Farida El Hefni

Overview

Farida El Hefni ripped down posters raising awareness of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. The November 2023 incident occurred in New York, New York, while she was a graduate student in anthropology at Columbia University (Columbia).

El Hefni has spread hatred of Israel, Zionists and police on social media. She also spread hatred of Israel in late 2017 as a co-president of the Students for a Democratic Society at University of Rochester (UR SDS), a Marxist activist group.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas kidnapped the Israelis featured on the posters that El Hefni ripped down. Among them were many women and children. They were kidnapped during a series of terror attacks and war crimes that left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Other war crimes included mass murder, torture, rape and beheadings. Israel retaliated with a war that it called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Ripping Down Posters of Israeli Civilians Kidnapped by Hamas

On November 28, 2023, El Hefni was filmed using a box cutter to rip down posters of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. The incident reportedly occurred in Manhattan, New York.

The woman recording the incident confronted El Hefni for ripping down the posters and littering them since El-Hefni tossed pieces of a torn-up poster on the sidewalk.

El Hefni responded [00:00:23]: “I mean, you’re the trash, really.”

The woman filming said: “Oh, I’m the trash?”

El Hefni responded [00:00:26]: “Yeah, you genocide denier.”

El Hefni then gave [00:00:30] a middle finger to the woman filming her.

The woman filming said: “I’m the trash? You don’t even know me.”

El Hefni responded [00:00:32]: “You’re a Zionist. You’re a Zionist.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture.

Hatred of Israel and Zionists

On November 29, 2023, a series of undated screenshots of El-Hefni’s anti-Israel social media posts were published on Instagram.

In one screenshot, El-Hefni posed [slide 8] for a photo while holding her middle finger up and standing in front of graffiti that said: “F**K ISRAEL.” El-Hefni commented: “bait :)) / keep giving them hell. By all means necessary.”

Anti-Israel activists use the phrase “by any means necessary,” as one of multiple euphemisms for terrorist violence, including “resistance.”

El-Hefni also posed [slide 8] with a sign that said: “FREE PALESTINE.” El-Hefni commented: “swipe to watch how i roll up to protest zionist cucks.”

In December 2017, the U.S. government announced its decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In May 2017, El-Hefni was appointed as the co-president of the UR SDS.

On November 11, 2016, El-Hefni was listed as a member of the UR SDS committee called: “THE STATE OPRESSION/PALESTINE AWARENESS COMMITTEE!”
