Amin El-Maoued
Amin El-Maoued delivered supplies to the pro-Hamas encampment at UofT in May 2024. He has engaged in pro-terror and anti-Israel activism as the president of the anti-Israel organization Palestine House-Toronto.
El-Maoued delivered supplies to other pro-Hamas encampments in Canada in May 2024. He also participated in anti-Israel rallies in October and November 2023, as well as May and August 2024.
On May 4, 2024, El-Maoued wrote an Arabic post on Facebook where he said that he worked to bring “covers, tents and logistics” to the UofT encampment.
He said that he worked with multiple anti-Israel groups, including Toronto for Palestine and the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), to deliver supplies. He also wrote that “we continue to provide this non-stop support to all universities…”
On May 19, 2024, El-Maoued posted a video on Facebook of himself [00:02:24] at the encampment at UofT, where he was speaking with an interviewer in Arabic.
The UofT encampment was in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. UofT is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

On May 2, 2024, activists from the UofT Occupy for Palestine (Occupy UofT) group “stormed down” [00:00:24] the fencing around UofT’s Kings College Circle and set up a pro-Hamas encampment, which they called the “People’s Circle for Palestine.”
That day, Occupy UofT called on “community members to…help us defend our encampment” at an emergency rally in the evening. Protesters chanted [00:02:59] for “intifada” and celebrated “resistance” [00:02:45]. Both terms are calls for terrorism. The activists also chanted [00:01:28; 00:02:21] for Israel’s destruction multiple times.
One speaker, Nabil Jalbout, said [00:09:02]: “...we are not fighting for peace, we are fighting for liberation, because ‘peace’ is a white man's word.” Another speaker, Ahmad Jarrar Hajahmad, claimed [00:05:52]: “All these Israeli and Zionist entities fill all these politicians with money in their pockets…we already know who runs this system…”
Signs displayed at the encampment said: “LONG LIVE THE INTIFADA” and “LIBERATION FOR ALL REQUIRES RESISTANCE FROM ALL.”
On May 4, 2024, anti-Israel protesters at the encampment assaulted a Jewish man, punching him in the stomach as they forcibly took his Israeli flag. The attackers told the man [00:01:02]: “God bless the armed resistance,” and: “Go back to Europe!” They also reportedly called him “a “dirty Jew.”
Protesters “occupied” [00:00:17] the area from May to July 2024, despite UofT’s warning they were trespassing. The group said they would not leave until UofT divested from companies that “sustain Israeli apartheid, occupation and illegal settlement of Palestine” and terminated partnerships with Israeli academic institutions.
Following the October 7, 2023 massacre of nearly 1,200 Israelis, the inverted red triangle - 🔻- became a Hamas symbol. This symbol appeared on large signs at the encampment multiple times. Erin Mackey, one of the primary organizers, is openly pro-Hamas, having used the symbol in her activism. In addition, pro-Hamas marches that began in other parts of the city concluded at the encampment.
On July 3, 2024, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued an injunction at the request of UofT’s Governing Council, requiring students to clear the encampment. Occupy UofT dismantled the encampment and wrote [slides 5-6]: “We are just getting started…come fall, every incoming student will hear our message loud and clear…Whatever institution you have access to and influence over - you need to take this campaign there!” The statement concluded: “Long live the intifada.”
The encampment was one of over 140 pro-Hamas and anti-Israel college encampments set up in North America, and over 20 more globally, in the spring of 2024. The first began on April 17, 2024, at Columbia University. The encampments were unofficially known as the “student intifada,” borrowing a term associated with terrorist violence.
Protesters harassed Jewish students, blocked Jews from campus facilities and shouted anti-Semitic slogans. They occupied campus grounds, in many cases illegally, caused property damage, violently took over buildings, celebrated terrorism and promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Activists set up encampments to oppose Israel’s right to wage war against the Hamas terror group following October 7, 2023, when Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 people, including 32 American and 8 Canadian citizens. Hamas also kidnapped 252 people, including 11 Americans and the bodies of 2 murdered Canadians. As of May 26, 2024, 125 hostages remained in Hamas captivity.

On August 3, 2024, El-Maoued posted on Facebook a video of himself participating in an anti-Israel rally speaking in Arabic in front of marchers. In the video, protesters at the front of the march held a sign that featured a large inverted red triangle.
The inverted red triangle is a symbol showing support for Hamas and Palestinian terrorism. It first appeared in propaganda videos produced by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, during its terror attacks of October 7, 2023. The symbol was used by Hamas to signify one of their Israeli targets.
The text in the post was in Arabic and it translated as: “Protest in Toronto / Canada…300 days since the genocidal war against our Palestinian people in Gaza…We will continue our national struggle until the occupation is defeated. Our Palestinian land.”
On May 11, 2024, El-Maoued was featured in a Facebook post participating in an anti-Israel rally in downtown Toronto.
The post included a video from the rally, in which protesters chanted [00:00:50]: “Viva Viva Intifada!” and [00:01:00]: “There is only one solution! Intifada, revolution!” They also chanted [00:01:35]: “Long Live the Intifada!”
The term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” carries the connotation of violence. Palestinian intifadas waged against Israel have been marked since 1987 by hundreds of hijackings, shootings, stabbings, bombings and suicide missions.
On May 11, 2024, El-Maoued was featured [slide 19] in an Instagram photo participating in an anti-Israel rally. The photo was captioned: “🍉🗝️UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO 76 YEARS OF NAKBA🗝️🍉
SATURDAY, MAY -11 -2024.” The key emoji is in reference to a policy known as the “right of return.”
The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by drawing a comparison to the Holocaust, known in Hebrew as the Shoah, meaning “catastrophe.”
The “right of return” is a Palestinian demand discredited as a means to eliminate Israel. International law mandates no absolute right of return and UN Resolution 194, which defined principles for “refugees wishing to return to their homes,” was unanimously rejected by Arab nations following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
On November 12, 2023, El-Maoued posted on Facebook: “A massive demonstration in Toronto in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against the genocide war for the sake of our Palestinian people and the 37 days of war on Gaza.”
The post included photos and videos of the protest. One protester held a sign that said: “There is only one solution INTIFADA REVOLUTION.”
On October 9, 2023, El-Maoued posted on Facebook: “A strong demonstration roams the streets of Toronto against the aggression on Gaza and support for our struggling Palestinian people.” The post included photos of El-Maoued at the demonstration.
On May 10, 2024, El-Maoued wrote an Arabic post on Facebook that translated: “For the seventh day in a row, from university to university, Canadian students have used there [sic] voices to strengthen and empower the Palestinian movement. Students have been protesting in Canadian universities, from the University of Toronto to McGill in Montreal, McMaster in Hamilton, and Oshawa University. / Today we responded to the needs of activists in Oshawa University and delivered blankets, tents, tables, chairs, mattresses and logistical items….Gaza will be free, Free Palestine🌹✌️🙏.”

On July 22, 2017, El-Maoued led an anti-Israel rally organized by Palestine House in Mississauga, Ontario. Rally participants chanted [00:00:07]: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free!” is a chant used [00:02:52] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel.
The Canadian Jewish News reported that the earlier Palestine House organization’s “pattern of support for extremism” caused it to lose its federal funding in 2012.
