Jonathan Isla Rampagoa
Jonathan Isla Rampagoa was arrested after he attacked university public safety officers during an anti-Israel encampment protest in 2024.
Rampagoa has expressed support for Hamas terrorists, called for Israel's destruction and promoted incitement and hatred of America. He has also torn down posters of Israelis kidnapped by Hamas terrorists in 2023.
Rampagoa's anti-Israel activism and social media posts occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas, called “Swords of Iron.” Israel launched the war after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The terror attacks left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.
As of February 2025, Rampagoa was a member [00:00:05] of the "CUNY 8," a group of outside agitators arrested for their unlawful activism in support of an anti-Israel encampment at the City College of New York (CCNY), part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system.

Also as of February 2025, Rampagoa's LinkedIn profile said worked as a photographer at The Indypendent in Brooklyn, New York, "Assigned to coverage on labor union organizing and Palestine movement actions in New York."
As of the same date, Rampagoa's LinkedIn said he was studying for an associate's degree at Bard College (Bard).
As of the same date, Rampagoa's Facebook About page said he was located in New York, New York.
On April 30, 2024, Rampagoa was arrested for his violent participation in CUNY's anti-Israel encampment, "following a clash between protesters and police."
The New York Post reported that Rampagoa was "charged with burglary in the third degree" and "additionally charged with assault for allegedly throwing a bicycle and computer keyboard at CCNY public safety officers."
In a video posted on Instagram on February 10, 2024, Rampagoa appeared [00:00:04] alongside other CUNY 8 members, giving an interview about his participation in the CUNY encampment.
When asked what charges he faced for his participation in the encampment, Rampagoa answered [00:00:04]: "Attempted assault, burglary to [sic] the third degree."
Later, Rampagoa was asked [00:01:02] if he regretted his "involvement in the CUNY encampment" to which he answered [00:01:13]: "I do not regret my role in the CUNY encampment."
The CUNY 8 refers to a group of eight individuals arrested during an unlawful protest on April 30, 2024, for their involvement in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at the City College of New York (CCNY). CCNY is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Law enforcement officers also sustained injuries during the protest.
None of the CUNY 8 were CCNY students. They, along with other protestors, were charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass, tampering with physical evidence and possession of burglar’s tools. In addition, the arrestees were charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree for causing upward of $3 million in both damage to CCNY property and additional security measures the school was forced to put into place after the protest.
The other arrestees from the protest accepted plea bargains, while the CUNY 8 pleaded not guilty and decided to take their case to trial. The defendants face up to seven years in prison.
The CCNY encampment was one of about 140 anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and used anti-Semitic language in their activism.
As of February 2025, Rampagoa's LinkedIn profile cover photo featured graffiti that read: "GAZA ." His LinkedIn bio said: "...Free Palestine."
The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It first appeared in propaganda videos produced by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during its terror attacks of October 7, 2023. The symbol was used by Hamas to signify one of their Israeli targets.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation.
Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, approximately 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.
A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

In November 2023, an X user shared a screenshot of Rampagoa's post from a since-deleted Instagram account that read: "From The River. To the Sea Palestine Will Be Free ..."
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
As of February 2025, Rampagoa's Facebook page cover photo featured a screenshot of an Instagram post showing a banner that read: "BRING THE WAR HOME," along with an image of an American flag set on fire.
The banner was hung from an overpass in Brooklyn, New York.

On November 6, 2023, less than a month after Hamas terrorists murdered around 1,200 Israelis, Rampagoa appeared [00:00:01] in a video posted on X, tearing down posters of Israelis kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and taken hostage to Gaza.
On November 7, 2023, the New York Post reported that the incident occurred near "Hunter College on East 67th Street and Lexington Avenue on the Upper East Side," in New York City.
