Haris Alisic

Overview

Haris Alisic has expressed support for terrorists and promoted the terror organization Hamas, on Twitter. He has also spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and incitement, advocated hatred of Israel and supported the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

As of February 2019, Alisic’s LinkedIn page said Alisic was the “Head of Audience Development and Engagement” for AJ+ in Doha, Qatar, from “Sep 2017 — Present.”

As of the same date, his Facebook page said Alisic was a “Former Engagement Lead, AJ+ Arabic at AJ+” and “Former Senior Officer - Engagement at Al Jazeera.”

Alisic’s LinkedIn page said as an “Engagement Lead” at AJ+, he launched AJ+ and AJ+ Arabi and while a “Senior Officer” at Al Jazeera he  launched AJ+, Al Jazeera America, Al Jazeera Turk, Al Jazeera Balkans.

Alisic’s LinkedIn also said he was a 2007 graduate of Lund University ( Lund), where he studied “Business Intelligence, Intelligence Analysis, Entrepreneurship, Swedish and EU-law. His LinkedIn page also said he received an “Associate’s Degree” in “Computer Science - Interaction Technology” from Malmö University (Malmö) in 2001.

Expressing Support for Terrorists

On July 31, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Alisic tweeted: “MT @kelo3adi Do you remember Abdulrahman, his fiancé wept over his body? Today, she reunited with him in heaven #Gaza.” The tweet featured a photo of Hamas terrorist Abdulrahman Al-Zamili’s dead body.

Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.

Al Zamili was one of eight members of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas who were killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) while in a Hamas attack tunnel. The IDF was preventing Hamas infiltrators from entering into Israel through the tunnels.

Hamas terror tunnels are intended for mass murders and hostage-taking scenarios against Israeli civiliansand soldiers. They stretch from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

On July 23, 2014, during OPE, Alisic tweeted: “RT @DavidWardMP The big question is - if I lived in #Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes.”

On July 28, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “MT @malsaafin Bombing Ismail Haniyeh's house exemplifies Israel's failure. It knows the house has 0 military value, like mosques & hospitals.” Ismail Haniyeh is a leader of Hamas.

On July 20, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “. @Qassam_English 19:10 Al-Qassam Brigades caught Zionist soldier north of Beit Hanoun in response to #Israeli Crimes on #Gaza @qassamfeed.’” Alisic’s tweet referred to Israeli soldier, Oron Shaul.

Shaul was caught in a deadly ambush in Shejaiya, Gaza, by Hamas terrorists during Operation Protective Edge (OPE). Hamas celebrated the capture of Shaul and even produced a song. The IDF later determined that Shaul was dead and that his body was held by Hamas.

Promoting Hamas

During Israel’s Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD) in 2012, Alisic used his Twitter account to retweet hostile statements towards Israel, made by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal (@Falasteeni Meshal).

Israel commenced Operations Cast Lead (OCL), Pillar of Defense (OPD) and Protective Edge (OPE) in 2008-09, 2012 and 2014, respectively, in order to stop Hamas rocket fire from Gaza targeting Israeli civilians.

On December 8, 2012, Alisic tweeted: “RT  @Riy .@Falasteeni is live tweeting (in English) the #Hamas25 speeches taking place in #Gaza now.”

On the same day, Alisic tweeted: “RT @Falasteeni Meshal: All of the leaders of the resistance will meet in Palestine in the near future, in Haifa and Yaffa.”

Also on that day, Alisic wrote on Twitter: “@Falasteeni Meshal: All credit for our successes goes to the armed resistance and its leaders. #Gaza.”

Spreading Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories

On January 11, 2017, Alisic tweeted: “So @thefabians are part of the #Israel campaign in the #UK? It seems that @UKLabour is under sustained foreign intelligence campaign.”

On January 10, 2017, Alisic tweeted: “Man this just goes deeper and deeper. Is there any part of the #UK political life that #Israel hasn't infiltrated? #ShaiMasot.”

Alisic’s tweet embedded a January 10, 2017 Al Jazeera News tweet that said: “BREAKING: Israel lobby infiltrated UK student body in bid to oust Muslim NUS head, counter BDS, Al Jazeera reveals aje.io/a3rl.”

His tweet also embedded an Al Jazeera article titled: “Exclusive: Israel lobby infiltrates UK student movement.”

The article accused: “the UJS [Union of Jewish Students] not only received money from the Israeli embassy, but also attempted to influence the NUS [National Union of Students] presidency.”

Also on January 10, 2017, Alisic tweeted: “Imagine hiw much more of #Israel meddling in #UK democracy is happening, that's not caught on camera?”

Spreading Incitement

On November 6, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “RT @iShewaani: Someone has to stop this Israeli madness!   #AlAqsaUnderAttack”

On November 5, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “RT @AlArabi__: Destruction of  Al-Aqsa Mosque today by the Israeli's  Via: @Suleiman_Dawood.”

That same day, several dozen masked Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the Al Aqsa Mosque. They set off fireworks and threw stones and iron bars at Israeli police.

In the fall of 2014, Palestinian leaders and media incited a wave of violence against Israelis with the lie that Israel intended to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. This resulted in the November 18, 2014 Har Nof massacre, in which terrorists murdered six people in a Jerusalem synagogue during morning prayers.

Advocating Hatred of Israel

On May 26, 2018, Alisic tweeted: “This is how #Israel was build. On ethnic cleansing. Today, it survives on apartheid.  #svpol #IsraeliApartheid.”

On May 14, 2018, during the March of Return protests, organized by Hamas, Alisic tweeted: “Today’s victims of continuous #genocide that #Israel has been conducting in occupied #Palestine. The true face of #IsraeliApartheid.”

On May 14, 2018, Alisic tweeted: “This is what world thinks about state terrorism of #Israel and #IsraeliApartheid. The regime in Tel Aviv is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, armed with nuclear weapons. #svpol.”

Also on that day, Alisic tweeted: “This is a true face of #IsraeliApartheid and this is what their lackeys who try to full you that ‘Israel is a democracy’ want you to endorse. I'm sure you are smarter than that” Alisic’s tweet embedded a tweet that read: “37 Palestinians killed so far in Gaza today. 1300 wounded. This is a massacre.”

In May 2018, terror organization Hamas instigated the “March of Return.” Thousands of violent rioters attempted numerous breaches of Israel’s border fence with Gaza, seeking to harm Jews across the border. Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of the fence, some by armed Palestinians. On May 15, 2018, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahhar said the Gaza protests were only a pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

On May 16, 2018, a Hamas senior official, Salah al-Bardawil, stated that 50 out of 62 protesters killed during the May 14 Gaza border protest were Hamas operatives. Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also claimed that three of its members were killed at the same protest.

On March 31, 2018, Alisic tweeted: “This is what #Israel is, a murderous occupation, a brutal regime. #svpol #IsraeliApartheid”

On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests,” or the “March of Return.” The march was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests to spotlight the Palestinian demand to “return” to Israel. The “right of return” has since been discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire. Agitators also threw Molotov cocktails and firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks.

On December 25, 2017, Alisic tweeted: “Child-molesting force of occupation continues their business of #genocide. #svpol #Israel #Palestine.” Alisic’s tweet embedded a tweet by anti-Israel activist, Ben White that said: “Israeli military court extends detention of Palestinian teen Ahed Tamimi, as well as of her mother & cousin.”

Ahed Tamimi has a long history of physically attacking Israeli soldiers. Tamimi is the daughter of Bassem Tamimi, who is known for exploiting young children as political props in staged confrontations with Israeli soldiers.

On July 9, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “MT @Zohaib_Author Whole world shouts when #ISIS takes over Iraq but no 1 cares when #Israel terrorists take over #Palestine
#FreePalestine.”

On August 3, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “RT @MaxBlumenthal: Brian Eno: Giving money to Israel is like ‘sending money to the Klan’…”

On July 24, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “MT @saramsalem: If u think Israel wants peace then u don't understand settler colonialism. Israel wants Palestinian land w/out Palestinians.”

Supporting BDS

On September 1, 2018, Alisic tweeted: “Congratulations @LanaDelRey on ur courage to succumb to the pressure of #IsraeliApartheid. Genocide should never be washed by music performances.” Artist Lana Del Rey, after pressure from BDS activists, canceled her scheduled performance in Israel.

On May 29, 2018, Alisic tweeted: “Righteous move by @shakira! Hopefully, one day, Swedish politicians who support #IsraeliApartheid like @bjorklundjan will get on the right side of history as well. #svpol #bds.”

Shakira reportedly canceled a scheduled performance in Israel after pressure from BDS. However, entertainment company Live Nation tweeted that Shakira was never scheduled to perform in Israel last summer but hoped to “in the near future.”

On September 13, 2017, Alisic tweeted: “Slap sanctions on them! HRW: Israeli banks complicit in settlement expansion #israeliapartheid  http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/09/h …”

On August 6, 2014, Alisic tweeted: “#ICC4Israel RT @ajplus: Why are people boycotting McDonald's, SodaStream, and HP? We explain the BDS movement. http://trib.al/QozZUh7.” Alisic’s tweet shared a link to an AJ+ video which promoted BDS “to get Israel to change its policies when it comes to human rights.”

The video championed those who have boycotted Israel and mocked [00:01:56] those who did not: “The killing of civilians didn’t shake SodaStream spokeswoman's ScarJo’s [Scarlett Johannson] resolve to stand by her brand….some people just love bubbly water more than human rights.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
