Anna Vawser [Anna Kate] participated in an anti-Israel march in Los Angeles, California, in March 2024. At the march, she held a sign shaped like a watermelon that had text calling for Israel's destruction.

The profilee's activism occurred during Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza, which Israel launched after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks when Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis, injured thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

After the Hamas terror attacks of October 7, 2023, the watermelon quickly gained popularity among activists as a symbol of support for "resistance" against Israel. The watermelon's colors match the colors of the Palestinian flag. It has been depicted in art, used at protests and posted as emojis.

As of August 2026, Anna Vawser’s Instagram said she was a photographer and was located in Los Angeles, California.

At the march, protesters repeatedly participated in chants calling for Israel's destruction, including [00:00:50]: "Free, free Palestine!"

“Free Palestine!” is a chant used to call for Israel's destruction, acting as a shorter version of "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!" It was shouted during multiple deadly attacks on pro-Israel activists in 2025 in America. It has been used to vandalize synagogues and other Jewish-owned property, and is described as a "battle cry for the death of Jews.”

They later joined in the Arabic chant [00:01:49]: "Min el mayeh lil mayeh, Falastin Arabiyeh [From the water to the water, Palestine is Arab]!" This is the Arabic version of the chant: "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free," which they also chanted [00:02:50].

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!” is a chant used to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.
