Hatred of Zionists

On December 16, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “zio's cant read the tone of jokes now apparently either, arent u bored of having no culture? i'll take my embroidery, food, clothes, language and Israelis will be left with no culture LMAOOOO [Laughing My A** OOOOFF] isn't that funny how bad u guys wanna be us.”

The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.

On December 16, 2021, Gharbiyeh also tweeted: “...Zio's are brainless mush.”

On August 27, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “i'm never nice to zio's.”

On August 21, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted a meme with text that said: “START ZIONIST SHAMING.”

The meme featured a photo of a boy hiding his face as others pointed accusatory fingers at him.

Text accompanying the meme read: “START ZIONIST SHAMING” alongside other text that said: “ZIONISTS HAVE NO CULTURE,” “racist!,” “COLONIZER!,” “how are you sunburnt if you’re indigenous?,” “chocolate hummus looking a**,” “steal anyone’s land today?” and “GO BACK TO BROOKLYN.”

On December 11, 2020, the same meme was posted by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) to their Instagram page.

On July 21, 2021, in an argument with a pro-Israel Twitter user, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “...In typical zionist fashion of course. Colonialism is a disease and i hope u die xoxo.”

Promoting Incitement

On July 26, 2021, in the wake of Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “...last time i checked israel was the one who killed 255 people in an open air prison [of Gaza] after they ‘finished’ raiding Al Aqsa Mosque during the most holy month [of Ramadan] even after repeatedly being told to stop.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

The escalation was triggered by violent clashes that broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al Aqsa compound, following claims the Al Aqsa mosque was in danger.

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state.

Supporting Terrorists

Gharbiyeh retweeted a September 10, 2021 tweet that read: “Two of the six escaped Palestinian political prisoners have been captured by the Israeli regime in Nazareth. May their bodies and hearts remain strong for what is about to befall them.”

On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in northern Israel. Following a 10-day manhunt, all the escaped prisoners were recaptured and imprisoned by Israeli authorities.

The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of Fatah, the main group in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

They were convicted and sentenced for their involvement in terror attacks carried out during the second intifada, which was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.

Gharbiyeh retweeted another September 10, 2021 tweet that read: “Sadly, two of the prisoners who freed themselves were caught by the Zionist police just now…the heart aches.”

Demonizing Israel

On December 16, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “palestinian culture isn't israeli no matter how
bad u guys want to steal it🥰🥰.”

On July 21, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “i look down and spit on the state of israel😍.”

On June 14, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “Ya the iron dome is bad cuz yall get to be comfy af [as f**k] while u genocide palestinians in an open air prison that you dont let them out of😍😍😍.”

The Iron Dome is an Israeli missile defense system designed to intercept and destroy rockets and artillery shells. During Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, the Iron Dome intercepted hundreds of rockets that were launched from Gaza at major population centers in Israel by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

On May 19, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “Israel doesnt have the right to exist. States don't have a ‘right to exist’. Only people do.Stop playing into their s**t.”

On the same day, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “Boy stfu [shut the f**k up]. Israel has been terrorizing my country since 1948 and Hamas has only been around since 1990. Yall are such genocide enablers.”

On May 19, 2021, Gharbiyeh also tweeted: “Even though we let them in to live with us when no one would. Instead they steal our land, homes, culture, city names, history all while blockading many of us in Gaza and carrying out a genocide. You're lucky we want a one state solution.”

Gharbiyeh’s tweet echoed U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s 2019 claim that Palestinians saved Holocaust survivors. The claim was denounced by politicians and described by leading historian Benny Morris as “completely ignorant” or a lie.

Rather the British issued a “White Paper,” that severely limited Jewish immigration to Mandatory Palestine between 1939 and 1945, in response to Arab opposition to and riotsagainst Jewish immigration.

On May 17, 2021, during Israel’s OGW, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “...Israel is ethnically cleansing my people and i will not be silenced with peace and love. STOP KILLING MY PEOPLE!”

Solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh

In December 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted in support of Mashayekh who was [00:11:08] in the middle of a national controversy over anti-Semitism she spread on social media that year.

In October 2021, Mashayekh was listed as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator for USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering (Viterbi). In May 2021, she tweeted: “I want to f**king kill every motherf**king Zionist.” She also tweeted: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews]😌.”

Mashayekh has also spread violent hatred of Israeli Jews, called for the destruction of Israel and America, expressed support for Hamas and glorified terrorists.

Mashayekh was condemned after Canary Mission exposed her anti-Semitic tweets.

On November 26, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “death to Israel the country f**k yes that makes me horny.”

Gharbiyeh’s tweet was responding to a tweet by Canary Mission that featured a video exposing Mashayekh’s tweets, one of the tweets featured in the video read [00:00:06]: “Death to Israel.”

On December 5, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted abusive remarks along with Mashayekh to a Twitter user who criticized a thread of tweets by Mashayekh on November 28, 20021 alleging that “Zionists” had incorrectly translated several of her tweets that read: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews].”

Supporting BDS

On August 14, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted: “...We're boycotting Israel for their war crimes and crimes against humanity, not benefiting them.”

On July 30, 2021, Gharbiyeh tweeted to US politician Ilhan Omar: “Why did u vote yes to unconditional aid to Israel? If you're going to do this can you leave our cause and people alone you have done enough damage now.”

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
