Karla Vinueza
Overview
Karla Vinueza ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in late 2023. Vinueza also spread hatred of Israel and called for Israel’s destruction during its war against Hamas in early 2024.Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women, children and the elderly, during a series of terror atrocities and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Hamas executed the terror attacks on October 7, 2023. Their other war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
Vinueza has also promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of January 2024, Vinueza was described online as a “musician and audio-visual artist” and as a “second-year grad student at NYU-ITP [New York University-Interactive Telecommunications Program].” In October 2022, Vinueza shared [slide 3] on Vinueza’s Instagram Stories a picture of Vinueza at NYU Tisch School of Arts.
As of January 25, 2024, Vinueza was reportedly “found responsible” for “vandalising university property or the property of others” following NYU’s investigation into the poster-ripping incident. The investigation also found Vinueza had violated NYU’s “Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy for Students or for Employees.”
As of the same date, Vinueza was reportedly placed on university disciplinary probation until the completion of Vinueza’s degree. Vinueza was also barred from participating in the graduation ceremony and not allowed anywhere on campus, except for the building that hosts Vinueza’s graduate program.
As of January 2024, Vinueza participated as a DJ in the show Basement Tapes.
In 2023, Vinueza worked [slide 2] multiple times [slide 2] as a DJ in New York City under the name “DJ LITA.”

Ripping Down Posters of Israelis Kidnapped by Hamas
On November 11, 2023, Vinueza was filmed [00:00:29] in New York City ripping down posters of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. As someone else was being filmed ripping down the posters, Vinueza joined the other person in tearing them down.
Hamas intentionally targeted youth centers and elementary schools to execute and kidnap children. They also took stimulant drugs to give added energy to murder and maim. Nazis also took drugs during World War II to fuel their anti-Semitic massacres.
Hatred of Israel and Calling for Israel’s Destruction
On January 21, 2024, Vinueza posted on Instagram: “...I want to make this very clear: Anti-zionism is not anti-semitism. Criticizing the state of Israel is not anti-semitism. Chanting ‘from the river, to the sea’ is not anti-semitism. Ripping down a poster from a pole is not anti-semitism. Wanting to end the occupation, settler-colonialism, and Israel’s genocide is not anti-semitism. It’s dangerous and violent to conflate being in differing opinions as harmful or anti-semitic…”Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
