Christian Tabash
Overview
Christian Tabash [Christian B. Tabash] led an anti-Israel demonstration, promoted a terrorist, demonized Israel, defended violent protesters and promoted anti-Israel agitators. He has demonized supporters of Israel, participated in anti-Israel activism and is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement.
As of November 2019, Tabash was a junior in Lowell House at Harvard University (Harvard) and a member of Harvard’s Undergraduate Council. He was reportedly studying “Government with a secondary in Economics.”
As of April, 2019, Tabash was reportedly “co-president of the Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC)” at Harvard.
Tabash was named a 2020 Summer Journalism Fellow by the Harvard Political Review.
As of August, 2017, Tabash was a member of the US Rowing Association and was “selected by USRowing to participate in the 2020 Under 23 Men's National Team Selection Camp.” He was also listed on Harvard’s “Heavyweight Rowing” team from his freshman through his senior year at Harvard.
As of March 2020, Tabash was reportedly a campus organizer with Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine.
On July 1, 2020, Tabash led a march at a “Day Of Rage” rally in Washington D.C., which sought to link the Palestinian cause to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. The event was held in tandem with a series of "Day of Rage" demonstrations against Israel's proposed annexation of the West Bank.
Tabash reportedly led protesters chanting: "Israel, we know you, you murder children, too!" and “Black Lives Matter; Palestinian Lives Matter!!”
Tabash also reportedly read a poem in front of the crowd that accused Israel of crimes against humanity. The poem, by Pola Fanous, was titled: "Mr. War" and addressed the Israeli government: "Cursed be the corrupters of Zion. F**k this occupation!" and later asked: “Oh David, why does your star rape our sky? Have you forgotten the underdogs?”
The poem also accused Israel of genocide: “Should I recite our hiss-tory of stolen generations? David drunk on subjugation, killed Goliath took his place, Why must you exterminate... my race?
The poem continued: “O’ Israel! O’ puppet-masters of continents! I learnt that power was perfect corruption, When Uncle Sam kissed King David’s feet at instruction!” echoing conspiracy theories claiming that Jews secretly control the world, particularly America.
The poem concluded with: “This oppression. It. Will. End! And in the last days it shall be [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu who cries: ‘Eli, Eli, lama Sabachthani?!’ (My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?!)” - words said to be spoken by Jesus Christ, while he was crucified.
While leading the march, Tabash reportedy stopped repeatedly to say that the Palestinian movement is "intrinsically tied to Black Lives Matter" and maintained "American capitalism" and the Israeli state were built on the same principle: repression of minorities.
On July 1, 2020, Tabash shared an invitation for the event on Instagram and wrote: “DC: be there. free Palestine.”
Tabash also shared the event on Facebook on June 30, 2020 and captioned it: “everyone in DC — the Days of Rage begins tomorrow. please share widely!”
On June 24, 2020, Tabash posted to Facebook an article from “Democracy Now,”titled: “Palestinian Scholar Noura Erakat: Israeli Forces Killed My Cousin on His Sister’s Wedding Day.”
Ahmad Erakat [Ahmad Moustafa Erekat] was killed by Israeli security forces after he accelerated and rammed his car into soldiers at a checkpoint. One female soldier was injured.
Tabash commented: “my heart is heavy and i don't know what to say that already hasn't been said. yet again an innocent Palestinian gets senselessly murdered and the world accepts the narrative put out by those who oppressed him and by those who carelessly and callously ended his life...inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return.
On July 16 2020, Tabash posted to Facebook a video from IEMU [Institute for Middle East Understanding] about Ahmad Erakat and wrote: “in an evil, yet unsurprising, act of collective punishment Israel continues to withhold the body of Ahmad Erakat from his family, who is mourning Amhad’s senseless killing on the day of his sister’s wedding.
Tabash continued: “not only does Israel engage in physical destruction and genocidal warfare onto the defenseless Palestinian people but psychological torture remains a staple weapon in their arsenal of criminality.”
On July 28, 2020, Tabash tweeted: “i have a two state solution joke but israel has made clear it doesnt exist.”
On July 4, 2020, Tabash posted on his Instagram story a cartoon by notorious antisemite Carlos Latuff. The cartoon depicted a woman sitting in a map of South Africa and saying: “We have already seen this..it’s called apartheid!” and reaching out to an old woman sitting in a map labeled: “Palestine,” with a sign pinned on it that read: “Jews Only.”
Carlos Latuff is a Brazilian political cartoonist who has equated Israel and America with Nazi Germany and promoted violence. In 2006, he won second prize at Iran’s “International Holocaust Cartoon Competition” for a cartoon that compared Israel’s security barrier to Nazi concentration camps.
On July 1, 2020, Tabash posted on his Instagram story a photo of his dog with the caption: “@benji_the_abolitionist_dog benji says no to: Israeli annexation Israeli occupation Israeli settler colonialism Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians…”
That same day, Tabash re-posted to his Instagram stories a photo of a Keffiyeh captioned: “Every day is a #dayofrage for Palestinians, @christiantabash.”
In an article published on June 3, 2020 in The Nation Press, Tabash was interviewed while attending Black Lives Matter rally outside the White House, where he invoked the anti-Israel organization Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP)’s “Deadly Exchange” campaign.
Tabash stated: "As a Palestinian man living in the United States, I'm outraged. I'm just standing here to bear witness, but at the same time we do have to understand that Black liberation is inseparable from Palestinian liberation because these police officers in front of us today, a lot of them go to Israel and get trained by the Israeli Defence Forces."
In 2017, JVP launched the “Deadly Exchange” (DX) campaign, accusing American Jewish organizations of promoting human rights abuses by coordinating exchange programs between American and Israeli security personnel to advance “worst practices" and racist policies. The campaign blamed [00:04:04] Jewish organizations for violence against Black and Brown communities, immigrants and activists in the U.S.
On January 1, 2020, Tabash posted on his Instagram story a photo of the book “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” by BDS leader Ilan Pappe and captioned it “cookie and i enjoying some fun holiday reading :)”
On November 17, 2019, Tabash tweeted: “some sketchy israeli officials whose jobs are to smear and suppress palestine activists started following me... i feel like that should come with some sort of award 🏅like “new level achieved: you frighten war criminals who now want you silenced” 🙂🙃.”
On October 27, 2019, Tabash tweeted an article from palinfo.com titled: “IOF opens fire at farmers in Gaza” and included a quote from anti-Israel journalist Gideon Levy which said: "[The Israeli military] is no longer distinguishable from a terror organization."
“IOF” means “Israeli Occupation Forces,” a term used by anti-Israel activists to demonize Israel’s army in place of its real name, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). "IOF" is used to allege that Israel’s existence is illegitimate by accusing Israeli Jews of illegitimately occupying the entire land.
On May 7, 2019, Tabash shared on his Instagram story a cartoon by Carlos Latuff. It depicted the world crying as Paris’ Church of Notre Dame burned, while ignoring an elderly Palestinian woman pointing to Israeli planes dropping bombs on Gaza.
On April 15, 2019, a structure fire broke out beneath the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Cathedral would be restored by 2024 and launched a fundraising campaign which brought in pledges of over €1 billion as of April 22, 2019.
On May 8, 2019, Tabash shared on his Instagram story another cartoon by Carlos Latuff. This one depicted a cameraman and news reporter focused on a small Palestinian rocket, while behind them Gaza was burning due to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli war planes.
In May, 2019, Palesti launched more than 450 rockets into Israeli civilian centers. In response, Israel killed Hamas commander, Hamed Ahmed Abed Khudri, in a targeted attack on his car in the Gaza strip.
On April 22, 2018, Tabash posted a photo on his Instagram story of a “Cheat Sheet” of chants to use at an anti-Israel event.
Chants on the sheet included: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free, “Long live the Intifada!” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, not another dime, no more funding Israel’s crimes!”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
Tabash co-wrote an article published on April 11, 2019 in the Harvard Crimson titled: “Humanizing Palestinians Should Not Be Controversial.”
In the article, Tabash claimed: “In 2018 alone, Israeli Defense Forces killed almost 200 Palestinians peacefully protesting to demand their right of return. A recent UN report called this massacre a potential war crime.”
On March 30, 2018, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached Israel’s border to take part in “Land Day Protests” or the “March of Return.” The violent demonstrations were instigated by Hamas on the Israeli-Gaza border. Participants declared their intention to harm Jews across the border under the pretext of “peaceful resistance.”
March participants sent scores of kites bearing explosive devices across Israel’s border to burn Israeli crops and homes. Rioters also made numerous attempts to breach Israel’s border fence, which caused the Israeli Defense Forces to respond with live fire.
Agitators also threw Molotov cocktails, firebombs, shot firearms and threw rocks under the cover of smoke from burning tires.
The violent riots continued until the end of 2018, accompanied by military-style attacks carried out by Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terrorist organizations. The attacks included gunfire, armed rioters penetrating Israeli territory, throwing IEDs and hand grenades and launching incendiary kites into Israel.
In the article, Tabash also accused Israel of “Apartheid” and insisted “Israeli policy makes clear that Israel fulfills the conditions of the crime of apartheid as defined by the ICC. Israel is an apartheid state, and we must recognize it as such.”
He concluded by insisting “If it were our Jewish brothers and sisters oppressed by Palestinians, we would be the first to hold a Palestinian Apartheid Week” and again compared Israel to “South African apartheid.”
Tabash declared: “We have been heartened by the support we received during Israeli Apartheid Week, and have hope that Harvard will choose change.”
Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is presented internationally as a “series of events that seeks to raise awareness of…Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people.” One of its goals is to build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. IAW has been renamed Palestine Awareness Week.
On May 7, 2019, Tabash posted to his Instagram stories a tweet from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. The tweet said: “How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends? The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable.”
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Gaza fired over 600 rockets at Israeli communities, from May 4-5, 2019. Four Israelis were killed and dozens more were injured.
In November 2019, Israel launched Operation Black Belt to stop rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel. From November 12 to November 14, 2019, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group sent hundreds of rockets into Israel, targeting major civilian population centers.
On December 12, 2019, Tabash posted a photo to his Instagram story of Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and the caption: “My hero #resist.”
Rashida Tlaib was elected to the U.S. Congress in November 2018. She has advocated for a one-state solution, endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and called for reduced foreign aid to Israel. In July 2019, Tlaib co-sponsored a pro-BDS bill in the U.S. Congress introduced by Rep. Ilhan Omar.
On August 21, 2019, Tabash tweeted: “The national conversation thats been sparked from @IsraeliPM's barring of duly elected US congresswomen @RashidaTlaib and @IlhanMN from entering Palestine & Israel fills me with an unspeakable amount of hope that maybe one day Palestinians will be treated like human beings.”
In August, 2019, Israel granted Congresswoman Tlaib permission to visit her grandmother in the West Bank, but Tlaib canceled her planned trip. Tlaib was initially denied entry due to her support for BDS.
Ilhan Omar was elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018. In February 2019, top Congressional leaders denounced Omar for tweeting anti-Semitic remarks.
On July 14, 2019,. Tabash tweeted: “I commend @IfNotNowOrg for their extraordinary grassroots work in holding every presidential candidate accountable with regard to the human rights crisis that is the Israeli occupation of Palestinians.”
Tabash’s tweet included a tweet from the anti-Israel organization IfNotNow (INN) that showed their members confronting then- presidential candidate Senator Cory Booker about his support for Israel.
IfNotNow (INN) is an organization that has demonized Israel and seeks to drive a wedge between American Jewry and Israel.
On July 28, 2020, Tabash tweeted: “the DNC [Democratic National Committee] just voted to double down on its long-held pro-Israeli apartheid stance. the DNC resoundingly rejected an amendment that called on conditional aid to Israel as it escalates its illegal annexation of the West Bank. the amendment would've also added the term "occupation".
On July 15, 2020, Tabash re-posted on Facebook, a post from “Ramzy,” based on a Mondoweiss article titled: “‘Cancel culture’ and the Israel lobby.”
The post from “Ramzy” stated: “If we want to identify the real masters of cancel culture, however, we need to follow the modus operandi of the institutional pro-Israel lobby and its adherents, like the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), B’nai Brith Canada (BBC), the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) and other organizations on the Jewish right. They can teach us a thing or two about how to kill free speech, and how cancel culture works to stop an utterance before it is even spoken.”
The author gave a purported “formula” that included having a number of Jewish organizations at work, use “guilt-by-association,” insist their tenure be denied, demand that their degrees be withheld and accuse people of antisemitism, even “absent real evidence.”
The author suggested Jewish organization seek to shut down all events they deem antisemitic, claim credit for their cancellations and frighten the organizers. He then accused Jewish organizations of trying to “scare the media outlet away from the topic” of Palestine.
On May 21, 2020, Tabash shared a screenshot from a policy page of 2020 U.S. presidential candidate and former Vice-President Joe Biden’s campaign and highlighted a sentence that showed his campaign’s rejection of BDS: “which too often veers into anti-Semitism and lets the Palestinians off the hook for their choices.”
Tabash tweeted: “No, Joe. Palestinians did not choose a 53 year-old belligerent occupation and 72+ years of dispossession, demolition, and statelessness. Quit lying.”
On November 29, 2019, Tabash tweeted: “tHe pRoGresSIVe cAsE fOr iSrAeL lmfao. mind you the lady behind this was the same z*on*st who was scolding me 4 boycotting an israeli war criminal bc i should enGagE iN diAlOgUe with this dude whose responsible 4 the forced eviction of thousands of palestinian from their homes.”
On November 17, 2019, Tabash shared a tweet from Harvard PCS, that named Jewish student Noah Feldman as the person who invited an Israeli ambassador to speak at Harvard.
Tabash tweeted: “this dude literally believes that he has some god-given right to destroy thousands of Palestinian homes bc Pals being stateless under an illegal & belligerent occupation is not enough. he wants Pals to be stateless AND homeless. boycott this fascist and all his criminal friends.”
On September 13, 2019, Tabash tweeted: “Why does Cory Booker invoke MLK Jr. while also owning the fact that he is the most pro-Israel candidate? MLK Jr. spoke the truth when it was least convenient. That means unapologetically acknowledging how Israel is engaging in US-sanctioned war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
In November 2019, while Tabash was PSC President,Harvard PSC reportedly circulated a pledge over housing and student group email lists, urging undergraduates to boycott Israel Trek, a free spring break trip to Israel and the West Bank.
The pledge claimed that the trek “whitewashes the human rights violations and crimes that Israel commits against Palestinians” and warned that “By going on this trip, you will be complicit in the whitewashing of these human rights violations against the Palestinians. You will be traveling to stolen land, listening to speakers who promote genocide.”
Also as PSC president, Tabash reportedly refused to comment on how many people signed the pledge.
On November 13, 2019, Tabash participated in a PCS walkout of a speech by Israeli Consul General in New York, Dani Dayan at Harvard Law School, where anti-Israel students packed the speaking venue and, as Dayan began to talk, then walked out holding signs that read: “Settlements Are A War Crime.”
On July 14, 2020, Tabash shared an event on Instagram, which was hosted by #DMVforPalestine. The event was called: “Drive in Education,” where the anti-Israel film by Sut Jalley titled: “The Occupation of the American Mind: Israel’s Public Relations War in the United States,” narrated by Roger Waters, would be screened.
Tabash commented: “come out this Friday for some education through discussion and film. topics will include overviewing the occupation of Palestine, the Israeli lobby in the USA and Black-Palestinian solidarity.”
On June 30, 2020, Tabash promoted on Facebook an event called: “All Out Against Annexation,” which was hosted [00:35:51] by Taher Herzallah of the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) and held in front of the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C. on July 3, 2020.
The event showcased anti-Israel agitators such as [00:25:50] Reverend Graylan Hagler, Miko Peled.[00:28:40] and [00:36:03] Osama Abuirshaid.
One speaker, from [00:05:25] FreedomFighters DC, which agitates to abolish the police, said: [00:09:14] “There is no need to talk about ‘peaceful coexistence. Anyone who calls for peaceful co-existence is calling for the status quo to remain the same. This week is not for peace, but for rage.” The speaker concluded with the slogan “From The River to the Sea,Palestine will be free.”
In his June 30, 2020 Facebook post Tabash urged: “all my folks in DC — hope to see you there this Friday! Palestine must be freed!!”
Tabash also shared the event on his Instagram story and wrote: “israel wants to steal more land so we wont let them have it easy.”
On November 10, 2017, Tabash shared information on Facebook regarding a PSC-sponsored screening of the anti-Israel documentary “Occupation 101.” The Facebook event listed Tabash as one of the hosts.
On January 29, 2020, Tabash posted a photo of his SJP chapter on Instagram and wrote: “Here’s my peace plan @realdonaldtrump : boycott Israeli apartheid. Excited for what this year has in store ☺️.”
On December 3, 2019, Tabash offered congratulations to Brown University BDS activists who successfully passed a BDS referendum by the student body at large and tweeted: “And the walls keep tumbling down. Congratulations to all organizers at @BrownDivest for their hard fought victory. This comes against a backdrop of unprecedented levels of repression against Palestine activists, yet serves as a reminder that truth and justice always prevail.”
On September 18, 2019, Tabash tweeted: “What are my thoughts about the Israeli election? Boycott Israel :)”
On July 26, 2019, Tabash shared on his Instagram story a cartoon by Carlos Latuff. The graphic depicted Israeli soldiers about to blow up “Palestine'' with dynamite, while laughing with each other as the world looks on and an old Palestinian woman with a cane cries next to them.
Tabash wrote: “Palestinian houses are being demolished as we speak ...and the U.S. House of Reps just voted to demonize the last nonviolent boycott to hold Israel accountable to its war crimes…”
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by pro-terror activist Omar Barghouti in 2005 to turn “Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.” Barghouti has also called for Israel's destruction and the BDS movement demands would result in that same goal.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been infiltrating university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments propose resolutions to boycott or divestment from Israel or Israeli-affiliated entities. BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents and pro-terror activism on campus.
