Dominic Mitchell’s Participation in the Pro-Hamas Encampment at Columbia University (Columbia), Praise of Terrorists, and Anti-Semitism

Dominic Mitchell, Columbia University, Participation in the Pro-Hamas Encampment

Dominic Mitchell participated in the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia in May 2024. He has also praised terrorists, spread anti-Semitism, expressed support for violent protesters and glorified anti-Israel agitators. Mitchell has spread hatred of Israel as well as America, demonized Zionists, condemned the Birthright Jewish Heritage tour and pushed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

In 2017 and 2018, Mitchell was an activist with Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Northern Florida (UNF). Mitchell was also an activist with the Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network (JaxPSN).

In May 2019, Mitchell announced on Twitter that he’d been accepted to and would be attending Columbia University (Columbia) for graduate school, studying Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African studies, beginning in Fall 2019. In January 2019, Mitchell indicated on Twitter that he hoped to one day be a professor.

In February 2020, Mitchell’s Twitter bio said he was “doing grad school,” at Columbia University (Columbia). In November 2019, Mitchell indicated on Twitter that he planned to study in Amman, Jordan during the summer of 2020.

In April 2018, Mitchell tweeted that he graduated from UNF, where he reportedly studied Anthropology and Religious Studies.

In June 2018, Mitchell indicated that he was working at his parent’s restaurant.

Praising Terrorists

On June 6, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Then call me scum! Long live Hamas!”

Mitchell retweeted a March 14, 2019 tweet featuring a photo of Ghassan Kanafani.

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Anti-Semitism

On February 19, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “Imagine thinking I chose Judaism to be oppressed. Imagine being a white Jew and thinking you even have the range to begin to speak to me, a queer black/Mexican person, about oppression. White Jews are a joke.”

Also on February 19, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “Thanks. I’m glad you hopped on Beyoncé’s Internet to tell me what I already know. White Jews really can’t help but be racist and condescending.”

On February 18 2020, Mitchell responded to a Twitter user who expressed a desire for a two-state solution and tweeted: “Yes, you are a Nazi. You are in the final analysis no better than the people who murdered your family. Your politics is an affront to them and all who suffered. You through your Zionism have aligned yourself with the people who build gas chambers and enslave people. May you rot!”

Twitter later removed Mitchell’s tweet for violating its rules.

Also on February 18, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “There is no peace now for Palestinians but you’re fine with that because their suffering means less to you. But a Nazi is going to Nazi. I pray when you die your ancestors spit on your face & shame you for how you’re shaming them now. May they and HaShem (G-d) turn their backs to you.”

In the same conversation on February 18, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “And no, comparing Zionists to Nazis is fair. It’s an apt comparison made by more than enough informed and concerned individuals. Including a good number of Jews.”

Again on February 19, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “As it should be. Being a Zionist, like being a KKK member or a Nazi, should be universally seen as grounds to NOT vote for someone. Or have we, and by we I mean you, Ashley, & the rest of the Zionists, decided Palestinian lives don’t matter? No need to answer. I already know it.”

On June 7, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “White Jews STAY being the weakest link in the Jewish community.”

On May 7, 2019 Mitchell tweeted: “Claiming @elivalley’s work is antisemitic is absurd and insulting to him and every Jew like myself who shares his views on the real dangers that the Jewish community face. Zionists really have no shame. They will try to smear people like Eli while getting into bed with Nazis.”

Eli Valley has been condemned by former National Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Abraham Foxman for depicting “Jews and evangelical Christians...as blood-sucking monsters.”

Supporting Violent Protesters

On August 19, 2018 Mitchell tweeted: “Why do you think there are demonstrations? BECAUSE PALESTINIANS ARE BEING ETHNICALLY CLEANSED! Of course citizens of Tel Aviv aren’t boycotting—they are safe from gratuitous violence. Dear G-d you refuse to listen. Just say you don’t care and go on with your day.”

In May 2018, terror group Hamas instigated violent riots on the Israeli-Gaza border. Thousands of rioters attempted to breach Israel’s border fence, declaring their intention to harm Jews across the border under the pretext of “peaceful resistance.”

On July 17, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Dear G-d! Do Zionists not realize how ridiculous they look to the rest of the world? They literally are engaging in ethnic cleansing, but KITES are what’s supposed to mKe (sic) us sympathize with them??? What jokes.”

March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Participants also attempted to breach the border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire. Agitators also threw Molotov cocktails and firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks.

On June 17, 2018 Michell tweeted: “Once again Israel is brutalizing Gaza under the guise that it’s self-defense. But it’s never that. It’s always agression (sic). Israel is the occupier, the colonizer, and the aggressor. #FreeGaza 🇵🇸

Media reports confirmed [00:00:20] the March of Return protesters’ breaches and attempted breaches of Israel’s border fence, some by armed Palestinians. One Hamas leader declared [00:00:30]: “We will take down the border [with Israel] and we will tear out their hearts from their bodies.”

On May 14, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “This headline is trash. The emphasize on them being ‘rock-slinging Palestinians’ makes them look irrationally violent. Also what’s taking place aren’t ‘clashes’ but an assault by the IOF on Palestinian protestors.”

“IOF” stands for “Israeli Occupation Forces,” a derogatory name used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army, in place of the accepted “Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).”

Mitchell’s tweet was in response to a tweet by MSNBC which said: “BREAKING: Death toll rises to at least 37 as Israeli forces open fire on rock-slinging Palestinians during border clashes ahead of US Embassy opening in Jerusalem, Gaza Health Ministry says.”

Most of the Gazans who died between March 30 and April 6, 2018, were identified as terror operatives who were killed while carrying out terrorist attacks, rioting against IDF forces or attempting to breach the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

On March 30, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Passover, one of my fav holidays; a holiday rooted in remembering Jewish oppression, begins soon & right now Israel is brutally oppressing peaceful Palestinian protestors as they begin the #GreatReturnMarch. It’s heartbreaking & further proof Zionism is antithetical to Judaism.”

On March 30, 2018, about 30,000 Gazans approached Israel’s border fence to join in “Land Day Protests,” which were also called the “March of Return.” The march was organized and funded by Hamas as a campaign of violent protests to spotlight the “right of return,” a policy discredited as a means to eliminate Israel.

Glorifying Anti-Israel Agitators

On November 29, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “The Zionist lobby know their ideology is racist, exclusionary, and losing its hegemony. They know that if they allow for any honest criticisms of Zionism and Israel the floodgates will open. That’s why they are doubling down in framing @marclamonthill as an antisemite.”

In November 2018, Hill was fired from his contributor position at CNN (Cable News Network) after he gave an anti-Israel speech at the United Nations. He called [00:20:47] for a “free Palestine from the river to the sea,” a phrase associated with demands to dismantle the State of Israel. Hill also accused [00:16:19] Israel of “ethnic cleansing,” as well as [00:17:49] “white supremacy” and [00:17:56] “settler colonialism.”

On January 31, 2018, Mitchell tweeted a photo of himself holding a sign that said: “Happy Birthday Ahed! On her 17th birthday, we honor her spirit of resistance.” Mitchell captioned the photo: “I stand in solidarity with the brave and resilient freedom fighter Ahed Tamimi and all Palestinian political prisoners. We demand their freedom an end to the occupation.✊🏻🇵🇸#FreeAhedTamimi #FreePalestine. (Shoutout to @JaxPSN for making this flyer.).”

Ahed Tamimi has a long history of physically attacking Israeli soldiers. Tamimi is the daughter of Bassem Tamimi, who is known for exploiting young children as political props in staged confrontations with Israeli soldiers.

On March 8, 2019, in response to a tweet Meghan McCain that said: “.@IlhanMN retweeting trash like this is beneath a sitting member of Congress, as is her blatantly anti-Semitic rhetoric…”

Mitchell tweeted: “You’re just mad Ilhan refuses to accept the hagiography you and others produce about your dad [John McCain]. He was a racist piece of sh** and his death was a beautiful thing for so many people, myself included. May he be rotting in Hell, and may your racist a** join him in time.”

Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.Omar has demonized Israel and endorsed BDS. In July 2019, Omar introduced a pro-BDS resolution in the U.S. Congress, which she described as “an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support…the BDS movement.”

Opposing the Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

On December 5, 2017, Mitchell tweeted: “Jerusalem will never be the capital of Israel... #FreePalestine.”

On December 21, 2017, Mitchell tweeted about the U.S. government’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and move it’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and said: “...C) F**k the United States and Israel.”

On May 15, 2019, Mitchell responded to a tweet celebrating the first anniversary of the US Embassy’s move to “Jerusalem...Israel’s capital" and tweeted: “Disgusting. Lighting up the walls of the Old City with the flags of Amerikkka and Israel is a desecration of the Old City. One day both those flags and the settler societies they represent will be a thing of the past.”

Hatred of Israel

On February 18, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “Anti-Zionism for Jews should be understood an act of tikkun olam—an embodiment of the Jewish ethical tradition. A way for us to reject the ethnonationalist ideology that resulted in not only the Nakba, but in the sins committed against the Canaanites and others post-Sinai.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”

On February 11, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “The way people constantly retract support for Palestine the minute there’s any heat is completely and utterly pathetic. I’m on the Death to Israel train until the end.”

On November 8, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Maybe Danny Ayalon is right. Or maybe just maybe more & more of us Jews in America are realizing that Israel is a racist settler colonial state engaging in a slow genocide, & that Zionism isn’t good for us Jews either. I’m no expert, but I’m going to go with the latter thinking.”

On June 23, 2019, Mitchell tweeted that he wanted “Israel and Amerikka” to be “demolished.”

On May 4, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “Israel bombing Gaza, again, right after Yom HaShoah says everything about Israel/Zionism. Clearly the two-minute standstill across Israel was nothing more than a performative act. You can’t have internalized the horrors of the Holocaust & mean ‘Never Again’ and support Zionism.”

Also on May 4, 2019 Mitchell tweeted: “Another Shabbat has ended and one of the first things I see on here is that Israel is bombing Gaza, again. Israel can try to conflate itself with Judaism all it wants, but Zionism & the Judaism I practice & love have nothing in common. Helping to dismantle Zionism is a moral act.”

On March 5, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “I cannot with people who say ‘the Israel/Palestine “““conflict””” is a tough topic to grasp’. It’s actually not. It’s profoundly simple. It’s an issue of settler colonialism, ethic cleansing, and apartheid. Talking about it likes it complicated does a disservice to Palestinians.”

On January 19, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. Settler colonial states don’t have a right to exist. Period. And no, the Israeli settlers are not native to the land. I wish she’d have flat out said that. More of us anti-Zionist allies need to get comfortable asserting that.”

On August 31, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Ummmm…Israel is LITERALLY an ethnonationalist state built on the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population. And Israelis talk about Palestinians as a demographic threat constantly. But yeah…definitely not racist.”

On August 19, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “ALL OF ISRAELI SOCIETY IS BUILT ON THE RUINS OF PALESTINIAN SOCIETY. It’s obvious you don’t know anything about what’s taking place, but I do. So instead of being an ignorant stan why don’t you learn about the Nakba, BDS, and maybe you’ll change your tune.”

On August 9, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Israel is not a ‘melting pot of all different cultures’. It’s a genocidal settler-colonial state that places Ashkenazi Jews at the top of its racist hierarchy. Only a fool would think the surface level embrace of Arab/MENA culture is anything more than an attempt at legitimacy.”

On July 12, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “If you don’t like it, f**king leave Palestine. The idea that Muslim Palestinians should curtail their religious practices for you/anyone is absurd. Also, you human trash, those aren’t ‘Jewish flags’, those are Zionist flags. Don’t conflate Judaism with Zionism, you antisemite.”

On May 25, 2018, Mitchell, in response to a tweet about Hamas’ use of children as human shields during conflict, tweeted: “This is disgusting propaganda. Palestinian children don’t need to be saved from Hamas, they need to be saved from IOF murders and the Zionist settler colonial state oppressing them. But go off…”

On December 21, 2017, Mitchell tweeted: “Me in 2015: Israel is really problematic but it can be reformed. I support the two-state solution. Me in 2017: Israel is an illegitimate settler colonial state founded on ethnic cleansing. F**k Zionism. Palestine, from the river to the sea, will be free in our lifetime.”

On June 13, 2017, Mitchell tweeted: “Zionism and Israel are s**t. F**k that ideology and that apartheid state, every day of the week. That will never change for me!”

On June 1, 2017, Mitchell tweeted about Israeli actress Gal Gadot and said: “The lead actress is an unrepentant Zionist who served in the IDF and is proud of her terroristic service. That's all you need to know.”

On July 26, 2016, Mitchell tweeted: “I actually think it's much deeper than that. In fact, I'd argue there are a significant number of politicians who only back Israel out of fear of AIPAC & other similar groups...I highly recommend reading ‘The Israel Lobby and Foreign Policy’ by Mearsheimer and Walt.”

Authors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt's 2007 book, "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy," invokes the conspiracy theory of Israeli and Jewish control over the U.S. government. Proponents of the theory decry the negative effects on American interests, particularly in foreign policy.

On July 30, 2015, Mitchell tweeted: “Bibi Netanyahu is a war criminal. Israel needs to do better. The world can no longer stand by and watch them kill innocent Palestinians.”

Hatred of America

On May 14, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “...‘I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.’ I pray G-d does that to Amerikkka.”

On August 2, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “They can come get me! I’m going to keep saying it with my chest…I HATE AMERIKKKA!!!”

On July 4, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “F**k the United States of Amerikkka!”

On January 15, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “It’s #MLKDay, so I just want to say f**k Amerikkka, f**k capitalism, and f**k imperialism! ✊🏻

On September 14, 2017, Mitchell tweeted: “Personally, no. I'm committed to bringing the empire (Amerikkka is definitely an empire) down and staying here makes more sense for that.”

On June 21, 2017, Mitchell tweeted: “I hate White Amerikkka. Honestly, f**k y'all.”

On July 5, 2016, Mitchell tweeted: “F**k the police. F**k Whitness/White supremacy. F**k Amerikkka. And especially f**k any & everyone who sees this and gets in their feelings.”

Anti-Israel Activism

Mitchell was featured in a photo in an April 11, 2018 article from FightBack! News publicizing UNF’s Israel Apartheid Week (IAW) and their first event of the week, “a vigil to honor Palestinian martyrs killed by Israel.”

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is presented internationally as a “series of events that seeks to raise awareness of…Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people.” One of its goals is to build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. IAW has been renamed Palestine Awareness Week.

Mitchell is holding a sign that says: “There is only one solution, Intifada Revolution!”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.

Mitchell was featured in a photo on Facebook from an April 11, 2018 event hosted by SJP and JaxPSN, as part of IAW. The event’s Facebook description said it would be an “informal discussion of topics ranging from the Nakba, BDS, Ahed Tamimi, Zionism, etc.” Attendees held signs that said: “We Will Return.”

Mitchell was featured in a photo posted on April 11, 2018, to Facebook by JaxPSN kneeling in front of a mock “Apartheid Wall” on campus. The wall, meant to represent Israel’s security barrier, had a panel that said: “From the River to the Sea.”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.

Demonization of Zionists

On February 17, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “Zionist Jews are not my kin. F**k them and their genocide supporting a**es. And yes, I mean your grandparents if it applies. My kin are anti-Zionist Jews and Palestinians.”

Also on February 17, 2020, Mitchell responded to a tweet about anti-Israel activists who tried to shut down a speech on anti-Semitism given by renowned Holocaust educator Deborah Lipstadt at the University of California at Berkeley.

That same day, Mitchell also tweeted pictures of anti-Israel agitators at Lipstat’s at the UC - Berkeley talk, with the comment: “I’m glad they shut your disingenuousness, intellectually feeble a** down. F**k you and your Zionist politics. Expect this everywhere you go to speak. You and the rest of the genocide supporting Zionists.”

On January 29, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “Rabbi Heschel in a telegram to JFK said ‘We forfeit right to worship G-d as long as we continue to humiliate Negroes.’I’m not sure who he meant by we, but I say the same to my fellow Jews wrt to Palestine. Zionist Jews (& all Zionists) forfeit the right to worship G-d.”

On January 28, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “The issue in Palestine is one where a group of settlers, Zionist Jews from around the world, came & established by force, their own racist, for Jews only, society on top of the pluralistic Palestinian society. There’s a term for this: settler colonialism. Not using it is violent.”

On January 24, 2020, following a series of attacks against Jews in North America Mitchell responded to a tweet that urged Diaspora Jews to take a lesson from Israeli Jews and to harden Jewish targets and train in self defense.

Mitchell wrote: “Ah yes, the antisemitic trope about weak (and effeminate) diaspora Jews. How Zionists love blaming Jews for the antisemitism we face.”

On December 27, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “‘There are only two kinds of Jews: serious Jews and non-serious Jews.’ -Rabbi Harold Kushner
I really like this quote. I would argue that unless one is an anti-Zionist Jew, they aren’t a serious Jew.”

On November 14, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “That’s what Zionism is doing to the Jewish people. It’s working to make us into a people who can by virtue of our being decide, dominate, subjugate, pillage, rape, etc. with no accountability to anyone.”

On November 21, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “To Zionists: Zoln dayne beyner zikh brekhn azoy oft vi di Aseres-Hadibres. (May your bones be broken as often as the Ten Commandments.) I mean this from the bottom of my heart and will never feel bad for feeling this way. F**k Zionism!”

On November 21, 2019, Mitchell tweeted: “How are y’all comfortable supporting Bernie when he says s**t like this??? He’s a PROUD Zionist. He supports an ideology of ethnic cleansing, incremental genocide, and colonization! It’s disgusting to see y’all stan his cracker a**.”

On February 18, 2020, Mitchell tweeted: “It seems I’ve upset some Zionist scum.”

On November 24, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Israelite ≠ Israeli. Despite what Zionists claim, the state of Israel is not a fulfilling of any Biblical prophecy, nor is it a continuum of the Kingdom of Israel. Zionism is settler colonialism using Judaism as a means to justify the crimes it’s committing against Palestinians.”

On June 13, 2018 Mitchell tweeted: “My new response to Zionists: Zoln dayne beyner zikh brekhn azoy oft vi di Aseres-Hadibres. (May your bones be broken as often as the Ten Commandments.)”

On May 15, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “F**k him and all the Zionists who do this s**t. Israel isn’t a continuation of the ancient Israelite kingdoms. It’s an illegitimate settler colonial state that isn’t even ‘kosher’. Have any of these Zionists even read the Bible? Check out Isaiah 11:12 and then shut the f**k up.”

On May 14, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “You can’t claim to support freedom and human rights and be a supporter of Israel and Zionism. By its very nature, Zionism, an ethnicnationalist ideology, is antithetical to those ideals. Zionism is ethnic cleansing and genocide.”

On April 9, 2018 Mitchell tweeted: “If you’re a Zionist unfollow me and then do the world a favor and catch on fire.”

On January 21, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “🚨🚨🚨 YOU CAN’T BE A ZIONIST AND A FEMINIST! 🚨🚨🚨.”

Condemning Jewish Heritage Tour

On June 21, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Supporting and/or going on Birthright trips is not how you show solidarity to Palestinians. Y’all need to do better as an organization. The idea that y’all think some potentially critical tweets while on a racist propaganda trip makes going okay speaks volumes about INN.”

Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

On July 17, 2018, Mitchell tweeted in response to someone who was raising funds for INN activists who walked off of Birthright and had their tickets canceled.

Mitchell wrote: “They shouldn’t have gone on the trip to begin with. In doing so they further legitimized a racist propaganda trip, broke BDS, and in the end they are getting more attention than the people they claim to be doing this for—Palestinians. But that’s liberal Zionism for you.”

On July 16, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “It’s also a glorified propaganda trip. How can you claim to support Palestinians and go on a trip funded in part by racist, anti-Palestinian individuals like Sheldon Adelson? Not to mention that you can’t go on a Birthright trip and support/adhere to BDS.”

Pushing BDS

On November 2, 2018 Mitchell tweeted: “.@SenBooker Supporting unconstitutional Gag Bill (so called “Israel anti-Boycott Act”) is a mistake. Advocacy for Palestinian human rights is not anti-Semitic. Please don’t use our grief to criminalize support for Palestinian rights.”

The Israel Anti-Boycott Act (S.720/H.R. 1697) declared that U.S. policy opposed a March 24, 2016 UN Human Rights Council Resolution which called to boycott and divest from Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

On August 19, 2018, Mitchell tweeted about singer Lana Del Rey’s decision to perform in Israel: “Performing in Tel Aviv is a political statement. Israel is a settler colonial state committing an ongoing genocide on the indigenous population of Palestine. By going there despite the international call for BDS, you are affirming that Palestinian lives don’t matter.”

That same day, also about Lana Del Rey, Mitchell tweeted: “She is normalizing what is going on. It’s a slap in the face to Palestinians and shows the Israeli government they can continue to kill Palestinians carte blanche. BDS works. It worked with South Africa and it is and will work with Israel. She’s on the wrong side of history.”

Also on August 19, 2018, Mitchell tweeted: “Oy vey! Yes, you boycott the entire society. Economic, academic, and cultural. You turn the apartheid state into a pariah state. That’s how they work. You do realize music festivals impact a place’s economy, right? Having them brings in money and tourism.”

Lana Del Rey canceled her scheduled September 2018 concert in Israel due to pressure from the BDS movement.

On June 21, 2017 Mitchell tweeted: “I'm going to by my uni's SJP president for the next two semesters and I am going to work my a** off to get UNF to support BDS.”

On December 19, 2015 Mitchell tweeted: “I support the recent academic boycott of Israel by the 200 S. Afr. academics. It's tough, but still fair to pro-peace Israeli academics.”

Participation in the Pro-Hamas Encampment at Columbia

Mitchell was featured [00:23:01] in a May 3, 2024, YouTube video that showed him participating in the Columbia encampment on April 24, 2024. In the video, Mitchell can be seen wearing a keffiyeh.

On April 17, 2024, Columbia students and anti-Israel activists set up a pro-Hamas encampment on campus to protest Israel’s war against Hamas and promote BDS. The encampment was forcibly dismantled and approximately 80 Columbia students were arrested.

new Columbia encampment was erected, during which participants forced their way into the university’s Hamilton Hall, vandalizing [00:00:55] and destroying university property. They barricaded themselves in the building, taking three Columbia custodians hostage. An NYPD raid on the building found knives, gas masks, ropes and literature that read: “...DESTROY zionist business interests everywhere!...DEATH TO AMERICA!...”

The encampment was also in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Columbia is located in New York, New York.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.

“My new response to Zionists: Zoln dayne beyner zikh brekhn azoy oft vi di Aseres-Hadibres. (May your bones be broken as often as the Ten Commandments.)”
“Zionist Jews (& all Zionists) forfeit the right to worship G-d.”
“F**k him and all the Zionists who do this s**t. Israel isn’t a continuation of the ancient Israelite kingdoms. It’s an illegitimate settler colonial state that isn’t even ‘kosher’. “
“You can’t claim to support freedom and human rights and be a supporter of Israel and Zionism. By its very nature, Zionism, an ethnicnationalist ideology, is antithetical to those ideals. Zionism is ethnic cleansing and genocide.”
“Me in 2015: Israel is really problematic but it can be reformed. I support the two-state solution. Me in 2017: Israel is an illegitimate settler colonial state founded on ethnic cleansing. F**k Zionism. Palestine, from the river to the sea, will be free in our lifetime.”
“Personally, no. I'm committed to bringing the empire (Amerikkka is definitely an empire) down and staying here makes more sense for that.”
