Katya Castell

Overview

Katya Castell is a mental health professional who spread anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel in late 2023 and early 2024.

Castell posted her remarks on Instagram in the wake of Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.

The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Castell wrote her posts.

Anti-Semitism and Hatred of Israel during a Hamas War

On February 6, 2024, Castell posted an image on Instagram titled: “Ideologies.” The text said: “Anti-Semitism: ‘Ideology that is implied to keep the Palestinian in subjugation and to keep the world silent about what is happening to Palestinians.’”

The image text continued: “Terrorism: ‘Who creates the definition of terrorism? - Usually its [sic] colonial regimes that call any opposition against them as terrorism but the violence of colonial regimes is not called terrorism.’”

On November 5, 2023, Castell wrote on Instagram: “...The name ‘Jerusalem’ is a made-up name. The real name is Al-Quds. They colonize names, they colonize everything. ps #freepalestine.”


On November 24, 2023, Castell posted a photo on Instagram with text over it that said: “When Western media publishes news about Israeli HOSTAGES being released they call them ‘CIVILIANS.’ But, when they publish news about Palestinian ‘PRISONERS’ being released there is no mention of them being civilians.”

Castell wrote in the post: “LANGUAGE CREATES REALITY. They will always try to control your reality, don’t let them. #freepalestine .”

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.

Biographical Information

On December 12, 2023, Castell referred to herself on Instagram as a licensed mental health counselor and listed her New York State license number as #014106.

As of March 5, 2024, Castell’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile said she had been working at Discovery Mental Health Counseling, PLLC, since January 2020. Since October 2023, her positions at the company were mental health counselor and “Immigration Program Supervisor.”

As of the same date, Castell’s LinkedIn said she graduated from John Jay College (John Jay) with a master’s degree in forensic mental health counseling in December 2019, and from CETYS Universidad (CETYS) with a bachelor’s degree in child psychology in 2015.

John Jay is located in New York, New York, and CETYS is located in Mexicali, Mexico.

Also as of March 5, 2024, Castell’s LinkedIn said she was located in Brooklyn, New York.

As of March 20, 2024, Castell, who also goes by Katya Vanesa Castell, used the handle “@forensic.therapist” on Instagram. Her Instagram bio said: “...This is a Pro-Palestine space.”
