Jonni Martinez

Overview

Jonni Martinez has equated Israel with Nazi Germany and expressed hatred of Zionists and Israel.

As of May 2023, Martinez’s LinkedIn profile said he had been the “Social Media Manager” at Jonni Martinez Entertainment in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, since 2012.

As of the same date, Martinez’s Twitter and Instagram said he was a DJ.

As of May 2023, Martinez’s LinkedIn said he received a “Social Media Marketing Certificate” from the George Brown College Continuing Education in 2016. He also studied “Entertainment Business Management, Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management” at the “International Academy of Design & Technology / Toronto Film School” from 2006 to 2007.

As of the same date, Martinez’s Instagram said he was located in Toronto, Ontario.

Equating Israel with Nazi Germany

On April 15, 2023, Martinez tweeted: “...#Israel is controlled by Zionist Nazis that attack both Christian and Palestinian people.” His tweet included a video that claimed “Israeli occupation forces” were preventing Christian worshippers from praying and entering the Church of the Resurrection [Church of the Holy Sepulchre] in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In reality, a Greek Orthodox church architect had requested that Israeli police limit the number of worshippers for safety reasons.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

On January 25, 2023, Martinez tweeted about a Nazi flag displayed in the Palestinian town of Beit Ummar: “That’s actually… a Nazi flag which the Zionists love 🤷‍♂️

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

On January 30, 2023, Martinez tweeted: “Sorry I don’t debate with piece of 💩 zionists … and yes Zionists are racists and Nazis .. have a great night 😉

On May 13, 2022, Martinez tweeted: “... Zionists are not Jews. They are Nazis looking to build one nation of Israel and the repress, kill or make Palestinian people slaves.”

On August 5, 2014, Martinez tweeted: “GERMANY 1940 ISRAEL 2014.” He wrote the tweet during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE) against Hamas.

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

Hatred of Zionists and Israel

On April 17, 2023, Martinez tweeted: “Any candidate for mayor of Toronto that decides to attack a Palestinian protest because of 1-2 bad apples is unfit to be mayor of this multicultural city. / Show some respect and understanding before judging.”

Martinez’s tweet referred to another tweet featuring a video of activists at an “Al Quds Day” march in Toronto chanting “viva viva intifada” and “there is only one solution, intifada revolution.” The tweet included a photo of a sign that said: “WHEN INJUSTICE BECOMES LAW RESISTANCE BECOMES DUTY” with symbols equating the Star of David with a swastika.

The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.

The Iranian government initiated International Quds Day in 1979, as an annual protest against Israel’s existence. The protest has historically been a platform for anti-Semitism.

On April 16, 2023, Martinez tweeted: “If that’s is hate and Antisemitism then you are out of touch of reality / You are unfit to be mayor and unfit to service this city if you do not respect people’s right to protest especially Palestinian people who are killed and arrested each day…”

Martinez’s tweet was in response to a tweet by Toronto Mayoral candidate Ana Bailão condemning the anti-Semitism and hatred displayed at the protest.

On May 13, 2022, Martinez tweeted: “...Zionists are not Jews, they are evil people.”

On May 13, 2022, Martinez tweeted: “yes they [Palestinians] are beaten, arrested/jailed, or shot dead by the Zionists. and they wonder why people throw stones at them.” His tweet was in response to a tweet about Palestinians throwing rocks at Israeli police.

Although romanticized as a form of “popular resistance,” rock throwing remains a deadly form of violence

On February 28, 2022, Martinez tweeted: “...the world has turned a blind eye towards the Palestinian genocide by the Israeli military and government.”

On May 22, 2019, Martinez tweeted: “...The terrorist state of #Israel can not continue doing this with HUMAN RIGHTS #HumanRights #Jews⚠️…”

On May 22, 2018, Martinez tweeted: “Another war ... Isreal was a nation built on war .... this is why Jews will never know peace because they elect a government that always destroys their society with war & murder.”

On May 22, 2018, Martinez tweeted: “Zionists… do not represent Judaism or the beautiful culture of Israel but Zionists do want to see the elimination of Palestine and they have killed innocent protesters including women and children and teenagers who have done nothing to deserve death.”

In May 2018, terror group Hamas instigated violent riots on the Israeli-Gaza border. Thousands of rioters attempted to breach Israel’s border fence, declaring their intention to harm Jews across the border under the pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

On April 1, 2018, Martinez tweeted: “#Israel Benjamin Netanyahu commits genocide & praises Israeli troops a day after they 'kill 16 #Palestinian protesters' in the border clash.”

On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests,” or the “March of Return.” The march was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests to spotlight the Palestinian demand to “return” to Israel. The “right of return” has since been discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

Most of the Gazans who died between March 30 and April 6, 2018, were identified as terror operatives who were killed while carrying out terrorist attacks, rioting against IDF forces or attempting to breach the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

On November 28, 2017, Martinez shared on Facebook a video interview of anti-Israel activist Abby Martin on a podcast by Joe Rogan. In the video, Martin called [00:00:33] Gaza an ”open air prison” and claimed [00:06:54] Israel was a “white nationalist ethno-supremacist state.”
