Jeremy Wershoven
Overview
As of December 2020, Wershoven’s LinkedIn page indicated he graduated from FAU in 2020, with a bachelor’s degree in History.
His LinkedIn page also said he worked as a “Retail Sales Associate” at REI [Recreational Equipment, Inc.] in Boca Raton, Florida, as of October 2020.
SJP Activism
While Wershoven was president of SJP FAU, he signed an open letter dated November 8, 2015, published by the anti-Israel organization Jewish Voice Peace (JVP) and the Arab American Institute (AAI).The letter addressed the Center for American Progress (CAP) and read: “As progressive leaders across a broad spectrum of social movements, we are dismayed that CAP will sponsor an address by [Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin] Netanyahu on November 10th. CAP should not be providing him with this opportunity.”
On April 6, 2015, Wershoven was mentioned in a Facebook post that read: “SJP is looking for more members and more involvement on campus, so if anyone is interested please contact Jeremy Wershoven...”
On March 25, 2015, Wershoven and other SJP activists featured in an SJP FAU Twitter photo, posing in front of a structure painted to characterize Israel’s security barrier as an “Apartheid Wall.”
Israel’s security barrier, 97 percent of which is a low chain-link barrier, was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks. The concrete portions of the fence were built in response to Palestinian sniper attacks.
The tweet containing the photo read: “@SJP_FAU raises awareness for human rights violations w/ mock Apartheid Wall! #FreePalestine #FAU.”
On March 12, 2015, while Wershoven was Vice President of SJP FAU, he was listed as a host on a Facebook event page for a “student-led lecture,” titled: “The U.S/Israel Partnership--Propaganda, Monetary Aid and Ethnocentrism.”
The event’s Facebook description said: “The lecture will touch on the various ideological similarities of the U.S and Israel, their shared imperialism motivations, and the notable financial relationship between the two powers.”
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
