Iffah Baig
Iffah Baig was the events coordinator of the anti-Israel campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at American University (AU SJP) in 2024.
AU SJP expressed support for terrorism and spread hatred of Israel during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, launched after the October 7, 2023 attacks where nearly 1,200 Israelis were murdered.
AU SJP has also promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of August 2024, Iffah Baig was listed as a member of the e-board and treasurer of the anti-Israel campus group Muslim Student Association (MSA) at American University (AU MSA).
As of March 2025, Iffah Baig was listed on the AU website as studying for a bachelor's degree in public health at AU. She was slated [slide 3] to graduate in 2027.
As of the same date, Iffah Baig was listed as being located in Washington, D.C, which is where AU is located.
In October 2024, while Baig was the events coordinator for AU SJP, the group organized an anti-Israel protest to mark "one year since the beginning of the brutal israeli genocide against the Palestinian people."
The event took place during Israel's war against Hamas and the event featured [slide 6] a "History of the Resistance Teach In & Discussion."
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.
For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
On September 23, 2024, AU SJP posted on Instagram a flyer promoting a "teach in on the student intifada." The "student intifada" was a period of anti-Israel activism in spring 2024 where student activists and outside agitators set up encampments on college campuses to protest Israel's war against Hamas.
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
SJP is the leading student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses. The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian, who has spread anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campus campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks and pushing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, and SJP chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for terrorists.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
