Jonathan Hogstad

Jonathan Hogstad is a non-profit executive who ripped down a poster raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. The December 2023 incident occurred in New York, New York.

Hamas kidnapped the civilians, including women and children, during a series of terror attacks and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Hamas executed the terror attacks on October 7, 2023.

The other Hamas war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Hogstad ripped down the posters.

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

As of December 13, 2023, Hogstad was listed online as being based in New York City, where he was director of strategic campaigns and strategic research at Community Change / Action.

The group calls itself a “national organization that builds the power of low-income people, especially people of color, to fight for a society where everyone can thrive.” It also refers to itself as “an organization of organizers. We bridge the worlds of grassroots organizing and progressive politics with organizers working across the United States and headquarters in Washington, D.C.”

Before working there, Hogstad worked for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ trade union, headquartered in New York City.

As of December 2023, Hogstad was listed online as having graduated from Columbia University (Columbia) with a master’s degree in international affairs in 2010. He also graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2004.
