Aliya Khawaja

Overview

Aliya Khawaja is a public school employee and legal intern who has celebrated violence against Israelis. She also praised Hamas terrorism and called for Israel’s destruction in October 2023 and spread hatred of Zionism, Israel, Israelis and America.

Khawaja’s social media posts took place during Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists. Israel launched the war, called called “Swords of Iron,” after a series of Hamas terror attacks and war crimes against Israeli civilians, including mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings. The atrocities were executed on October 7, 2023, and left approximately 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded.

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization founded in 1987 that is dedicated to destroying Israel and killing Jews. Since 2001, Hamas has launched thousands of rockets at Israel and on October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 200 hostages, including children and the elderly.

Khawaja is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Khawaja was affiliated with a chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) in March 2022.

As of November 2024, Khawaja’s LinkedIn profile said she was an in-school suspension (ISS) supervisor at Harmony School of Innovation Katy (HSIKaty) in Houston, Texas.

On October 25, 2023, Khawaja posted on X that she dropped out of law school.

On November 28, 2023, Khawaja posted on X: “Never let a job get in the way of your organizing ♥️ (I’ve been leaving work early every day for like two weeks).”

As of November 2024, Khawaja’s second LinkedIn profile said she was a part-time legal intern at The Law Offices of Omar Khawaja, PLLC, since August 2021. The law firm’s company number is 0802121916 and it is based in Houston, Texas.

Celebrating Violence Against Israelis

On November 8, 2024, Khawaja posted on X, referring to the anti-Semitic pogroms in Amsterdam that occurred earlier that day: “Shoutout to the Amsterdam hooligan curb stomping 🇳🇱.”

On November 8, 2024, anti-Semitic rioters coordinated a violent attack on hundreds of Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Local police reported that at least five victims were hospitalized and more than 60 assailants were arrested.

Praising Hamas Terror and Calling for Israel’s Destruction

On October 7, 2023, the day of the unprecedented massacre of Israeli Jews by Hamas terrorists, Khawaja tweeted: “from the river to the sea ❤️‍🔥.”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” is a chant used [00:02:47] to call for the elimination of the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state. In April 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning the chant as antisemitic.

On October 9, 2023, Khawaja tweeted: “guys i think you need to stop engaging with bad faith arguments and obvious attempts to smear the undeniably righteous resistance of the palestinian people.”

Anti-Israel activists use the term “resistance” to refer to violence and terror perpetrated against Israeli civilians and their allies. It is used to glorify and encourage anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence. Anti-Israel activists chant slogans such as: “Resistance by any means necessary!” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied!” in response to terror attacks.

On October 12, 2023, Khawaja tweeted: “Unconditional support for the people of Palestine and their resistance...and unbelievable anger at spinelessness of everyone in this moment.”

On October 13, 2023, Khawaja tweeted: “Unconditional support for Palestinians resisting a brutal and unrelenting occupation — end the siege on Gaza and free Palestine, from the river to the sea. I cannot emphasize this enough but everyone needs to be mobilizing their communities for the liberation of Palestine.”

Israel and Egypt implemented a UN-approved [pp. 39–41] joint blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets. Hamas went around the blockade by smuggling weaponry through tunnels under the Philadelphi corridor separating Gaza from Egypt.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, approximately 2,900 heavily armed Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s border with Gaza. They executed numerous war crimes on civilians, including mass murder, beheadings of children, rape of men and women, torture, kidnappings and mutilation.

Hamas broadcast videos of their butchery on social media, often to victims’ accounts for families to see. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.” As of November 10, 2023, approximately 1,200 Israelis, the vast majority of them civilians, were murdered during the attacks. Hamas kidnapped 242 Israelis, including at least 30 children. At least 3,500 people were wounded, many severely.

A terrorist detained by Israel admitted he raped an Israeli woman when he broke into a kibbutz house during the October 7, 2023 attack. In March 2024, a former hostage of Hamas publicly stated she was sexually abused and tortured while in captivity.

Hatred of Zionism During an Israeli War Against Hamas

On January 3, 2024, Khawaja tweeted: “Zionism is a vile stain upon this earth that inflicts pain and suffering upon Arabs and Muslims everywhere and it must be eradicated 🙏🏼 hope this helps.”

Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to self-determination in their own national home, and the right to develop their national culture. Zionism is a core part of the identity of most Jews.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 other countries have adopted the definition as well.

Hatred of Israel, Israelis and America

On July 11, 2025, Khawaja posted on X: “Deleting hinge bc i saw an Israeli and got scared.”

On May 31, 2025, Khawaja posted on X: “We need to ban Israelis from every corner of this earth. Genocidal freaks shouldn't be around other humans.”

Also on May 31, 2025, Khawaja posted on X: “Nobody on earth likes Israelis 🤷‍♀️ Twitter can limit my post but that doesn't mean it isn't true.”

On March 18, 2025, Khawaja posted on X: “F**k Israel.”

On January 9, 2025, Khawaja posted on X referring to Israel: “The US needs to be tossed into the dustbin of history alongside the genocidal state they've been bankrolling for the past 75 years.”

The modern State of Israel was founded 76 years earlier, in 1948.

SJP

SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.

The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.

SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA) campus chapters.

SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.

SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.

Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.

BDS

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.

One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”

Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”

In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.

BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.

The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.

Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.

BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
