Dahlia Attoui

Overview

Dahlia Attoui [Dahlia Attoui Daher] mocked the death of Jews, spread incitement and endorsed violence. Attoui has promoted hatred of Israel and Zionists, demonized Israel and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Attoui also promoted a 2021 campaign by Students For Justice in Palestine (SJP) at the University of Illinois (UIC) to boycott Israeli academic institutions and the Jewish Metropolitan Fund of Chicago (JUF).

As of May 2021, Attoui’s LinkedIn said she worked as a “Graphic Designer and Multidisciplinary Artist - Freelancer” and that Attoui was based in Montreal, Canada.

Attoui’s LinkedIn also said she graduated from Collège LaSalle, Montréal in 2020 with a degree in Graphic Design. Also as of May 2021, Attoui’s Facebook said she studied “philosophie et science politique at Université de Montréal” [philosophy and political science at the University of Montreal] from September 2017 to January 2018.

As of May 2021, Attoui used the handle “shamiwhatever” and the screen name “#BidenEndTheBlockade #SaveSheikhJarrah” on Twitter. She also used the name “Dahlia AD” on Facebook.

Mocking the Death of Jews

On April 29, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “hope the bridge is okay ://” in response to a New Press (English) tweet that read: “A number of Israeli settlers were killed and wounded due to a bridge collapse in Galilee, north occupied Palestine. #NewPress_en.”

The New Press tweet referred to the 2021 Meron Stampede, 45 Jewish worshipers were crushed to death in a massive crowd surge at the annual Lag B’Omer festival. The Festival is held near the grave site of 2nd century Jewish sage, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, at Mount Meron in northern Israel.

More than 150 additional people were injured in the crush, which was described as one of Israel’s “deadliest peacetime tragedies.”

On April 30, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “...don’t expect my sympathy for settlers.” She then liked a tweet in response to hers that said: “The only sad thing is that it wasn’t us that killed those colonizers.”

Incitement

On May 10, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “#AlAqsaUnderAttack #AlAqsaMosque #Jerusalem.” Her tweet included another tweet that claimed: “While the occupation forces empties out a mosque that was built in 705 CE out of its Muslim worshippers, Israeli Jews ready themselves to invade it.”

The tweet included a video of Jewish worshippers praying at the Western Wall on Jerusalem Day, a holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem after the June 1967 Six-Day War.

The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state. Such propaganda served as the excuse for an upsurge in Palestinian violence that flared in the fall of 2015 and incited Palestinians to attempt mass casualty attacks on Israeli civilians in July 2016..

Endorsing Violence

During a period of Palestinian unrest and violence in Jerusalem, Attoui retweeted a May 4, 2021 tweet that said: “an organized resistance is the only answer, nothing else will ever free our homeland, the zionist pigs deserve nothing but the death and violence they’ve brought to us.”

On May 5, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “🧿🕯inshallah kheir ya rab [Allah willing it will be good]🕯🧿” referring to a tweet that said: “truly believe the 3rd intifida is upon us.”

Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.
On May 6, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “they’re terrorizing every single Palestinian in Sheikh Jarrah until the end. isr*elis are nothing more than the human form of pure evil. de*th to each and every settler…”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

Attoui retweeted a May 6, 2021 tweet that said: “ثورة حتى النصر [revolution until victory]” with a graphic of a Palestinian holding a rifle.

Attoui retweeted a May 8, 2021 twitter thread that said: “any and all palestinian resistance is necessary and acceptable. do not let people lie to you and call it unwarranted violence.”

Another tweet in the thread said: “there is no difference between a ‘peaceful and compliant’ palestinian and a ‘violent’ one because there is no peace without justice. palestine will be liberated by any means necessary.”

On May 10, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “we need to arm Palestinians.”

Attoui retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that said: “If you’re not for the COMPLETE DESTRUCTION of Israel, then you’re anti-Palestinian.”

On December 28, 2020, Attoui tweeted: “dropped a ‘oof shu hal akho manyouk’ [who is this a**-f**ked] during my ft [facetime] call with baba to which he replied ‘ya Dahlia!! 3eib!!! [shame]...’”

Attoui then tweeted: “told him it should be allowed when we talk abt isr*el when he lit rally cut me to say ‘mafi akhra min hadol l klab [there are no sh**tier than these dogs] i’d rather hear u say ‘manyouk’ [a**-f**ked] than thinking of them’ !!!!! ONCE AGAIN THE ONLY MAN WHO DESERVES RIGHTS!!!”

On May 1, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “i hate taking the metro in this city.” She replied to her own tweet: “two z*os are staring ....”

The term "Zio" is a common derogatory reference to Zionists, as well as an often-used anti-Semitic slur among white supremacists.

On April 23, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “my impact is my (non-Palestinian) best friend in Marseille texting me to lmk [let me know] he fought his first z*onist online to end up blocking them.”

Promoting SJP UIC’s Boycott of Jewish and Israeli Institutions

On March 16, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “If the UIC School of Public Health truly believed it’s mission statement of social justice and diversity, why would they work with Islamophobic, Zionist organizations like JUF? #CutTheTiesUICSPH @uicpublichealth.”

On the same date, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) UIC launched their #CutTheTiesUICSPH social media campaign on Instagram and Twitter.

An open letter from SJP UIC, dated February 10, 2021 [page 4], condemned the UIC School of Public Health (SPH) for allowing the Jewish United Fund of Chicago (JUF) to fund the SPH Israeli Visiting Scholars program and called on [page 1] UIC SPH to cut ties with Israel academic institutions.

SJP UIC’s campaign called for the UIC School of Public Health to cut ties with JUF and to object to future JUF-sponsored meetings. The campaign suggested such meetings were an affront to all of UIC’s Muslim students, with SJP UIC tweeting that JUF was “an Islamophobic group.”

The JUF, also known as the Jewish Metropolitan Fund of Chicago and the Jewish Federation of Chicago, serves as the central philanthropic address of Chicago's Jewish community.

Hatred of America

On February 27, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “d**th to amerikkka.”

On February 2, 2021, Attoui tweeted: “THIS!!! how about using the adequate terms to speak on what’s actually going on which are basically genocide, identity / cultural erasure, occupation, ongoing violence and oppression... instead ofsounding like zios pos [pieces of s**t] :-)”

Attoui’s tweet was in response to a tweet that said “calling the occupation of Palestine the ‘lsrael-Palestine conflict’ is at best liberal zionist terminology, what an intentional and heinous misrepresentation of colonisation.”
