Overview

Ismail Quran [Ismail W. Quran] has glorified Hitler and spread anti-Semitism as well as anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Quran has also equated Israel with Nazi Germany and defended the designated terror group Hamas.

In November 2017, Quran was a member of a closed Facebook group honoring Osama bin Laden.

As of May 2022, records showed that Quran was employed by the City of Cleveland as a Patrol Officer in 2019 and 2018.

On November 4, 2021, Quran was honored [00:51:44] by the Cleveland Police and awarded with the 2019 Officer of the Year award at the Cleveland Division of Police Awards. At the same award ceremony, Quran received [00:39:56] the Distinguished Service Medal.

While receiving the award, the master of ceremonies for the event said Quran began
[00:51:55] his career as a Cleveland Police Officer on July 2, 2018, assigned to the 3rd District.

As of June 2022, Quran’s LinkedIn page said he graduated in 2010 from Cleveland State University (CSU), where he studied Criminology and was a member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA).

On April 22, 2012, Quran shared a photo on Instagram showing a “Certificate of Completion” for having “successfully passed the Police Officer Physical Agility Exam.” The certificate was issued by the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Public Safety Institute Law Enforcement Training Division.

In 2012, Quran also indicated on Twitter that he “passed Cleveland police & firefighter tests.”

On May 18, 2016, Quran tweeted that he was “headed to the NYPD police training for agility test.”

On March 8, 2018, Quran wrote on Facebook: “I went back to pursue my education,” and shared a March 6, 2018 letter addressed to him by Tri-C from the “Western Campus President, Dr. Donna Imhoff,” congratulating Quran on having “qualified for the Dean’s List.”

Quran’s tweets from August and October 2018 indicated he was still a student at the time.

As of June 2022, Quran went by the name “Ish Ismail” on Facebook and used the alias “Ish_1988” on Twitter.

As of the same date, Quran used the handle “ish__718” and the alias “Ish Ismail”on Instagram.

Glorifying Hitler

On July 14, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...F**k that Jew. Say something!” His tweet featured an image of Hitler with a caption that read: “LET ME SALUTE TO HITLER THE GREAT. He said ‘i would have killed all the jews of the world, but i kept some to show the world why i killed them.’”

Quran's tweet was in reply to another Twitter user, NBA player Patrick Beverley, who referred to Jewish former professional basketball player Omri Casspi in a tweet.

Also on July 14, 2014, Quran tweeted: “Actually received a lot of support on that Hitler pic I posted on IG! Lol again it's for the Zionists, not Jews. There is a difference.”

On July 15, 2014, Quran tweeted the same Hitler image and wrote: “...I don't salute this man, but what is happening to us, is what happened to the Jews by Hitler.”

Spreading Anti-Semitism

On October 15, 2015, Quran tweeted: “Lol bum a** Jew tried to intimidate me…don't try that s**t with me.”

On October 7, 2015, Quran tweeted: “...Should read about the JEws killing all the Palestinians for no reason 😕😔.”

On August 11, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...I HOPE THEY TAKE THE JEWS OUT OF PALESTINE.”

On July 22, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...stop ignoring my fantasy football questions Jew Bag.”

On July 17, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...F**K THE ZIONIST JEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! B**ch A** MOTHER F**KERS.”

On July 14, 2014, Quran mentioned: “that scumbag Jew,” in reference to the photo featured on the tweet, which depicted an actor playing an Israeli soldier during a street performance in Bahrain, taken in 2009.

On July 13, 2014, Quran tweeted a photo of a child urinating on an Israeli flag and wrote: “Should of taken a s**t also lol #FreePalestine #Israel #Pali #Jews.”

On July 3, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...F**k the @ Jews #FreePalestine.”

On July 2, 2014, Quran tweeted: “Scumbag Yahoodi [Jew].” The tweet featured a photo of someone wrapped in an Israeli flag.

On May 9, 2014, Quran tweeted to Lara Kollab: @ellekay_ who bothering ya!!!! Let me at em! Lol if it's a Jew give me their @ and I'll do it 😂😂😂.”

Lara Kollab was a medical student who stated she would give Jews the “wrong meds” and that supporters of Israel should have their “immune cells killed.” Kollab was removed from medical residencies in 2018 and 2019 due to the revelation of her past anti-Semitic tweets and her subsequent conduct.

On January 21, 2014, Quran tweeted: “I ask for videos of Shump [“Shoot ‘em up” video games], she sends 2! What a Jew lol.”

On June 25, 2013, Quran tweeted: “...F the Jews lol #FreePalestine.”

On September 21, 2012, Quran tweeted: “I'll beat the hell out of you like I do Nadiah the Jew lol.”

Spreading Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories

On February 23, 2015, Quran tweeted: “Jews run the world lol Facts! Our owner is Jew! KNICKS!”

On February 3, 2015, Quran tweeted: “...ISIS = Israeli Secret Intelligence Unit. Who does Israel get support from? The U.S. #Aliens lol #InsideJob #OpenYourEyes.”

On August 2, 2014, in response to a tweet that read: “the jewish lobby. some ppl think it's more insidious than that,” Quran tweeted: “...they run the USA tho, that we both know lol and our Knicks!...”

Also on August 2, 2014, Quran tweeted: “…it's actually crazy out President really has no power & is Israel's puppet.”

On the same day Quran tweeted: “...just let Jews come here to USA since they run it anyway lol then Pali will be alone.”

On August 1, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...Palestine is our land lol A Jew said that! Stop watching CNN that's run by JEWS lol.”

On the same day, Quran tweeted: “Palestine is our land lmfao [laughing my f**king a** off] they invading so we fighting back. Trying but Jews get $ from US & Obama their puppet.”

On February 24, 2013, Quran tweeted: “The Jews run everything smh [shaking my head] even Oscars…Idk [I don’t know] why people upset. #5BrokenCameras had no chance sadly.”

Quran was referring to the 2011 documentary film, “5 Broken Cameras,” which was shot and co-directed by Palestinian farmer Emat Burnat. The film was nominated for an Academy Award in 2013.

Equating Israel with Nazi Germany

On August 4, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Quran tweeted: “#FreePalestine #FreeGaza #Holocaust #Israel #Zionists.”

Quran’s tweet featured an image with text that read: “I wonder if holocaust victims would have been called terrorists if they shot rockets from their concentration camps onto Nazi citizens? Would the world be screaming self defense as the Nazis continued their genocide?”

Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

On August 2, 2014, Quran tweeted: “it's genocide!!!! It's what hitler did to them, that their doing to our people!...”

On July 24, 2014, Quran shared an image on Instagram that juxtaposed a cartoon of a Nazi soldier next to a Jewish Holocaust victim with a photo of an Israeli soldier next to a Palestinian. Quran commented: “#Truth #Facts #FreePalestine.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Defending Hamas

On August 2, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...he's not acknowledging that Hamas wasn't the ones who killed 3 boys that.”

In August 2014, Hamas admitted responsibility for the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers at a bus stop on June 12th of that year. The bodies of the abducted boys were found buried in Palestinian-controlled territory on June 30, 2014.

Also on August 2, 2014, Quran tweeted: “...as MeMe said you kno the 3 kidnapped weren't done by Hamas, Israel set that up to start this!”

On the same day, Quran tweeted: “...Im like the Jews who think Its okay 4 Hammas 2 fight back the Jews who invaded our country. Those Jews are educated.”

On the same day, Quran also tweeted: “...Israel invaded Palestine. Hamas defending their Land!!!!”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

On July 15, 2014, Quran tweeted: “Israeli went the distance to kill 3 of their own lol and set up Pali. It's sick. No proof Hamas even did that.”

MSA

The MSA was established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations."

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.
