Candice Connell [Candice Deseré Connell] has spread hatred of Zionists, called for Israel’s destruction, promoted anti-Semitism and shown support for violence. She has also expressed hatred of America, glorified terrorists, spread incitement and demonized Israel.Connell is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In 2021, Connell expressed solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh, a graduate student at the University of Southern California (USC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator who tweeted her desire to “kill every motherf**king Zionist.”
Connell co-created the website Freelancers in Gaza, which was launched on July 25, 2021. The website connects freelance workers in Gaza with employment opportunities.
As of January 2022, Connell’s Instagram bio said she was a “Writer, Web/Content designer.”
As of December 2021, Connell used the handle “Visionairess” and screen name “𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒄𝒆 #SaveGaza #SaveSheikhJarrah” on Twitter and the handle “thevisionairess” on Instagram.
As of the same date, Connell used the alias “Candace Amani” on Facebook and Instagram.
As of January 2022, Connell was reportedly located in Madison Heights, Virginia.
Hatred of Zionists
On October 20, 2021, Connell tweeted: “zionists are the scum of the earth…”On September 10, 2021, Connell tweeted: “zionists are the most vile creatures living today. There is no defense for these murderers that continue to kill Palestinians on their own land. Down with the genocidal colonial state!!!”
On September 3, 2021, Connell tweeted: “All zionists and racists are going to the hottest parts of hell. May they get the judgment they deserve for all their evil.”
On August 24, 2021, Connell tweeted: “I really do pray that every zionist colonizer gets dealt with for what they do to Palestinians. Hell won’t be hot enough!”
On August 10, 2021, Connell tweeted: “ALL zion*sts are violent oppressors because they believe in the right for israel to exist. Which has caused the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their own land…”
On May 18, 2021, Connell tweeted: “all zionists are ugly evil people wow.”
Calling for Israel’s Destruction
On July 28, 2021, Connell tweeted: “The genocidal israel occupation continues to murder Palestinian men, women, and children without consequences. The zionist state must be abolished in our lifetimes…”On June 29, 2021, Connell tweeted: “There is not enough words to describe how evil the israel occupation is. I have hope that we will see the fall of that genocidal zionist entity in our lifetimes!”
On the same date, in response to another tweet that said: “Israel is an illegitimate terrorist rogue state that has no right to exist,”Connell tweeted: “Down with the zionist entity!”
On June 7, 2021, Connell tweeted: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. Every inch of land must be returned!...”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.
Promoting Anti-Semitism
On May 18, 2021, Connell tweeted: “it seems that’s how they [Zionists] think. It’s as if they feel like God has given them the ok to do these things because they think they’re the chosen ones.”Also, on May 18, 2021, Connell tweeted: “YOU are the one with no connection to the land… You all can solve the ‘conflict’ by getting off Palestinian land.”
Connell’s tweet was in response to a Jewish person’s tweet about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that said: “People with no connection to the land cannot understand how deep this goes for us…”
One way anti-Israel activists spread anti-Semitism is by denying [00:17:45] Jewish history, with the aim of delegitimizing restored Jewish sovereignty, attacking Israel’s legitimacy and portraying Jews as foreign to the Land of Israel.
Supporting Violence
On November 29, 2021, Connell tweeted: “...I fully support Palestinians right to resistance by any means necessary. May we all live to see a Free Palestine in our lifetimes!”On November 22, 2021, Connell tweeted: “You’re supposed to be an ally to Palestinians yet you’re calling their rightful resistance to colonizers on their land terrorism?? It’s time to go full mask off instead of pretending Ariel…”
Connell’s tweet referred to a tweet by Ariel Gold that said: “I’m horrified and saddened by the terror attack that took place in Jerusalem today, taking the life of one civilian…”
On November 21, 2021, Eliyahu David Kay, a 25-year-old Israeli civilian and tour guide,was killed by a Hamas gunman, Fadi Abu Shkhaidem, who opened fire near the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Kay was an immigrant from South Africa who had served in the Israeli army. One civilian and two policemen were also injured from the shooting.
Connell retweeted a September 28, 2021 tweet that said: “Today marks 21 years since the start of the Second Intifada. Glory to those who resisted and sacrificed. Glory to the martyrs, the women and men whose makeshift weapons confronted artilleries, the children whose stones intimidated tanks. The struggle continues, until liberation.”
The second intifada (2000-2005) was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.
On July 2, 2021, Connell tweeted: “If you support the Palestine cause then you should also support Palestinians and their right to resistance (in any form)!!”
On June 17, 2021, Connell tweeted: “Palestinians should be able to defend themselves against the violent Israeli occupation by any means!...”
Hatred of America
On July 5, 2021, Connell tweeted: “Stolen Land, Genocide, Slavery, Racism, Imperialism, the list goes on.” Connell’s tweet was in response to another tweet that said: “A question on #July4th - WHAT DOES THE AMERICAN FLAG SIGNIFY TO YOU?
”On May 6, 2021, Connell tweeted: “I don’t know how anyone can ever be proud to be from the US. Look at the violent genocide they’re funding against Palestinians. It’s evil any way you look at it.”
Glorifying Terrorists
On May 15, 2021, Connell tweeted: “How else is decolonization supposed to happen without armed resistance. This is how it’s done! #FreePalestine.”Connell’s tweet included a tweet that included a video of Keffiyeh-masked terrorists with assault rifles announcing their control over Nablus and text that said: “‘armed members of the al-aqsa martyrs brigades have taken control of nablus and declared that the zionist occupation forces are no longer allowed in the city.’”
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is the armed wing of Fatah, the main group in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The Brigade has been listed as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the U.S. State Department since March 2002 and was responsible for multiple suicide bombings [00:13:37] during the second intifada, in 2002-2004.
On September 18, 2021, Connell tweeted: “Israa [Jaabis] must be released and receive urgent medical treatment. The International community must continue to amplify the cases of Palestinian prisoners from the ongoing crimes of the zionist occupation. #SaveIsraa #FreeThemAll.”
In October 2015, during the “Knife Intifada,” Israa Jaabis attempted but failed to detonate a car bomb at a military checkpoint after yelling out “Allahu Akbar [God is Great].”
On December 10, 2021, Connell tweeted: “#FreeHisham, Hisham is on his 115th day of hunger strike, he is protesting the occupation’s collective punishment of
prisoners in wake of the heroic Gilboa prison escape. If you celebrated the prison escape, you ought to be showing solidarity to the hunger strikers.”On September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in northern Israel. Following a 10-day manhunt, all the escaped prisoners were recaptured and imprisoned by Israeli authorities.
The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of Fatah, the main group in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
They were convicted and sentenced for their involvement in terror attacks carried out during the second intifada, which was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.
Spreading Incitement
On July 29, 2021, Connell tweeted: “Over 100 settlers got to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under protection of the occupation forces!!! #SaveJerusalem.” Connell’s tweet included a tweet with a photo of Jewish visitors touring the Temple Mount compound.Palestinians and anti-Israel activists have historically described visits by Jews to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem as “incursions” during which Jews purportedly “storm” the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, with which they attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.
The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state.
On July 18, 2021, Connell tweeted: “There is no way you can defend the genocidal israel occupation and not be evil yourself. Look at how they attack Palestinians that just wanted to worship! #HandsOffAlAqsa #SaveAqsa …”
Connell’s tweet included a tweet that claimed: “Israeli occupation forces fire teargas and acoustic canisters at innocent worshipers inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound…”
On July 18, 2021, Palestinians fought against Israeli forces on the Temple Mount in protest against Jews visiting the compound. Jewish visitors were commemorating Tisha B’Av, a Jewish day of mourning marking the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. Hamas called on supporters to confront Israelis that day.
Demonizing Israel
On June 15, 2021, Connell tweeted: “The Israel occupation is a genocidal state. Their main mission is to ethnically cleanse Palestinians…”On June 11, 2021, Connell tweeted: “The violent Israeli occupation forces has been mass kidnapping and murdering Palestinian children…”
On May 16, 2021, during Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Connell tweeted: “100 airstrikes is NOT ‘self-defense’ it’s genocide. #GazaUnderAttack.”
In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
On May 6, 2021, Connell tweeted: “We’re witnessing violent ethnic cleansing that happens daily in Palestine and the world is silent. What more has to happen for people to care?! I wish there was more I could do

#SaveSheikhJarrah.”In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
Solidarity with Yasmeen Mashayekh
In December 2021, Connell tweeted in support of Mashayekh who was [00:11:08] in the middle of a national controversy over anti-Semitism she spread on social media that year.In October 2021, Mashayekh was listed as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Senator for USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering (Viterbi). In May 2021, she tweeted: “I want to f**king kill every motherf**king Zionist.” She also tweeted: “yel3an el yahood [curse the Jews]
.” Mashayekh has also spread violent hatred of Israeli Jews, called for the destruction of Israel and America, expressed support for Hamas and glorified terrorists.
Mashayekh was condemned after Canary Mission exposed her anti-Semitic tweets.
On December 3, 2021, Connell tweeted: “Take a little time out of your day and send this email in support of @intifadyas who has been facing anti-Palestinian racism. Cases like this are taken more seriously when alot of people are on board.”
Supporting BDS
On May 12, 2021, Connell tweeted: “One of the best ways to be in complete alliance with Palestinian people is to boycott companies/brands that support the Israel occupation.”Connell then tweeted graphics of Israeli products and companies to boycott.
On July 13, 2021, Connell tweeted: “As long as the israel occupation exists the cruelty against Palestinians never stops. We must continue to follow BDS and keep the pressure on our local representatives. Our tax money is funding genocide. This has to be a priority! #FreePalestine.”
On July 19, 2021, Connell tweeted about Ben & Jerry’s: “they still need to be boycotted until they stop working with israel completely…”
On July 19, 2021, ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s announced it would stop all product sales in “Occupied Palestinian Territory.” The BDS movement celebrated the decision, calling on the ice cream company to boycott the State of Israel in its entirety. However, company owner Unilever overrode the subsidiary’s decision after multiple US states decided to divest public funds from Unilever.
On August 17, 2021, Connell tweeted: “I called the one of the largest grocery stores back home, because I searched and found that they’re currently selling Sabra Hummus…”
On August 18, 2021, Connell tweeted that the store owners had told her they were “FULLY aware that Sabra Hummus is part owned by an Israeli company” and that they would not stop selling it.
