Comparing Israelis to Nazis
On May 10, 2021, Abuhumoud tweeted: “I swear the Israeli Zionists are just as bad as Nazis. You can’t tell me different. They are doing the same thing that Hitler was doing their people. We are oppressed...”The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights as one possible contemporary example of anti-Semitism: “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 countries have adopted the definition as well.
Supporting Terrorists
Abuhumoud retweeted a September 6, 2021 tweet that read: “6 Palestinian prisoners held in Is*rael were digging a hole in their jail cell using SPOONS for 7 years. They just escaped todayOn September 6, 2021, six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the maximum-security Gilboa Prison in northern Israel. Following a 10-day manhunt, all the escaped prisoners were recaptured and imprisoned by Israeli authorities.
The escaped prisoners were convicted members of the terror organizations Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the armed wing of Fatah, the main group in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
They were convicted and sentenced for their involvement in terror attacks carried out during the second intifada, which was characterized by more than 120 suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on buses and in cafes.
Abuhumoud retweeted a March 30, 2021 tweet about Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian (PFLP) terrorist, Majd Barbar, that read: “20 years in prison and they re-arrest him one day out because his family celebrated too loudly and his story started to catch media attention. the occupation is so heartless, so soul crushing.”
Majd Barbar was sentenced to “20 years in jail on charges of affiliation” with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and for “his role in armed resistance” in 2001. Barbar reportedly formed “an armed resistance group” in Jerusalem, during the Second Intifada.
Promoting Incitement
On May 11, 2021, Abuhumoud tweeted: “...My hate runs deep for these zionists. They know what they are doing & no one is doing enough to stop it. #FreePalestine #AlAqsaUnderAtrack.”Abuhumoud also spread multiple tweets published by others claiming Al-Aqsa was under attack by Israel in May 2021.
In May 2021, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa compound following claims the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. The subsequent incitement was a leading factor in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza into Israel later that month. Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza. Allegations of Jews “threatening” to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a traditional pretext for Arab attacks on Jews predating the State of Israel.
Abuhumoud retweeted an April 15, 2021 tweet that read: “Gaza is being bombed rn [right now] istg [I swear to God] Israel never fails to ruin ramadan for Palestinians they never see peace..
In April 2021, at the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a series of viral videos circulated on Palestinian social media showing Palestinian youths physically assaulting Jews in Jerusalem. Israeli police and civilians were reportedly attacked by rioters with firecrackers, stones and glass bottles. Amid the escalation, Hamas fired rockets into Israel from Gaza. Israel responded by striking a Hamas weapons manufacturing site, a weapon smuggling tunnel and a military post.
Hatred of Zionists
On May 10, 2021, Abuhumoud tweeted: “...F**k Zionists & I mean that from the bottom of my heart. #FreePalestine.”Abuhumoud’s tweet included a tweet with a video purporting to show Jews dancing and cheering while a tree burned near the Al-Aqsa mosque.
The fire was reportedly caused by Palestinian rioters shooting fireworks at Israeli police and was quickly extinguished with no damage to the mosque. However, social media users suggested that Jews were celebrating the destruction of the mosque, when the celebrants had in fact gathered in honor of Jerusalem Day, an Israeli national holiday.
Abuhumoud retweeted a June 25, 2021 tweet that read: “Zionists are the dumbest human beings on earth.”
Demonizing Israel
During Israel’s “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW)” against Hamas in Gaza, Abuhumoud retweeted a May 17, 2021 tweet that read: “F**king disgusting. This is American funded genocide #GazaUnderAttak #PalestinianLivesMatter.”In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.
Abuhumoud retweeted a May 13, 2021 tweet that read: “There is no way to describe what's happening to Gaza right now as anything other than outright genocidal.”
Abuhumoud retweeted a May 11, 2021 tweet that read: “Hate is a strong word and I HATE Israel.”
Abuhumoud retweeted a May 8, 2021 tweet that read: “all my homies hate israel.”
On May 5, 2021, Abuhumoud tweeted: “#SaveSheikJarrah.”
Abuhumoud tweeted using the hashtag “#SaveSheikJarrah” on multiple occasions in May 2021.
In May of 2021, a property dispute in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah erupted into violence in anticipation of an Israel High Court hearing that was expected to rule on eviction proceedings. The dispute involved over 70 Palestinian tenants illegally residing in Jewish-owned properties. On May 9, 2021, the court postponed the hearing.
The Sheikh Jarrah dispute sparked violent clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces in and around the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.
Incitement surrounding Al Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers on May 10-21, 2021. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes against the terrorists and their infrastructure in Gaza.
Abuhumoud retweeted a March 3, 2021 tweet that read: “Just a reminder that that isra*l put this wall up to keep Palestinians stuck in the West Bank. So tell me again how this isn’t apartheid?”
The tweet Abuhumud retweeted featured a photo of a concrete section of Israel’s security barrier.
Israel’s security barrier, 97 percent of which is a low chain-link barrier, was built as a deterrent to Palestinian terror attacks. The concrete portions of the fence were built in response to Palestinian sniper attacks.
