Spreading Anti-Semitism

Mahmood retweeted a May 29, 2021 tweet that read: “وجه اخر للاحتلال، غير مألوف للبعض.
They kill us and then steal our organs. #IsraeliTerrorists #SavePalestine.”

Accusations against Israel stealing or harvesting organs have been rehashed over the years, echoing old anti-Semitic blood libels against Jews alleging they would abduct gentiles for sacrificial purposes, including using the blood of Christian children to bake matzah for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

Mahmood retweeted a May 26, 2021 tweet that read: “Israel is no longer able to flip the truth, people now control the news!”

The assertion that Jews control the media has been traced to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic fabricated text that depicts wealthy Jews conspiring to take over the world.

Mahmood retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “O Allah, liberate Masjid [Mosque] Al-Aqsa from the usurping Jews and the occupying treacherous Zionists O Allah, they harmed your believing servants, and attacked the worshipers O Allah, shake them and destroy them O Allah, do not raise their flag in Al-Aqsa and Palestine!”

On May 7-10, 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound, following claims that Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy Al-Aqsa has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state.

Calling for Israel’s Destruction

Mahmood retweeted a May 14, 2021 tweet that read: “my people have been through enough. we deserve justice and by that i mean the TOTAL COLLAPSE of israel.”

Mahmood retweeted a May 8, 2021 tweet that read: “Israel is a Terrorist State. Ya Allah destroy them.”

Mahmood also retweeted a May 8, 2021 tweet that read: “This laylatul qadr we pray for the downfall of Israel.”

Laylat al-Qadr is an Islamic festival marking the night when the Quran was said to be first sent down from heaven and its initial verses revealed to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad

Equating Israel with Nazi Germany

Mahmood retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “With the Holocaust the world said never again, it’s happening again yet the world is silent.”

The tweet was responding to a tweet that read: “Israel is ETHNIC CLEANSING, they’re no different from Nazi Germany.”

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.

Mahmood retweeted a May 13, 2021 tweet that read: “Like Nazis in 1940s in Germany: Isra*li settlers mark Palestinian houses to make it easier to attack them later.”

Promoting Incitement

Mahmood retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “allah yil3ankom shu klab [May Allah curse you, the dogs].”

Mahmood’s tweet featured a tweet with a video purporting to show Jews dancing and cheering while a tree burned near the Al-Aqsa mosque.

The fire was reportedly caused by Palestinian rioters shooting fireworks at Israeli police and was quickly extinguished with no damage to the mosque. However, social media users suggested that Jews were celebrating the destruction of the mosque, when the celebrants had in fact gathered in honor of Jerusalem Day, an Israeli national holiday.

On May 10, 2021, Mahmood tweeted: “Y’all were donating and posting non stop when the Notre Dame was burning. Al-Aqsa is burning right now, where’s the energy?”

Mahmood also retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “Israel is burning Mosques. During Ramadan. This the most devilish of war crimes.”

Mahmood retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet by San Jose State University (SJSU) student, Ahlam Taha that read: “the zionist goal to destroy al aqsa will never succeed. the palestinian people will never go down without a fight and risk their lives for its protection. jerusalem belongs to palestine.”

Supporting Terrorists

Mahmood retweeted a July 8, 2021 tweet that read: “On this day, 49 years ago, the Israeli Mossad assassinated the Palestinian author Ghassan Kanafani for bravely defending his Palestinian cause using his pen. Israel has killed him, but it was unable to kill his words as his writings have spread all over the world. #FreePalestine.”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Mahmood retweeted a May 20, 2021 tweet that read: “Ahmad Erakat was shot dead at a checkpoint on the day of his sister's wedding and a month before his own.”

Ahmad Erekat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat; Ahmed Erakat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured. The incident was captured on video.

Mahmood retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “a'ed abu amro, 22, was hunted and shot by the isra*li forces after this photograph went viral.”

Abu Amro [Muhammad Na’im Muhammad Abu Amro] was famously photographed participating in violent protests organized and funded by Hamas along Israel’s border with Gaza. Abu Amro was later wounded while participating in the protests.

Mahmood retweeted a March 29, 2021 tweet that read: “The moment Fatmeh, from #Jerusalem, reunited with her husband Majd [Barbar], who spent 20 years in Israeli prisons.”

Majd Barbar was sentenced to “20 years in jail on charges of affiliation” with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and for “his role in armed resistance” in 2001. Barbar reportedly formed “an armed resistance group” in Jerusalem, during the Second Intifada.

Demonizing Israel

On July 7, 2021, Mahmood tweeted: “the ethnic cleansing in palestine is still happening, don’t stay quiet. #FreePalestine #SaveSheikhJarrah #SaveSheikhJarrah.”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

Mahmood retweeted a May 16, 2021 tweet that read: “Israel is an apartheid state. Pass it on.”

Mahmood retweeted a June 3 2021 tweet that read: “Palestinians are living reminders of the genocidal creation of isra*l. our existence is resistance because isra*ls creation was spawned out of our full destruction, according to isra*l we were all supposed to be dead. We are reminders of the root of their evil creation.”

On May 14, 2021, during Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Mahmood tweeted: “#GenocideinGaza.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
On May 11, 2021, Mahmood tweeted: “so palestinians protecting their home and their land is terrorism, but israel wiping out the population isnt genocide. such great logic.”

Mahmood was responding to a tweet by the New York Post that read: “Palestinian terrorists fire rockets into Israel as violent clashes continue…”

On May 7, 2021, Mahmood tweeted: “if you’re not spreading awareness of the ethnic cleansing in palestine, you’re supporting it. #SaveSheikhJarrah.”

Supporting BDS

Mahmood retweeted a July 19, 2021 tweet that read: “Don’t buy Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Continue to boycott their products until they cut ALL TIES with operations in occupied Palestine. #boycottbenandjerrys.”

On July 19, 2021, ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s announced it would stop all product sales in “Occupied Palestinian Territory.” The BDS movement celebrated the decision, calling on the ice cream company to boycott the State of Israel in its entirety. However, company owner Unilever overrode the subsidiary’s decision after multiple US states decided to divest public funds from Unilever.

Mahmood retweeted a May 27, 2021 tweet that read: “boycotting potential partners in the workplace - another form of BDS! i finna [going to] get fired but ion care #freepalestine.”

Mahmood retweeted a May 15, 2021 tweet that read: “How many innocent Palestinians have to loose their lives before Sanctions are put on Israel #GazaUnderAttack.”

On May 10, 2021, Mahmood tweeted: “#FreePalestine #BoycottIsrael #SaveSheikhJarrah.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
