Ayah Shkoukani

Ayah Shkoukani celebrated the Hamas terrorism of October 7, 2023, when 1,200 Israeli Jews were murdered. She has also promoted incitement as an anti-Israel activist.

Shkoukani was reportedly vice president of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Wayne State University (SJP WSU). WSU is located in Detroit, Michigan.

In May 2021, Shkoukani graduated from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in arts. In December 2022, she commented on TikTok that she had majored in sociology and minored in medical humanities.

On October 6, 2022, Shkoukani posted on TikTok that she was studying to be a physician’s assistant.

Celebrating the Hamas Terrorism of October 7, 2023

As of June 5, 2024, Shkoukani’s TikTok username was an inverted red triangle, a symbol showing support for Hamas terrorism. Her username was “Ayah🍉🔻.”

The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It first appeared in propaganda videos produced by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during its terror attacks of October 7, 2023. The symbol was used by Hamas to signify one of their Israeli targets.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation. Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, over 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.

A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

Promoting Incitement

On May 15, 2021, Shkoukani posted on TikTok a video from an anti-Israel protest she attended in Dearborn, Michigan. She wrote: “Protest today in Dearborn! #freepalestine #savesheikhjarrah #alquds [#Jerusalem]…#gaza #protest.”

In May 2021, Palestinian violence erupted in anticipation of an Israel High Court ruling on eviction proceedings concerning over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

On May 17, 2021, Shkoukani posted about another day of protests in Dearborn with a video referencing [00:00:12] “Al-Aqsa.” She wrote: “#dearborn #palestine protest day 2! #freepalestine #savesheikhjarrah…#gaza…#protest.”

On May 7-10, 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound, following claims that Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The allegation that Jews “threaten” to destroy Al-Aqsa has been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews long before the existence of the modern Jewish state.

Incitement surrounding Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers from May 10 to 21, 2021. In response to rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel launched “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” striking military targets in the terrorist-controlled enclave.

Hatred of Israel

On March 1, 2021, while Shkoukani was vice president of SJP WSU, the chapter posted about its Palestine Awareness Week (PAW), scheduled for March 22-26, 2021. The post said events would be “discussing the realities of the zionist occupation and the ongoing nakba…” On the post, Shkoukani commented: “Yesss!!!! This is gonna be great 🤩🤩.”

The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.

The first PAW event addressed the “history of Israel’s illegal occupation on Palestine.”

Palestine Awareness Week (PAW) is a re-branding for American audiences of Israel Apartheid Week (IAW), originally presented as “an international series of events that seek to raise awareness of Israel’s settler-colonial project and apartheid system over the Palestinian people” and build support for the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
On May 11, 2021, during Israel’s OGW against Hamas and PIJ, the group posted on Instagram: “@keffiyehday End the Occupation. End the Ethnic Cleansing. We will not leave ✊🏽🇵🇸.”

On May 14, 2021, SJP WSU promoted a rally called: “Nakba 73 / Resistance Until Liberation.” The pro-terror activist group Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) held the rally on May 15, 2021.

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
