Kate Sim
Overview
Kate Sim [Kate J. Sim] glorified Hamas terrorism, called for Israel’s destruction and spread hatred of Israel and America. She organized a disruption at a Google office in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.Sim’s activism was in the wake of Hamas terrorist war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
As of June 2024, Sim was listed as an “Organizer” for Tech Workers Coalition (TWC) when she led a training event for 7amleh - The Arab Center for Social Media Advancement (7amleh), an Israel-based group that runs [p. 46] BDS campaigns. Since 2021, 7amleh has worked with groups designated as terror organizations by Israel.
Sim organized an April 2024 disruption inside Google’s Sunnyvale, California offices, as a company employee, to demand Google end its Project Nimbus contract with Israel. Sim was reportedly “one of the core organisers of the Google Worker Sit-In Against Project Nimbus,” planned and promoted by No Tech for Apartheid. The disruption was one of several coordinated incidents at other Google offices on April 16, 2024.
As of April 18, 2024, Sim’s employment with Google had been terminated for reportedly “physically impeding other employees’ work and preventing them from accessing” work facilities.
As of May 2024, Sim’s LinkedIn said she had worked as a “Policy Strategist, Child Safety” at Google in the San Francisco Bay Area from August 2021 to April 2024.
As of the same date, Sim’s LinkedIn said she was an “Independent researcher.”
Sim’s LinkedIn said she received a PhD in information, communication and the social sciences from the University of Oxford (Oxford) in 2016, the same year she completed her master’s degree from Oxford in social science of the internet. However, Sim submitted the thesis for her doctorate in May 2021.

Glorifying Hamas Terrorists
Sim retweeted a May 1, 2024 tweet of a poster showing several inverted red triangles, a symbol glorifying the Hamas terrorism of October 7, 2023. The poster also featured a rifle and crosshairs. The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It first appeared in propaganda videos produced by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during its terror attacks of October 7, 2023. The symbol was used by Hamas to signify one of their Israeli targets.
The poster Sim retweeted was produced by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror group, which participated in the atrocities of October 7, 2023. The poster Sim retweeted featured the caption: “WORKERS AND FREE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD..UNITE AGAINST ENEMIES OF HUMANITY.”The tweet’s text said: “The PFLP really knows how to make a May Day poster

.”Calling for Israel’s Destruction
On October 15, 2023, just eight days after Hamas murdered 1,200 Israelis, Sim tweeted: “Nearly 9K at the Bay area solidarity protest! / From the river to the sea, / Palestine will be free.” Her tweet’s photo showed protesters wearing keffiyehs and waving Palestinian flags.“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.
Hatred of Israel and America
On October 18, 2023, Sim tweeted: “someone throw a shoe at him” in response to U.S. president Joe Biden’s tweet that said: “I have come to Israel with a simple message: You are not alone. As long as the United States stands – and we will stand forever – you will not be alone.”On October 18, 2023, Sim tweeted in opposition to a tweet that said: “...anti-Israel rhetoric can & at times does tip into inflaming anti-Jewish attitudes & can lead to anti-Jewish violence…”
Sim wrote in response: “Good job learning about modal verbs, but that is not how you use them. Now go learn about causation.”
On October 24, 2023, Sim tweeted: “America is already leading the change by funding the military technology that is responsible for the current genocide of Palestine. Call a ceasefire NOW, you already have enough blood on your hands / NoTech4Apartheid #NoTech4Genocide.”
Sim’s tweet was in response to a tweet from President Biden that said: “There’s going to be more technological change in the next 10 years– or even the next five years– than in the last 50. /And I want America to lead that change.”
On November 17, 2023, Sim tweeted in opposition to a tweet about Israeli women raped by terrorists on October 7, 2023. The tweet said: “Believe women, unless they’re Israeli. @UN_Women / #BelieveIsraeliWomen #NoExcuses #MeToo_UNless_UR_a_Jew.”
Sim tweeted in response: “girlboss your way to genocide, this is ‘‘‘feminist’’’ imperialism at its finest.”
On October 7, 2023, Hamas raped women next to the bodies of dead friends. Some were raped and then shot in the head. Others, including young girls, were raped and murdered or mutilated in other ways.
On January 31, 2024, Sim tweeted: “go do your job for once and resume funding the UNRWA.” Less than a week earlier, the U.S. paused funding for UNRWA “citing allegations that…UNRWA employees were involved in the October 7, 2023, attacks led by Hamas…against Israel.”
The United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) has hired Hamas members as teachers in its schools and provided arms to the terror group. Dozens of UNRWA staff participated in the October 7, 2023, Hamas terror attack on Israel, and many kept hostages for Hamas in their homes.
Sim retweeted a May 7, 2024 tweet that included an image titled: “Common Symbols of Terrorist Sympathizers.” Among these symbols were the Israeli and the American flags.
April 16, 2024 - Organizing an Anti-Israel Disruption
On April 16, 2024, Sim organized and participated in a sit-in protest and disruption inside a Google office in Sunnyvale, California, as a company employee. The protest reportedly demanded Google end its cloud-computing contract, Project Nimbus, with the Israeli government. On April 16, 2024, Sim tweeted: “HAPPENING NOW / I am with my google coworkers to say DROP PROJECT NIMBUS @NoTechApartheid… / Not another nickel, not another dime, not another tech for genocide. We will not stand by as our work aids and abets the apartheid.”
The protest was organized [00:00:06] by No Tech For Apartheid, a group of tech workers who demanded Amazon and Google end their contracts with Israel.
In October 2021, anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) partnered with MPower Change to launch a BDS campaign titled: “No Tech For Apartheid.” The campaign called on Google and Amazon executives to revoke a contract to provide Israel with cloud technology and to “end all ties with Israeli apartheid.” The campaign was endorsed by a coalition of over 50 North American anti-Israel organizations.
During the protest, Google employees occupied the office of the Google Cloud CEO.
Sim reportedly sent an email to “Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, and thousands of other teams, executives, and employees” that said she was “joining her coworkers in ‘an act of civil resistance.’”
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
Protesters wore black T-shirts with printed text on the back in white letters that said: “GOOGLE WORKERS SAY: DROP PROJECT NIMBUS.” The front of the shirt said: “GOOGLERS AGAINST Genocide” and “NO TECH FOR APARTHEID.”
Protesters outside the office building held a banner that read [00:00:02]: “Google STOP FUELING GENOCIDE.” Protesters chanted [00:00:07]: “Not another push, not another line! No more tech for genocide!”
On April 18, 2024, Sim tweeted that Google had fired her from her job at the company.
On April 29, 2024, Sim co-authored an article published in The Nation titled: “Google Fired Us For Protesting Its Complicity in the War on Gaza. But We Won’t Be Silenced.”
The authors wrote: “We have been demanding that Google cut its ties to Israel’s apartheid government for years…” They further claimed: “The contract provides cloud computing and AI technology for Israel’s apartheid state, contributing to state violence and now to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.”
Also on April 29, 2024, Sim tweeted: “With fellow retaliated googlers, proud to reaffirm why we decided to take action for @NoTechApartheid. / ‘AI is today’s WMD, and Google is a willing war profiteer’ / We believe that workers have a pivotal role to play in disrupting tech’s complicity
.”On May 23, 2024, in a “Computer Says Maybe” podcast, Sim was identified as “one of the core organisers of the Google Worker Sit-In Against Project Nimbus.” Sim said [00:13:01] she has been an activist with No Tech For Apartheid since March 2023, when she attended a Google IO event and learned about Project Nimbus.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
