Justifying Hamas Terrorism
On October 7, 2023, Khan tweeted: “This reminds me of when abusers provoke their victim over & over again in domestic violence cases, and then when the victim finally fights back & says enough is enough, they’re labeled as the abusive one. / This is manipulation & psychological abuse. #Palestine is the victim here.”On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas raped women next to the bodies of dead friends. Some were raped and then shot in the head. Others, including young girls, were raped and murdered or mutilated in other ways.
On October 8, 2023, Khan tweeted: “Let’s talk about #IsraelPalestineWar like we talk about domestic violence, shall we? Bc it’s all the same: power & control - an oppressed & an oppressor. / abuser (A) takes victim’s (V) phone from Vs hand. Can V resist? Does everyone not have a right to #resist being overpowered.”
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti- Semitic violence.
Khan retweeted an October 8, 2023 tweet that said: “Much of what’s happening in occupied Palestine will be in future history books as an example of revolutionary struggle. Waiting until the history books tell you what to celebrate is easy. It’s much harder to stand on the right side of history as it unfolds in real time.”
On October 29, 2023, Khan shared on her Instagram Stories Highlights titled: “PS” a post that said [slide 6]: “Stop calling it a war. Gaza is not a state. Gaza is colonised territory, under siege by a nuclear power. Hamas is not an army. Hamas is a resistance movement. Colonised people have the right to armed resistance under international law. Call it what it is: Israel waging genocide.

On July 19, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE) against Hamas, Khan tweeted: “History repeats itself in mysterious ways. #Holocaust #GazaUnderAttack Condemning both b/c genocide is genocide.”
Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
Helping Promote Hatred of Israeli Jews Kidnapped by Hamas
On November 7, 2023, Khan was filmed [00:00:01] joining someone who was ripping down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists one month earlier.Hatred of Israel
On July 17, 2014, Khan tweeted: “Zionist leaders are to Jewish what the Taliban are to us...”Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.
...IS NOT ANTI SEMITISM…”
The modern State of Israel was founded 75 years earlier, in 1948.
On October 28, 2023, Khan shared [slide 40] on her Instagram Stories Highlights titled: “
” a video of anti-Israel activists in a protest in Chicago chanting: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!” “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
