Anita Kuang
Overview
Anita Kuang is a medical student who justified Hamas terrorism and spread hatred of Israel during its war against Hamas in late 2023.The incidents occurred following a series of Hamas terror atrocities and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023.
The Hamas terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”
Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.
Justifying Hamas Terrorism and Spreading Hatred of Israel
On December 21, 2023, the Washington Free Beacon published a screenshot of an undated Instagram Stories post that Kuang posted during Israel’s war against Hamas. In Kuang’s undated Instagram Stories, she wrote: “what do you think happened during the haitian revolution? french revolution? the unfortunate REALITY of it all is that war and colonialism dehumanizes ALL that are involved and asking for Palestinians to be the ‘perfect victim’ is harmful, there has never been a state of colonial liberation without violence.”
Kuang concluded her Instagram Stories: “...when you are in extreme conditions such as apartheid / settler colonialism, there is little to nothing else and that’s the unfortunate reality.”
The same post that Kuang shared included a graphic with text that read: “Political Change always has and always will occur through violence. The only question is who the violence is being inflicted upon. What the privileged don't realize, is that by only supporting ‘non-violent resistance.’ they aren't wishing for nonviolence, they are asking us to inflict violence upon ourselves to gain sympathy.”
In a screenshot of the second slide from her undated Instagram Stories, Kuang wrote: “to try to say ‘there's violence on both sides’ is wack when it is an asymmetrical relationship to begin with where one side continually enacts systemic violence.”
Kuang’s Instagram Stories included a graphic with text posted by anti-Israel activist Ayesha Khan on October 10, 2023, that said: “Criticizing Palestinian armed resistance efforts while also criticizing Israel is not a more ‘nuanced’ stance, it is equating the colonized with the colonizer.”
Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.
Kuang signed an October 20, 2023 petition titled: “Joint Statement Calling for an End to the Siege and Bombardment of Gaza.” The petition claimed Israel was leading Gaza to “the precipice of a genocide” and “imminent ethnic cleansing.” The statement also accused Israel of “indiscriminate bombing” of Gaza and implied that included “the catastrophic destruction of al-Ahli Arab hospital.”
Israel and Egypt implemented a United Nations-approved [pp. 39–41] joint blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets.
On October 17, 2023, the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) fired rockets at Israel from Gaza, one of which misfired and fell on the parking lot of the al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital. Initial media reports blamed Israel. Following the incident, U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib immediately accused the Biden administration of funding Israel’s “genocide” of Palestinian people.
