Gustavo Espada
Gustavo Espada is a Harvard University employee who denied Hamas terrorist atrocities against Israeli civilians, called for Israel’s destruction, spread antisemitic conspiracy theories and promoted hatred of Israel in January 2024.
Espada published his remarks after Hamas war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. The terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron,” which was going on when Espada wrote his remarks.
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 7] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.
As of January 25, 2024, Espada, who also goes by Gustavo Alfonso Espada-Vick, was listed on the Harvard website as the financial and systems coordinator in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations.
As of January 29, 2024, Espada was listed online as a member of the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers.
As of January 31, 2024, Espada was listed online as having graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1996. His Twitter account also said: “aka Gustavo Alfonso Espada-Vick Harvard College ‘96, anarchistic.”
