Laila Hussein

Overview

Laila Hussein has spread anti-Semitism and demonized Israel on Twitter. She has also supported the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

In March 2018, Hussein’s LinkedIn page said she worked as a “Personal Marketing Assistant” at MetLife in Elmsford, NY since June 2012 and was applying for her securities license with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Her LinkedIn also said she graduated from Baruch College (Baruch), part of the City University of New York (CUNY), where she was a “member” of the Muslim Student Association (MSA), with a bachelor’s degree in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

As of January 2019, Hussain was listed on Broker Check as a Broker working with Ameriprise Financial Services, INC since November 11, 2018.

In November, July, May and April 2018, Hussein indicated on Twitter that she was located in Florida.

Anti-Semitism

On October 16, 2018, Hussein tweeted: “Comical. The uncultured swine claiming all things Palestinian per usual. Pathetic fraudulent a**es.”

The tweet was in response to a tweet about an Israeli fashion model, that read: “‘When photos are the perfect metaphor for Israel. They stole Palestinian clothing and slapped the irrelevant name ‘Israel’ on it, just like they stole our country and slapped that irrelevant name on it. they literally have NOTHING cultural to showcase.’Via Susan Abulhawa.”

On August 2, 2014, Hussein tweeted during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE): “I've never thought in my life a certain ppl would be so cowardly & evil enough to constantly just steal, kill, and lie all about it #Israel.”

Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On August 30, 2012, Hussein tweeted: “Romney irks the hell outta me. He also looks like a Jew lover #nofilter.”

On June 22, 2012, Hussein tweeted: “Just watched the last 1/2 of United 93 for the 1st time.. Looks like a crock of s**t to me especially when all the movie directors are Jews.”

On June 18, 2012, Hussein tweeted: “All these yahood [Jews] up in here -_- god.”

On April 15, 2012, Hussein tweeted: “Effing yahood [Jews] everywhere in the mall -_-.”

On December 7, 2011, Hussein tweeted: “Always the Jews who rape -_- disgusting... ‘@AJEnglish: Former Israeli president goes to prison http://aje.me/vPxe5f.‘”

On March 17, 2011, Hussein tweeted: “You know what pisses me off? Jews who talk mad s**t n a fb page they created to go against the Palestinian intifada bc they're racist f**ks.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

Hussein retweeted a tweet from October 9, 2018, that read: “ISRAEL IS ATTACKING PALESTINIAN CHILDREN WITH CHEMICAL BOMBINGS...” The phrase was repeated in the tweet four times.

Hussein retweeted a tweet from August 17, 2018 that read: “Palestinian women are murdered, forced to give birth at checkpoints, and sexually harassed by Israeli soldiers on a daily basis but obviously you fail to mention that.”

Hussein retweeted a tweet from July 24, 2018, that read: “Palestinian kids are being slaughtered every day by israeli forces. F**k you and your little chess game.”

The tweet was in response to a tweet that read: “This is 7-year-old chess champ Liel Levitan. She has won the European chess

champioship for kids last week but she can’t compete in the world chess championship that will be held in Tunisia. Why? She’s Israeli. The Arab countries' racism towards Israel in sports must stop.”

On September 16, 2015, Hussein tweeted: “Why are all these republicans sucking Israel so hard??? You don't have my vote bums”
On July 20, 2014, Hussein tweeted: “How tedious it is to hear #israel still playing the victim in the situation. Nazi Germany is over. #QuitPlayingTheVictim #QuitGazaHolocaust”

On July 20, 2014, Hussein tweeted: “How devastating and sickening it is that the Palestinians are being brutally murdered during the holy month of Ramadan. Israel is truly evil”

On July 22, 2012, Hussein tweeted: “Watching a documentary on the abuse and humiliation of Palestinian workers by Israelis with my parents #deathtoisrael.”

Supporting BDS

On August 7, 2015, Hussein tweeted: “I swear ever since I stopped shopping at VS (Victoria’s Secret) due to their support of Israel I've been bombarded by their emails #IWontBudgeTho.”

On August 8, 2014, Hussein tweeted: “Oh great just found out one my of favorite stores supports Israel... No more Victoria's Secret 😒 #YouSupportMurder.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.

MSA

The MSA was established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.
