Finn Howe
Finn Howe [Finn Isaac Howe] has expressed support for terrorists and engaged in anti-Israel activism as the president of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Arizona State University (SJP ASU).
Howe is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Howe's anti-Israel activism took place during Israel’s war against Hamas, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds. To learn more, see Canary Mission's page on Hamas.
During the 2023 - 2024 academic year, Howe served as the president of SJP ASU.
Howe graduated from ASU with a bachelor's degree in computer science in May 2025.
ASU is located in Tempe, Arizona.
On October 12, 2023, Howe participated in an SJP ASU rally on the ASU campus. SJP ASU's Instagram post about the rally said the rally was "in support of Palestinian resistance."
Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped hundreds and wounded thousands. War crimes included mass rape and torture. Many Palestinian civilians participated in and supported the attacks, and Gazans working in the targeted Israeli communities gave intelligence to Hamas on where to strike.
For more information, see the Canary Mission page on Hamas.
At the same SJP ASU rally, anti-Israel activists chanted: "free, free Palestine" and "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."
“Free Palestine” is a chant that has been described as a "battle cry for the death of Jews.” In May 2025, two Israeli diplomats in Washington, D.C., were murdered by a gunman shouting “Free Palestine!” In June 2025, one pro-Israel activist was killed and over 25 were injured in Boulder, Colorado, when a man yelling “Free Palestine” firebombed them.
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
On January 16, 2024, during Israel's war against Hamas terrorists, SJP ASU posted on Instagram: "HAPPENING TODAY: A presentation and analysis of the Houthi movement's support of Palestine and illegal U.S. bombing of Yemen."
Following the outbreak of Israel’s 2023 war against Hamas, Houthi terrorists attacked commercial ships off Yemen’s Red Sea coast and launched missiles into southern Israel. Like Hamas, the Houthi movement is backed by Iran, and is designated as a terror group by the United States, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
The Houthi slogan reads: “God is the Greatest / Death to America / Death to Israel / A Curse Upon the Jews / Victory to Islam.”
On November 17, 2023, ASU SJP was listed as a collaborator on an Instagram post featuring a photo of anti-Israel agitator Rashida Tlaib speaking at an SJP ASU event on Zoom. The post also said: "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free."
Rashida Tlaib was elected to the U.S. Congress in November 2018. She has advocated for a one-state solution, endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and called for reduced foreign aid to Israel. In July 2019, Tlaib co-sponsored a pro-BDS bill in the U.S. Congress introduced by Rep. Ilhan Omar.
In fall 2023, ASU SJP organized an anti-Israel petition calling on ASU to support the BDS movement.
Howe was quoted in the article as saying: "We are going to ASU, full-throated with our chests out, and are going to say that you must boycott and divest from the companies that support the occupation."
The petition was presented to the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) on November 14, 2023. The USG meeting was reportedly shut down early due to anti-Israel protests.
On November 14, 2023, SJP ASU postedon Instagram a video of the meeting, which showed students holding signs that read [00:01:17]: "RESPECT EXISTENCE OR EXPECT RESISTANCE," and [00:01:30]: "INTIFADA UNTIL VICTORY."
The term “intifada” translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection” and carries the connotation of terrorist violence, including suicide bombings, hijackings, shootings and stabbings.
Howe spoke [01:06:10] at the meeting on behalf of SJP ASU, calling on ASU to boycott and divest from Israel.
On February 8, 2024, SJP ASU posted on Instagram a video of an anti-Israel rally led by Howe.
The video showed protestors chanting [00:02:43]: "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!" At the rally, one of the speakers alleged [00:02:04]: "... ASU brings IOF soldiers to our campus."
“Israeli Occupation Forces,” or “IOF,” is a derogatory name for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army.
SJP is the leading student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses. The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian, who has spread anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campus campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks and pushing the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, and SJP chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for terrorists.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
