Overview
Jeanine Abusood has compared Israel to Nazi Germany, promoted incitement, demonized Israel and engaged in anti-Israel activism. Abusood also showed support for violence and spread hatred of Israel while in high school.As of July 2021, Abusood’s LinkedIn page said she was an “Ambitious Future Psychiatrist” and was studying for a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), due to graduate in 2024.
Abusood’s LinkedIn also said she was a “Finance and marketing associate at Khal Management,” since May 2021.
As of July 2021, Abusood used the handle “jeanineabusood” and screen name “جنين [Jeanine]” on Twitter.
Also as of July 2021, Abusood’s LinkedIn said she was located in the Bronx, in New York City, New York.
Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany
On May 15, 2021, Abusood posted an Instagram story with a graphic that said: “If you are silent when it comes to Palestine, you would have been silent at the time of the Holocaust.”The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
Promoting Incitement
Abusood retweeted a July 18, 2021 tweet that said: “Just days before Eid [Muslim religious festival], Israeli occupation have fired tear gas and rubber bullets at Muslim worshippers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.”On July 18, 2021, Palestinians on the Temple Mount clashed with Israeli police in protest against Jews visiting the compound to commemorate Tisha B’av.
Tisha B’Av, regarded as the saddest day in the Jewish calendar, is a day of mourning for the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem.
Palestinians and anti-Israel activists have historically described visits by Jews to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem as “incursions” during which Jews purportedly “storm” the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, with which they attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.
Demonizing Israel
Abusood retweeted an August 28, 2021 tweet with a graphic that said: “when times get tough i just blame everything on Israel.”On July 3, 2021, Abusood posted an Instagram story with a graphic that said “F**k Israel.”
Abusood retweeted a June 9, 2021 tweet that said: “Stop ethnic cleansing in Palestine.”
On May 20, 2021, Abusood posted a video on TikTok from an anti-Israel demonstration of protesters crowding around an Israeli flag and chanting: “burn that s**t.” Abusood wrote: “what happens when arabs see an israeli flag
#palestine #burnthatshit #freepalestine.”On May 15, 2021, Abusood tweeted: “the nakba never ended.”
The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.
Abusood retweeted a May 13, 2021 tweet that accused Israel of “GENOCIDE.”
On May 12, 2021, Abusood posted an Instagram story with a graphic that accused Israel of “settler colonialism, military occupation, land theft and ethnic cleansing…”

Abusood retweeted a September 29, 2020 tweet that accused Israel of alleged “war crimes and genocide” in response to a tweet that asked: “...what is Israel famous for?”

”Anti-Israel Activism
On May 31, 2021, Abusood posted a video clip in an Instagram story of herself at an anti-Israel protest in New York that day, leading anti-Israel protesters in chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
Protesters also chanted [00:02:34] in Arabic, calling to bomb Tel Aviv.
Also, on May 31, 2021, Abusood posted a video clip in an Instagram story of herself and other anti-Israel protesters chanting [00:02:17]: “there is only one solution, intifada revolution.”
Protesters also chanted [00:00:16]: “intifada, intifada, long live the intifada” and [00:02:00]: “we don’t want no two states, we want ‘48” as well as [00:05:29] “intifada, intifada, globalize the intifada.”
On the same day, Abusood also posted a video clip on Instagram of protesters burning an Israeli flag, with text across the video that said: “most beautiful sight.”
On May 19, 2021, during Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Abusood posted a video on TikTok from an anti-Israel protest she attended on May 18, 2021 and wrote: “we took over NYC…” The video showed her posing with a Palestinian flag standing behind a sign that said: “Long live the intifada.”
In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

Another video from the May 18, 2021 protest showed activists chanting [00:19:49]: “we don’t want no two states, we want ‘48… settlers, settlers go back home, Palestine is ours alone” and [00:34:58] “there is only one solution, intifada revolution… intifada, intifada, long live intifada.”
Protesters that day also attacked two Israelis and called them “Zionist Pigs” and “Dirty Jews.”
