2015, Mendez wrote on Facebook: “I wish there could be a public shaming of Zionists...Since the Church didn't allow for participation in usury, they employed the Jews to do that work.”

On the same day, Mendez also wrote on Facebook that Jews “own the entertainment industry” and “…kiss my ass you Zionist bastards-- I hope you all burn in hell on earth for the crimes committed by your people…”  

On December 9, 2015, Mendez reportedly wrote on Facebook: “Go back to Israel, then, f**kin Zionist pigs. You don’t belong here either, this land belongs to the indigenous people who were already here...go Murder some Palestinian children so you can have their parents arrested and move into their home.”
